Equipment and Talents Privacy

I would like to start this off by saying that I appreciate Fatshark incorporating the ability to see talents and weapons when holding Tab.

However, I find it absurd that it is only possible for your steam friends to see this information. In the new “Equipment and Talents Privacy” section of the settings, there are two options: “Friends Only” and “Private”. I don’t see the need for this to be a toggleable option in the first place, but regardless, it is.

The far greater problem is that there is no option for this to be visible globally. I genuinely don’t understand the thought process behind this decision. The vast majority of the time, people are playing with pubs in quick play. It completely defeats the purpose of implementing the ability to see talents and weapons, if you in fact cannot see them.

TLDR: Add an option to make the talents and weapons visible globally and make it the default setting. Or, remove the options altogether, and just make them permanently visible for everyone.

I have ~1,500 hours and I think I’ve only encountered someone questioning my equipment/skill choices around 3 or 4 times. I can see why adding a private option makes sense but making it the default and not having a public option essentially makes all the effort put into this UI redesign useless. In fact, it’s worse than before where you could only see weapons but weapons were public. At least then you could reasonably guess what kind of build certain classes were running by their weapon choice.

And with steam friends you can talk about your skills /equipment easily anyway.

I concur with you.

I understand that sometimes there can be some games where a toxic player starts to judge other ones’ loadouts. But this is not a good reason to remove a feature.

There should be a “public” setting other than full private and friends only ones.

Made a forum account just to chime in that I agree. There is literally no downside to having a public option. I was really surprised when I went to set it to public and there wasn’t a choice. Tons of us play with non-steam friends a lot and want to be able to share our loadouts and see our teammates.

I just wanted to say that I would like to view the builds of other players when I soloqueue. Knowing which talent was selected at 35 might change the way i play some encounters, and it’s nice when you can sync up with your team knowing their abilities
