Fatshark, could you please save Ogryn? I beg you

That’s correct, the Grenadier Gauntlet isn’t a completely useless weapon.
In my opinion, it’s not particularly high in damage, fast in reloading, high in stagger, or wide in range, so I tend to avoid using it, which is why I wrote this post.

As for the Power Maul… I have no words. It’s at the point where they should just remove the Power Maul itself and remake it in a completely different way.

Haha, is that so? Thank you for reading!

Could it be that Fatshark is temporarily punishing Veterans because they were too strong during the year before the skill tree rework…?

nah its the volley fire that really needs pity toughness again, and smokes need an actual effect even as a longterm supporter they are meme. in terms of actually playing different things stealth is just as game-state altering as gold bar, you just do not share. the rest of vet’s tree is great and there are many play styles offered.

this isn’t the same as soften em up not affecting ranged (but not being on the melee side). the frag box (the useless blitz) is on the karking MIDDLE and you can’t path around it. Ogg’s is a unique different level of suffering.

And great translation and excellent points OP. But as Havoc proves they just uniquely hate the big man. At least by the time they add a bunch of new weapons he will be rebuilt, as every new one just auto replaces what was there before and they don’t bother to rebalance. So hopefully in like a year with a couple powerful new weapons Ogryn will feel decent again.

Save the big guy!

It’s funny because before the skill tree rework, the Bull Butcher was one of Ogryn’s main weapons. It didn’t match any of the skills, but there weren’t many other weapons (and there still aren’t really), and it was the best weapon for handling hordes. Now, though, if you use anything other than the fourth Cleaver, you’d be treated like a fool…

I agree, Ogryn needs a rework, and overall buff, he’s far too weak these days, I find myself playing the other 3 classes way more because they’re all superior to Ogryn.

I say this as an Ogryn main, with around double the playtime on Ogryn over every other class, my Ogryn true level is like 330, while my next highest class, my veteran is only at about 188.

I hope to see the Ogryn buffed, his bad talents buffed or even replaced with new ones.

You’re truly amazing! How did you manage to organize all of that? Just having someone like you around is already such a great thing.

I agree on everything you say and i hope, Fatshark will notice this post. I very like Ogryn, but it doesen’t feel good anymore. It’s like you are playing a slow clunky target practise for shooters. For the Veteran players here: I’m a Zealot(TL746) and Veteran(TL667) main with 2400h, mostly in Auric/Maelstrom. In MY opinion Veteran is not weak. He is still the best option for focusing elite and special enemies on range. Yeah, he doesen’t do the dmg numbers like he did before the talent update, but he has very good defensive and team support talents. Only because you don’t have the biggest dmg numbers doesen’t mean he is bad. Zealots and Psykers(yeah ok the new staff build is special) are mostly limited against ranged enemies, especaily in wide open fields. But that is MY opinion. And sry, english is not my first language, there can be some faults here.

It’s funny, many, many little nerfs were introduced over the last many updates, they were all being felt and added up, but then another thread gets pulled in the form of changed core mechanics and the like, and the whole sweater unravels.

This is what happens when things are balanced in a vacuum, and more recent changes greatly affecting recent past changes are not taken into account and reconsidered.

It’s a tale as old as time in games, and FS’s slow course-correction and glacial trivial bug fixes makes it much worse.

Thanks!

I’ve updated that post a lot with little tweaks and changes when I realize something could be better or more smoothly implemented.

This guy also just mentioned some big things I try to avoid with my post like balancing in a vacuum. When I came up with most of my balance ideas I tried to focus on making everything add together so that there was a lot of flexibility in what functions and can be combined, while also removing or altering anything that I thought was restricting; sometimes for being too good.

A lot of games have an issue where a couple things are meta and then everything else sucks because everything else can’t be buffed without making the meta builds more overpowered and dominant. I try to avoid that restricting outcome at all costs with my suggestions. Sometimes 1 great perk can hold back 20 other perks from being good.

Basically, game balancing needs a balance of its own. Simple, but often forgotten.

I only really like Ogryn, or I used to before the unnecessary changes they made to him.
and while I do have some faith that @FatsharkStrawHat is conveying the community feedback to the devs, I have very little faith that the Devs will listen or even care, and if they do bother to do anything it will be in 3 to 6 months.
Remember how long players complained about the awful RNG and how long Fatshark ignored them?
Ogryns being the least played class means if it is going to be looked at, it is most likely at the bottom of a long list of fixes they have to do after this latest poorly implemented update has come out.
And with the bump in PlayStation players do they need to do anything? In their eyes, the game looks more popular than ever.
I hope I am wrong, but history is a good indicator of future performance.

I agree with your thoughts on Veteran. It would be great if they either increased the cooldown of VoC or slightly nerfed it, and also gave “Executioner’s Stance” more survivability. I remember that before the skill tree rework, there was toughness damage reduction, which made Veteran feel tougher than Ogryn. That was really strong back then. lol

That’s right.

Ogryn has consistently received nerfs over time. Even though this has been the case for quite a while after the game was released, I remember Ogryn players didn’t really complain much about it. I personally didn’t either. However, now it feels like it has gotten too extreme, which is why I decided to post something even using a translation tool.

To be honest, I was quite disappointed even after the skill tree rework. After looking at the skills, I felt that other classes seemed to have been designed with more care, possibly because they have a larger player base. But Ogryn felt too simple, lackluster, and boring. A lot of the skills gave me the feeling of “Why is this even here? It doesn’t seem useful.”

When comparing recent changes like the Psyker skill adjustments and additions, Zealot skill changes, and the two consecutive skill patches for Veteran (Veteran players seem to be the most numerous and the strongest, and there was a lot of talk about skills, so maybe that’s why they get VIP treatment), Ogryn feels really neglected. It makes me wonder if they’re giving up on or abandoning the class entirely.

I also completely agree with your point about Fatshark’s slow patching process and the trivial bug fixes worsening the situation.

As an Ogryn player and someone who only plays Darktide, I really appreciate it. I know it might sound cheeky, but I’d really appreciate consistent updates.

I really hope we’re wrong.

I had the same thought. I believe the reason Ogryn players haven’t gotten much attention for so long is because the player count is so low. Compared to the other three classes, it’s really rare to see an Ogryn. In fact, I think Ogryn players are probably the fewest. These days, it’s almost impossible to find one. I think it’s probably because of all the nerfs. Before, there were at least a few, but now it’s nearly impossible to spot one.

I also mainly play Zealot and Psyker instead of Ogryn. Haha.

For quite some time, I’ve been thinking, “The skills really need to be reworked in a different way… no matter which skill tree you pick, the playstyle feels too similar.” But even while thinking this, all I saw was more nerfs, and it really started to make me lose interest. Haha.

I don’t understand why they nerfed the big man to begin with.
He was already a niche character and rarely encountered.
