Last weekend i had a few particularly enjoyable games of Chaos wastes with friends and i came to realise what sets it apart from other PvE roguelite games like Nightreign and mortis trials on DT.
Its the possibility to sit back and take a quick pissbreak/brew a coffee or make a sandwich!
Constant long strings of high energy gaming with no maintenance breaks make fatigue set in fast and gaming not enjoyable.
I made this advice because i am sure (ish you are working on darktide version of chaos wastes).
I miss the times when characters actually had time for their longer dialogues and missions actually had ups and downs, rather than being non-stop high-octane action.
Nowadays they canāt finish a sentence, because you constantly use your ability and disablers donāt stop spawning. Itās still fun, but at times feels⦠shallow.
Thatās ideally what mid-mission Boss fights, Auspex hacking events, and battery events should be - a break from the 24/7 conga line of Specialists, but due to the current nature of Elites and Specs not being a strong challenge against power crept players in smaller groups of Elites/Specs, thereās much more pressure to ramp up the spawn rate of these enemies to the point of instability - even during these events.
But, with the addition of Plasma Gunners and buffed Crushers, it appears as though Fatshark is moving towards making Elites more challenging opponents on an individual level, so thereās hope for better mission pacing in the future - missions with those high adrenaline difficulty spikes, but then ācoolingā periods in between those spikes for character dialog, focusing on events, better boss fights (multi phase boss fights with more interesting mechanics that donāt rely on just a void shield).
I wonder how many gamers arenāt aware that excessive gaming can really imbalance your dopamine levels. If gaming stops being fun, and you feel irritation more often than enjoyment⦠stop gaming, go outside, touch some grass, relax, ̶p̶u̶n̶c̶h̶ ̶a̶ ̶n̶e̶i̶g̶h̶b̶o̶u̶r̶.̶ ̶
inefficiency is heresy, eating is irrelevant when serving the emperor and my bladder is adamant
if iād take a break Iād get out of the flow, rather push it for a few hours with some energy drinks and take care of biological necessities afterwards.
but why? except havoc matches take around 20 minutes give or take.
when iām on my āzockzeitā I want to get in as many matches as possible, not drag a match to 40 minutes cause someone forgot to pee before clicking literally āreadyā
often times I ignore that āpressureā and rather squeeze another match in, pun intended
Sometimes you need to run to answer the door or an important phone call etc. In Havoc, taking your eye off the screen for seconds could be a team wipe. It requires an intense extended concentration (sometimes for over a solid hour) and the option for a quick pause could be very helpful.
Because itās a tiny QoL that most people can ignore and a handful of people can benefit from?
I donāt see it being used by most PUGs, but some of us run with pre made groups of IRL friends and weāre all totally cool with taking an unexpected 5 minute break to help bring in groceries.
