Fatshark does not learn

Funny thing. If this was any other luxury product - say a car or a handbag - the tolerance inside the company for mistakes would be absolutely zero. They know that when the customer can go somewhere else for a product that is functionally identical (aka HD2) the only thing you actually have to sell on is the reputation of your brand. And the surest way to kill that reputation is turn out a bad product and not do everything you possibly can to rectify the situation as soon as absolutely possible. Yet for some reason this kind of stuff has become normal. Its almost as if these studios have had all their brains replaced with clones from cheap asian studios whose only product is low-grade “pump and dump” gacha games.

More like zero quality process. Some of the things that have been obvious to the point that I have to wonder how no one slapped a hold on the project pending a very thorough review.

Frankly at this point I’m pretty sure the only thing that will fix this studio is the same thing that will kill it. GW pulling the warhammer license. A shock like that might just make them realize that they need to make real changes right now and to hell with the “creatives” feelings. It will also cost them the only product line they have that has been remotely able to bring in new players.

Their new IP is most likely not GW related.

It will flop hard.

Yeah especially if they try and monetise it the same way as DT.

New original ip cosmetics on a store front as horrendously bad at dt’s will not sell. Dt cosmetics purely sell because it’s established thing I like in-spite of that awful store front.

Maybe it’s a Krater sequel.

most value likely comes from User Data they can get through the Games which is worth a crap ton of Money. Or Money laundering. No idea how FS even manages to support their ~200 Employee Studio with their games having a playercount of some niche RTS Game and one of the highest Player abandonment rate ever, when the next bare minimun drip-fed updates comes out after half a year with new bugs its almost exclusively just returning players who play and ditch it again for like a week

lol where do you get this stuff? What kind of user data are they selling, who prefers throwing knives to fire nades?

There are thousands of Steam players on at every minute of the day. There’s gotta be 10-20k+ people cycling thru on all platforms every single day. The money is in the MTX.

They don’t need to do that, we know how Fatshark keeps the lights on.

It’s MTX money and selling chunks of the company off to investors. That’s how Tencent got its claws in to begin with.

I mean, they could in theory sell the cosmetic data to GW to know what the average player could be interested in, but if that is their plans then they’re doing it in a very contrived way.

Guaranteed they’re sharing data about GW’s IP with GW, but they also aren’t floating the company on that data (or money laundering lol).

User Data is very valuable, thats not news that de facto every Company does that nowadays including gaming companies and no its not who prefers throwing knives to fire nades…

the cosmetics in the game absolutely suck, 99% of players i see don’t even use paid cosmetics but also those two don’t exclude each other. the store actually makes the user data even more valuable

What kind of data do you think they’re selling? This isn’t Facebook.

And the data from the store is almost definitely a condition of their agreement with GW. I doubt they make money off of that otherwise.

I assume frequency of usage and IP.

That may be data, but it ain’t worth much.

Here’s DT’s actual privacy policy (which I believe holds some weight in the EU at least): Darktide

All sorts of like who buys what, when and how frequent, where they live and what not all. Thats common for like any App/Software/Game etc.

And if they aren’t making that much with it the other alternative is even worse with the most garbage predatory FOMO MTX Store in existence worse than Halo Finite

This doesn’t make any sense. There’s no evidence to support this, their privacy policy seems to preclude it, and any data related to the store is likely tightly controlled by GW.

Who is paying FS behind GW’s back to know if the waluigi Zealot hat is selling more than the bandage-wrapped flak helmet?

That does make sense. And theres countless of evidence for that because thats the most basic thing almost every Companies is doing since over a decade. GW also doesn’t own FS, they only allowed FS to use the IP. GW has nothing to do with anything else but what FS gets to do with the IP. All else is done by FS and Tencent and for Console Sony/Microsoft and Tencent is also known to slurp up all Data and what not they can get…same as everyone else. You joke about ‘waluigi zealot hat selling more’ but that is in fact an valueable Data to know.

Yea ok, or maybe they’re just laundering money.

This isn’t simping. You’re just talking nonsense you have no idea about.

FS publicly said in recent months that the player engagement is working for them. I’m sure they’re making money. Just sold a ton of Arbites DLC. Got VT2 revenue. Couple more years and they’ll likely have 3 ongoing projects/revenue streams.

I remember when we were waiting for the update, and they made an announcement that there was going to be an announcement for the next update Everyone was so excited.

After that they announced that the next update was going to focus on crafting and to wait for the next announcement focusing on the crafting update. Everyone was less excited.

then they finally made the crafting update post and no one really cared anymore as it wasn’t the update lol.
