I’m not sure if it’s a game limitation or a set up issue. I really struggle to tell what way the enemies are coming from. Specifically the mutants and Pox bursters . I know they are coming (due to the audio cue) but there is no directional sound at all. They also sound really loud even when in the distance.
I play on both pc or Xbox with either sound bar or Xbox head phones. Always the same.
The rest of the audio cues are great such as noise for spawns and attacks from behind etc. really adds to the game. It’s just so frustrating to be looking everywhere for a mutant to be hit from the side or the back. Would be so much better if I could fix
Hi!
Sorry to hear that you have issues with hearing where enemies come from.
Is there anyway to set up directional Audio?
Generally all enemy sounds are directional/positional. You don’t need to do anything specific for this to work. It will work independent on platform and hardware.

There are exceptions but when the enemy has spawned and is moving towards you they always have positional sounds. Specials and Monsters have spawning sounds which are closer to stereo than fully positional. Positional sounds can also have a longer or shorter attenuation for game play reasons. One parameter that can be an issue is verticality. If the enemy is coming from above it can sound closer than it is. We are actively adressing (as in right now!) and working on these types of issues and hopefully it will get better in coming patches.
Hope that answers some of your questions?

Good to hear you’re working on it! Hopefully you guys are also aware of and working on the missing sound cues and completely silent enemies and backstabs? Which may or may not be about the sound system itself, or about server/lag etc.
Ok figured this out. Was using Bluetooth headphones ( the Xbox ones). If you use voice chat as well it down grades to mono audio. Used a cable and magically better
