DT after 5200 hours. I'm tired

The only thing left is crying here so here it is.

I still remember launch day. Un-optimized, unplayable game with dead servers
Error 2014, backend error, error 3013, mission aborted
“Response from FS servers may be slow… please check YOUR internet connection”

100k people in-game on release dropped to 8k in 3 months. I wonder why

After 3 years game becomes much better. But only because there is now other way than forward from bottom of the abyss this game was on launch.
How much people would play this if it’s wouldn’t be a Warhammer franchise?

Some people still expect they will fix sounds, unstaggerable mid-animation enemies, silent specials, trappers/snipers shooting you through the objects (bc these objects are transparent w/o any hitbox) etc etc but it won’t ever happen
The reason is - their horrible engine. Same bugs and bs are here since Vermintide, literally the same bugs.
There is no fixing for this, bc in that case they have to rebuild the whole game from zero.
I guess you guys are proud patriots using your OWN Swedish engine. Who cares its trash, right?

Hotfixes (for FS more like coldfixes) and balancing is smth I can write a whole book about.
Today they nerfed metal and buffed purgatus. I’m actually speechless.
Dear devs, tell me please - how exactly would an average player know how much stacks does soulblaze/bleed/burn/chem got? There is not fragin way you are serious, you buff soulblaze from 250 to 255 on max stacks. How much people know that you mean 31?
We can’t even see how much HP/ammo/ability cooldown our teammates have.
Big thanks for adding different gren icons, WOW it’s been a long 3 fragin years.

What about our “BIGGEST CONTENT INJECTION SINCE LAUNCH”? Or maybe someone remember such thing as Mortis Trials? Karnak twins fight? Same with so called Operations. No one asked for this. People are playing Havoc, the best and the only needed part of this game.
Ofc you can do whatever you want in your own game but don’t be surprised it’s dead.

Fat Shark, I truly love you guys but you gotta wake up. You put a huge D on your core auditory, focusing on random players who gonna play 10-20 hours and then uninstall. I know pretty much every worthy EU player and everything above is our shared pain. Make havoc better, delete this god damn blight, make seeds less random so people won’t complain about empty maps or first room wipes with 3 bosses/twins/100 crushers. We are playing 4 people with 6k hours avrg and there is no challenge for us. V2 got modded, twitch, custom maps with weekly mutators.
What we got? Blight, cranial (yes, it’s so funny being launched every 5 secs) and several map rotations that you cannot skip w/o demoting.
Playing pubs is so painful, that all the good players are in private. I can’t imagine how people play vanilla w/o checking builds, level or anything else. Random dude with 10 hours joining H40 and dies on every horde spawn. Frustration is so real people just quit and never return.

So much more left to say but I know it’s pointless, nothing will change

Homie, if you have 5200 hours in Darktide, from the 2022 launch date that’s an average of over 1500 hours of Darktide a year, 30 hours a week, or 6 hours of daily play if you play five days a week. That’s almost a full time job. For a $40 game, maybe you got your money’s worth?

There’s a ton of valid things to throw at Darktide and Fatshark, but I feel like the viewpoint here has some things a bit…off.

In fairness, at this point the game is going on 4 years old. This is the sort of thing you’d expect out of such a title.

The ultrasweat mode made for the top-end of the playerbase that most players have never and will never touch?

The truth of that answer was always “relatively few”, there’s a reason the game has a licensed IP and is monetized off new cosmetics and classes instead of new gameplay elements. If this game were “Battlesmasher 50 Million: Blackwave” instead of “Warhammer 40,000: Darktide” most of us wouldn’t be here, and that has always been the case.

There are so much fun parts in this game but as much frustration

Also, people who quit did it not because they got tired of the game, but it’s issues and ofc they don’t have as much hours. Several people just uninstalled after several crashes or “your mission was aborted” after like 20-30 hours

My whole point is that this game is quite dead, major patches pump online, but for a few days/week
So there are like 2-4k of core auditory, from whom FS make their revenues
And this auditory is completely doomed by dev’s decisions

btw CS, Dota, pubg, warframe, PoE and many more games are free
Guess you know how much hours some people got, so 40$ or 140$ - doesn’t matter

At the same time, I would probably play any tide game FS would make, and I would be pretty happy to see a game where the game development isn’t halted by GW.

Like with VT2’s launch, they’re slotted their community, there aren’t really any Devs that try to emulate the same sort of things.( Pretty much just need to carry on their game till people are satisfied for long enough that they’re more likely to buy their next one.

