Fat Shark ever consider expanding the Mourning Star

I was recently playing Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, where players have a lot of space to move around in a frigate. Fat Shark ever consider expanding the Mourning Star? It’s a little small right now

How about we make it smaller and stop wasting time walking from one shop to some mission board. I wanna play the game, not stand in a digital lobby with random people.

But seriously there is room for more shoprooms like the gene docs and the size is big enough to give the proper vibes. Walking around the flightdeck adds nothing to the gameplayloop and at least on PC a bunch of people mod out the actual mourningstar part completely.

The Morningstar is such a wasted opportunity and a step back from the keep in VT2.

  • I dislike that it forces 3rd person - and ironically it’s harder to see OTHER people’s cosmetics up close compared to if we could be 1st person.

  • A lot of the time you don’t even return to the Morningstar with your strike team in the same instance.

  • Nothing to interact with and have fun with. No bar or social opportunities.

  • No customization options or evolution of the space.

Best way to improve the Mourning Star would be to make it more like the Vermintide lobbies, which would involve

  • Ditch the garbage concept of having randoms in the lobby, it just causes tons of load time for no benefit
  • add customization and condense it, tie things to story/levelling progress like in the Vermintide games
  • load strike teams into it together like in Vermintide (you know like an actual lobby is supposed to work)
  • hotkeys

Unfortunately I don’t think it’d be worth the effort for a complete rework. At the very least the random players showing up should be removed. Now that you can actually see what is being loaded when loading in, you can see that a majority of the load times are usually “waiting on other(s)…” which is some annoying garbage when we’re talking about a bunch of randoms I don’t look at anyway.

i hate being forced to walk to start missions. if they wanna expand it they should give us an option for bypassing the walking like how mods do it

id like to add that in VT2 you could also open the menu to select maps etc, changing hero and shop, challenges etc through hotkeys which was implemented by the devs

for then removing it as feature in darktide, a real step back

also in the vt2 keep had funny secrets and so and also a hidden parkour to do just for fun which was nice design.

funnily enough that would probably happen a lot more often if people loaded in together rather than it just being 10 randoms who don’t interact anyway

Another issue with the Mourningstar is that everything is basically on the same level. But we can see multiple floors and walkways both above and below us. The keep in VT2 was much more interesting and had a lot of interesting areas worth exploring, especially a lot more verticality. Again I feel like Darktide lacks … personality. Not quite sure what to call it.

i mean, go nuts if you enjoy it.

as long as i can skip straight to the map table and better yet past anything lower than auric damnation HISTG.

true, i enjoy the atmosphere but i can only so often pass the same routine before it goes stale.

darktide aint a “socialising” game past the fleeting squad we have for 30 minutes and truth be told them randos are the spice to keep things fresh

when i log on i wanna get as many matches wrapped up as possible.

browsing the mourningstar is okay for low level character maybe, but with melk useless and having max gear for 6 months already, lets get to the smashing asap :muscle:
