Not really. Keep pretending that doing the same maps with the same weapons with the same characters with the same items you’ve had since before the patch is somehow “new content” just because now a counter ticks up while you do it.
The only thing you could possibly consider new content is the tox bomber and that’s mostly gonna be a fire bomber reskin and not add a whole lot to gameplay
ye i hate that they only added one, and it isnt even in the “normally-found” enemy pool, but it is still something ; something that proves they are on the right track
plus the penances forces you to change playstyles

This isn’t the first time, nor the third.
But everything I know in life has its positives and its negatives. Fatshark & Darktide have their problems, but this is still the best game of its kind and one of the best of any kind I’ve ever played. While I’m pretty sure Fatshark will remain unchanged, there’s a silver lining there too.
Means Darktide will continue to get steady, if slow updates including new maps, enemies, weapons, classes (or talent tiers), cosmetics etc. for many more years. And while I’d love to have more and faster, that’s still enough for me. ![]()
New unlockable cosmetics is, by definition, new content. Alongside adding puzzles and new collectibles to maps.
Tox Bomber is almost going to 100% throw the same projectiles as the male twin did, being corruption dealing land mines. This is a different enough to warrant a new enemy imo, and dealing with their projectiles will be different from each other.
Don’t get me wrong I’m not that stoked at this update. But it is new content. Even if not enough, or if the acquisition method doesn’t pull people back into the game.
Im still a bit hopefully. I wont be too devastated if/when things flop but honestly im enjoying Darktide. I dont think its in a great place but i dont think its in as bad of a place as others do lol. Im looking forward to more content of any kind ![]()
No/few earnable cosmetics and no way to change personality/gender without having to make a full new character (thus losing progress)
Crafting need its own patch, and the only other I can think of are Solo and map selection, which I don’t think will change due to server constraints
Inability to change voice, inability to change gender, new cosmetics not being premium, new cosmetics not being purchased and a fair bit want pennances based around the new abilities.
Idk if it’s gonna be faster.
My prediction is Penance update the 30 of april or first week in may (beacuse next week-syndrome).
The crafting update 4-5 months later so august - september area.
And the last new maps, weapons and “elements” sometime late december
So kinda like last years update tempo.
I hope I’m wrong and they absolutly crush it with fun content and updates
but also thinks this is more realistic.
Imma keep it real, I’m not excited for the update because I’ve checked out of the cosmetics shell game and having to wander around the existing maps again to find the one loose board or hidden nook doesn’t fill me with joy.
Other games are adding new weapons, new levels, new mission types, new enemies and a ton of expansions to existing content.
We got some cosmetics which I don’t really care a ton about, sone puzzles which are likely going to show why trying to platform on a server doing multiple hand shakes is a bad idea, and 1 new enemy and 1 new effect.
There is less content here than the content in the SST game which just dropped an update. I’ve stopped comparing it to Helldivers updates because that’s hydrogen bomb vs a coughing baby.
I’ll start being optimistic when fatshark say what they’re actually going to do with the crafting system, and what they say sounds good. It’d be great if I didn’t have to wait another 2-3+ weeks just for that, but you know how fatshark is with communication.

I worry they release this stuff now to buy more time before actual new content arrives in months. Updated penances and crafting is good for those who need it, but if that means we’re doing the same maps with the same weapons vs the same enemy for the coming 6 months I’m gonna burn out completely and probably just leave.
New maps and missions are the most important things needed imo. A lot of people have played so much they already use their preferred gear on the difficulty they’ve aimed for and they know every map, mission, and scenario in their sleep.
New systems won’t strike hard enough to either make veterans stay/return and it won’t bring new players. I really hope FS understands this.
A new system that allows me to create the builds I want is exactly what would bring me back. For me, the late game of the game is the ability to create a huge number of builds on these characters with the weapons we currently have, which is currently too alienating an activity.
So Darktide has 4 years to fix things to get a Bafta ?
Yes!
Create a game that works on PC at the start, but maybe not consoles. Apologise. Focus 4 years of concerted effort on fixing it, optimizing, ridding small errors, adding content, bringing out class DLC with A list actors, patching it, optimizing it, then adding free aesthetic things such as a monorail. Then yes!
