Fastest way to max Mastery for Dec 3:rd weapons (endgame)?

Hi all!

I realized I never had to actually work with the Mastery system since I already had it maxed on arrival. But tomorrow we’ll be getting 3 new weapon families so everyone has to grind them up from zero.

What’s the fastest & cheapest way to do that? I know you get Mastery xp by playing with it, but what’s the cost of doing that via sacrifices?

A redditor said this 2 months ago:

  • Sacrificing weapons of the same family type gives 5x more xp
  • Greens already give max mastery
  • So the fastest & most economic way then apparently was to:
    • Buy what you can find from the stores + as many grays from Brunt as you need, then upgrade them to green
    • Sacrifice the greens for Mastery xp
    • Total costs: “~300k dockets, and ~3000 plasteel”

Is this still true & up to date? I have literally no idea what the Mastery xp economy is even like, as in how much xp you get from one T5+ match vs. sacrificing, nvm if the upgrade tier past green is still irrelevant?

Thanks!

Edit: Btw might be obvious but if anyone doesn’t have the money or plasteel, but does have weekly credits, an easy way to get money & mats is to just buy mystery deals in bulk from Melk, then sell all of it. In case you’re missing any top-tier curios like 21% hp, 17% toughness or +3 stamina, you can swat 2 flies with one strike by farming those and selling the stuff you don’t need!

You buy weapons of the family you want to master
You consecrate them to green
You sacrifice them

Repeat until you master the family.

The way I see it why master a weapon type if I don’t intend to use it. Also time consuming loop even if have plentiful resources, which is why I don’t do it due to time it takes.

Unless want 100% penance.

If resources are finite for people…Might as well save the resources for future release weapons so you can dump the resources into instant mastery 20 from day 1.

With 1 million ordo and 30k plasteel, I think I will master day one the new weapons… especially when I consider all trash weapons I can sacrifice (emperor’s gifts)

(and yes this is not a big stock… I have bought lot of cosmetics from commissary just to use ordos and I did lot of weapons from Brunt)

Sure ofc if you’re not at all interested in them, that goes without saying.

For those of us who are however, that’s just 30 clicks to buy the grays, upgrade, then sacrifice each. So ~90 clicks total, or ~60 since I have the Buy Until Rating mod. :joy: Hardly a big deal to get to design the weapons any which way you want instead of being at the mercy of RNG.

I love variation and testing all kinds of weapons, and we don’t get new weapons often anyway. So maxing the new stuff to play around with it is a given for me! Especially since I’ve played long enough to have more than enough resources to spare.

What is sure is that you can sacrifice trash weapons in your inventory.
But weapons of the same family are the only ones that will give plenty of experience.
First, use trash weapons. Then buy the weapons of this family from Brunt and consecrate them to green then sacrifice.

I have not paid attention if there is a plasteel return. I don’t consider plasteel as a problem now (but I continue to loot everything, even on maelstrom).

My problem is picking which one to dump money into second. At least they made the first one an easy choice.

If you’re short on ordos, I would advice to keep your trash weapons… an orange weapon sells close to 10k ordos. So better to sell it to buy a grey of the good family from Brunt.

Scrapped all my trash weapons after the update. No reason to hang onto em anymore

You get one new trash weapon each time you complete a mission

I can only hope the emperor provides new weapon family trash.

Yee that’s good advice for those who still have them.

I used to have a massive set of random gear stored, but a few weeks after Unlocked & Loaded I sold everything that didn’t have ideal stats and just crafted new ones every time I needed them. Nothing of what I have remaining is something I want to trash.

There’s a tip there btw: Favorite every weapon you need, use skins within the families themselves to separate the stuff you use for specific types builds etc. After that you can just discard all and easily view all the loots, save what’s good and discard the rest. Makes it easy to keep the inventory clean!

personally i was just going to play with them grab some greens with different dump stats and see which one i like better

I used the greens-to-max strat for almost all of the weapons upon the launch of Unlocked & Loaded. I’m glad that feature is there, but regret robbing myself of the progression carrot.

For the handful of weapons I didn’t green-cheese, I found that I’d get at least a mastery level (with the final level or two possibly being the exception, but I can’t recall) per Damnation match.

For these new weapons, I’ll definitely be playing with them to level mastery for them.

Is levelling to green still optimal?
It was at launch of the new patch as there was a bug, but I thought they’d changed it so that Orange >> Green when surrendering.

When? I have not seen that in patch notes. I cannot test for that (all are mastered), but I was testing green or orange was giving same experience.

You might be right. It’s just something I recall seeing, but I may be wrong.
Only recent thing I could find by searching was this:

Yep, that was my maths. It’s a bit more expanded here:

SACRIFICING

A bit of research and experimentation.

Sacrificing for Mastery seems to only care about:

  1. The weapon rarity is at least Green.
  2. The Power of the weapon.
  3. If it is the same weapon group it gives x6 the XP.

Roughly it gives 25xPower level for same family and 4xPower Level for different weapons.

Power 500 = 12390xp same weapon group, 2065xp for different weapon group

Power 380 = 9510xp same weapon group, 1585xp for different weapon group

Power 300 = 7590xp same weapon group, 1265xp for different weapon group

Better rarity doesn’t matter so it is most efficient to sacrifice greens.

This means you can brute force it by guying greens from the hourly shop. (mostly Power 350-380). Likewise blues but they will be a bit more expensive for no more Mastery XP.

Or getting some greys from the shop or from Brunt (which tends to be 270-330 power) and consecrating them.

Likewise a 380 power grey bought from the armoury exchange and consecrated for 122 plasteel gives slightly more XP per plasteel than a 300 for 102 plasteel or 330 for 109 Plasteel.

EDIT: BRUTE FORCING MASTERY TO 20 VIA BRUNT

It costs 271155 total Mastery XP to reach Mastery Level 20 (thanks to: Reddit - Dive into anything )

Given 271155 Mxp total and 7590 from a green Power 300 of the same weapon type = 36

With 102 Plasteel to upgrade a grey 300.

= 3672 Plasteel to go from 0 mastery to 20 using brunt greens alone (at level 30).

Possibly a bit more or less depending on exact Power of item from Brunt. (it’s slightly more efficient if you get some higher power level weapons)

Brunt’s at Lv 30 are 9200, 10000, 10800 or 11600 dockets depending on weapon.

So ~ 331,200 to 417,600 dockets.

I was gonna make an argument but then you made it for me. Yeah, I do it for the achievement hunting.

If it makes it easier, once you do it once for a weapon family you don’t have to do it again. I prefer the round numbers.

sh.t… I have just 1 million… I hope selling trash weapons will fill the gap. I guess it will work.
