Haha, “niche character” was right! But… not anymore…
Ogryn’s tree doesn’t come with much build flexibility, for other reasons, nodes are simply not interconnected well. If anything they should work towards more build variety. I personally also despise how vet feels without taking a stam regen node, which limits somewhat how my builds look like.
From all careers which might need adjustment to their talent tree, especially when it comes to “nerfs”, zealot comes first to mind. Its simply too easy to grab all the good stuff, and what remains is mostly pure junk. Virtually all optimised zealot builds look the same at the top and mid section of the tree. 2/3rds of the top and mid section of the zealot tree are basically dead, as no one with knowledge of the game uses them if they are serious about optimising.
Fwiw the gulf between Zealot’s good nodes and Zealot’s bad nodes is crazy. It’s like Zealot’s entire tree consists of talents that are either on the same must pick tier of Heavyweight or dumpster tier like Crunch. Actually, some of them are even worse than Crunch.
To quote the philosopher R. Wiggum, “that’s unpossible”
I dunno, man, Enemies Within sure ain’t doing much. Emperor’s Bullet ain’t making a good showing without the super shotty’s help, either.
Man why did they butcher that skill so much. Literally the worst toughness talent in the game?
that one really ought to go back to 1 enemy. You’re a Zealot, if there’s any enemies in your melee range your job is not over…if they did that and swapped its location with Vicious Offering I might run the stun grenade side.
I certainly don’t disagree, but I think the value is pretty pathetic even if you changed the condition. Like it was indirectly nerfed pretty heavily by the game moving to a higher dps, more enemy spam direction, then they also halved the value. Anyway not trying to turn this into a Zealot thread I just haven’t seen anyone talk much about EWEW in a while so couldn’t help myself.
I’m not wrong, sadly. The game is in such a poor state with all the crashing and other issues caused by yet another poorly implemented update that @FatsharkStrawHat is not even dealing with multiple questions being asked about the Ogryn, She has made it obvious that Ogryns are a non-issue for her and the dev team, and with the upcoming Christmas break, they give less of an f about it.
Hey there, I am taking note of all the comments on Ogryn and relaying them back to the team. I love the big guy and I promise I don’t consider it a non-issue.
I understand how you feel, but please don’t be too critical.
Let’s recognize that FatsharkStrawHat is doing their best to communicate!
It really looks like they’re making a sincere effort to engage with everyone.
We’re kind Ogryns, so let’s trust them!
Hello!! Thank you so much for replying to my post and for leaving such a positive comment!
I really appreciate and admire how hard you work to communicate. I look forward to continuing to work together and wish you good health always!
I wonder what was the person who designed Light them Up thinking when they made it apply 2 (3 before the nerf) stacks of Burn for each shot of:
- 800~ RPM Machinegun;
- Break-action single shot shotgun and grenade launcher.
The best part is how it doesn’t even work on explosion, just the initial projectile hit of the grenade launcher
Lol, for real? I guess I fell for misinfo, because some Sedition warrior from the Steam forums (IIRC) claimed that it works for the Rumbler and apparently great for horde clear, yada-yada.
I also remember that before the nerf burn stacks were applied per pellet (useful for Kickback or Ripper), but that was changed to per shot. What a great synergy the Ogryn has.
Yep, just tested it again to see if it was fixed, only applies for direct hits still. Poor guy has been using it for hordeclear without seeing if it works first, many such cases.
Nice to hear.
Maybe you could directly show some of the more analytical posts with the rest of the team? I myself made and refined one about how the ogryn talent tree could get smoothed out and there are a lot of other good posts like the one we’re on lingering about.
shameless link of course:
I’m not an Ogryn main, he’s my least-played character, and despite that lack of experience what the OP says feels right to me, and explains why I don’t play the Ogryn more. Even less, come to think of it, after the last few updates.
Beyond having access to a shield weapon, and the usually-disappointing but often-amusing rumbler, I don’t really get the Ogryn.
Why can’t I pick up the shouties and throw them? I think they’d like it.
Why can’t I pick up the glowing ones and throw them? Sometimes they explode.
What’s with the heavy stubber? My Ork friends make fun of me when I use the alt-fire.
Sometimes the twin-linked stubber stops working. Boss yells “ammo!” over and over but doesn’t give me any. Is he stupid?