Bro, you have put 5200 hours in and are playing with people who have 6k hours. Of course the game is easy for you, its insane that you would think that FS would focus on people who are playing this game at full time job levels when most people put sub 100 hours into a game. The ultra vets of the game segregating themselves off from the rest of the player base has also been a problem for the player base leading to tons of fights about balance decisions and game direction. But also like the game must not be that bad if you’re literally playing it as a part time job. Kind of insane to post about how much you dislike it at that point man.

why do you want balance a game around ''tourists, ?

You balance the game around the majority of your players, people with 5200 hours don’t play the game the same way or at the same difficulty as the majority of players. Which causes things to get balanced around high havoc instead of auric damnation where most people play. If newer players pick up the game and things feel bad, they put the game down.

i dont think fatshark is balancing around 5200h players because basically every build way overpowers h40 currently

if they were actually balancing for 5000+ hour ultrasweats, then they would probably make h40 difficult for them

i think fatshark mostly balances around casuals who want to beat h40 which explains why everything is so op at this point

And yet for the vast majority of the playerbase, Havok is completely insurmountable so your opinion as a veteran of the game doesn’t align with the majority opinion. That’s the point, entirely. What might be fun for you with making things even harder would make most people probably stop playing.

and yeah so far every patch significantly increased player power and made h40 easier. arbites made it way easier, then hive scum made it a lot easier again, and this current patch went in an interesting direction but it didn’t actually nerf any of the actual builds-overperforming issues and nerfed enemy spawns.

i trust them when they say they’ll make followup changes that make this latest patch logical but so far it’s mostly symbolical and the game just got easier yet again.

i think you are simply wrong to claim anyone but the majority of players, the casuals, are getting their way atm

and with that i think it’s fair of them to ask to get represented. make content for them too

Its wild to say that none of the top performing builds got nerfed when people have done the numbers and the overperforming weapons have lost 20% to 30% damage on average from this patch. Also almost all of the play testers for new content and balance are the 5000 hour crowd and it is balanced around their opinions.

but players will continue to just kill every non crusher with totally overpowered ways to apply 300k+ of dot stacks per mission. and now there’s less crushers. the weapons that got nerfed by 20-30% had that specific performance nerfed against crushers of which there’s 35% less. see what I mean? things got nerfed but the game still managed to get easier

but as i said I trust they’ll follow this up with things that make sense. they went out of their way to explain a more comprehensive balance concept and it makes sense to me so i’ll just assume they will actually work towards what they said.

No, they got nerfed by 20 to 30 percent against, flak, maniac, carapace, and unyielding. Rending applies to all of those armor types. I agree that dots are out of control, but the rending nerfs also affected dots lowering their damage numbers because of the interaction between blessings and dots. Overall this patch was a good step in the right direction for most players.

that would make a big difference if those enemies didn’t just get burned by an inferno staff or other dot spam anyway which kills them just as well regardless. only crushers dont and their numbers got cut by a lot.
rending barely matters for dots outside of crushers anyway (other than bleed but it’s the burns that are meta anyway) and they for some reason got their adm and base damage increased anyway to compensate for the loss of uncanny which most meta dot spam builds didn’t even use

it’s really straight buffs to the meta builds while fixing some broken off meta builds which is a correct step to take I agree but it doesn’t actually nerf someone who is minmaxing

I guess we kind of got lost in the sauce a little but i do think fatshark still thinks of the majority casual playerbase the most truly and h40 didn’t get any harder for them if they copy meta builds, the opposite is the case

Unfortunately it seems Darktide is designed for casual players and casual play. Remember when they said they designed Vermintide 2 for players to spend around 100 hours?

8 Weeks of blight on havoc, it’s clear Fatshark either doesn’t care about Havoc mode or they want to make sure all high level players leave the game. Stuff like silent poxbursters dealing 100% of your HP when making no noise, terrible netcode, 3-4 years later it makes it clear they have no interest in fixing the core problems with the game. Like you say, their priorities currently are buffing purgatus staff or creating a new casual gamemode to bait downloads and engagement from new players while the core systems are still barely passable.

It’s time to accept Fatshark actively does not want us playing their game. This week’s update still having blight in havoc after EIGHT WEEKS is a sign to drop the game. I can only have Fatshark say “we hate you as an endgame player” so many times before I just move on to something else.

Yeah, honestly I trust basically nothing they say at this point. I don’t see how they could possibly improve the game when they’re running on the cheapest Amazon Servers money can rent and the whole game is built with the most confusing and janky rollback lag-compensation netcode I’ve ever seen in a video game. Many of the worst issues are baked into the game’s design. Worst of all, the things they actually DO have the ability to fix (like 8 weeks straight of blight spreads in havoc mode), they don’t seem to have any interest in fixing and instead focus on new content (expeditions already completely dead) or new balance changes that NOBODY asked for (buffing flame staff).
