So, I bought a couple cosmetics the first week. something for each class. The intent was for my purchase to be a little nod to the devs (not like my money went to them anyway. HI TENCENT!) for making a game I was initially enjoying. I should have played a bit more before buying.
Now I actively feel shame for walking around in game with the things I bought. Which is a bummer because by design most of the earnable cosmetics are garbage. Beginning to think those prison suits are my end game fashion choice.
Don’t be ashamed if you like the cosmetics.
If you feel embarrassed because you “supported the devs” just remember everyone playing bought the game too.
I feel you. Bought the emperors edition including some cosmetics, because I can afford it and want to support a good game. Now I’m so dissapointed, not primary of the bugs but of the way of NO communication since weeks and all those was so expected after that open beta.

It’s okay, I bought the Emperor’s Edition.
The first step is admitting you made a mistake.
Bought some cosmetics with the Emperor’s Edition bonus money. I wouldn’t say I’m embarrassed to wear them, but there’s no way in hell FS is getting another cent from me until this game no longer feels like an early access title or a scummy mobile game. If I could get a refund I would.
I mean, everyone playing on Game Pass didn’t give them monies. Microsoft still did on their behalf, but… eh.
I would be more ashamed because of how bad they look. I’d call the premium shop a cosmetics downgrade at the minute even if they weren’t clipping and badly scaling. You become a carnival freak or completely cover up the character you created. Its pretty bad, I don’t think I’ll ever end up spending my pre order bux.
meh.|
Get over it. Shame is useless. Guilt in spending is a personal scale.
I suspect that in 6 months many of the things people are wringing their hands and gnashing their teeth will be solved and the game will have a steady following the VT2. Or not, and there will be some new game to complain about ![]()
Oh yea i forgot about gamepass…side-bar how does the game even run on gamepass?
I too made this same mistake.
That said, I figure I’d save my aquilas to buy the next class or additional character slots.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with using skins that are purchased through MTX (or even buying them in the first place), however when the game that’s selling them to you doesn’t respect you as a customer, wearing them shows that you have a lack of respect for both yourself and your hobby.
Not gonna lie, it made me pretty happy when I heard that Overwatch 2 players were getting crap from other players for wearing purchased skins.
Flashbacks to Mechwarrior Online’s $500 golden skins
Don’t. You do what you want with your money, and supporting a game you like is not a problem.
I have bought several things myself, and I don’t feel shame at wearing them.
I don’t think a new class will come soon. What we will get first it is subclass. And you will be able to use the actual cosmetics to the new subclass. Check on the description and you will see that the cosmetics can be used by the entire class and not the subclass.
Zealot, Veteran, Ogryn, Psyker = classes
Preacher, Sharpshooter, Skullbreaker, Psykinetic = subclasses
Yeah. I don’t think a new class will come any time soon either. But I don’t like any of the cosmetics enough to buy them, so my Imperial edition Aquilas are just sitting there doing nothing.
That said, I don’t think we’re going to see subclasses any time soon either.
From the sounds of things, and the lack of updates and comms, things are a mess at Fatshark and they’ve got a laundry list of bugs, issues, and features they still need to complete before they can start working on new content.
Game will probably be dead by then.
Yeah, those were a larf. I don’t think I ever saw one in game.
You can also buy one item, instead of a 2400 A pack, if you inspect one…
I don’t think the game will be dead. I think this game will be successfull, cause this is a great game. And that’s the reason behind all rage we see cause there is a great potential in this game and so people are angry that it is not exploited like it should.
But, I think FS will sooner (I doubt) or later (I am sure they will) will fix and add things to this game that will make it one great game.
I played VT2 but not too much. I did not like it. But Darktide is really a great game. You get ranged weapons and also melee and magic abilities. I think that people are comparing too much with VT2.
That’s understandable, but Darktide is not VT2. Even if they get inspiration about the enemies, even if they took animations… the game is really different.
I saw them a few times, and they would usually get teamkilled in spawn almost instantly when the match started.
But I don’t want to buy just one item. Because there is nothing in the cosmetics store that appeals to me enough to want to buy.
I’ve looked. There’s nothing in there that makes me want to spend those Aquilas. Yet. Maybe there will be one day, but that day has not yet come.
I played VT2 quite a bit. I am aware Darktide is not VT2. But at the same time, it’s quite similar in a lot of ways.
I like 40k a lot more than I ever liked fantasy. The game is fun. But it’s limited. I’ve sunk a fair bit of time in it and I’m exhausting just about everything I can do, or want to do, with it.
There will no doubt be a small population of people that continue playing it, and eventually, in a couple of years there will be enough content to make it enjoyable again.
…but I’m not interested in the eventual. I’m interested in the right now and coming soon, because there’s other things that will be releasing in the eventual that I’ll give my attention.
That makes me all giddy.
If only we could teamkill in every game that has that sort of thing.
