I haven’t played much Trauma staff this patch since I was excited to try out the newly buffed weapons available to Psyker. But upon returning to Trauma, I was pretty disappointed in its AOE damage. I’m pretty sure you could put the circle in the middle of the Poxwalkers in the Meat Grinder and kill all of them with the explosion before patches 13/14, and now you only kill two–the rest take a paltry ~30ish damage, which is nothing.
The only nerf to the staff I see mentioned was in 13, but was only this:
Direct Secondary Explosion armour Modifiers:
Flak: 100% to 80%.
Carapace: 100% to 80%.
They even buffed the center of the explosion. But it feels off to me. So what do you think? Am I crazy or just misremembering?
I could be mistaken, but I feel like it’s epicentre/outer radius may have been bugged in the past or substantially larger.
AFAIK (hopefully someone can confirm/deny), the entire target area used to do full damage, and the outer radius was outside the target area.
Now, the epicentre has a radius of 1.5 - 2.5 units (from what I can tell, the blue/white swirl at the centre of your target is a good indicator of the epicentre), and the whole area is 2 - 10 units
That said, I can’t actually find any patch notes indicating such a change, but undocumented changes happen so…
EDIT: Oh, hang on… bit more testing, it looks like things are as I remember them. If a man-sized enemy is entirely within the circle (a TINY bit of overlap with the white ring is permitted), they should take full damage. For Ogryns, approx half of their body needs to be within the circle.
As other people mentioned it is probably an enemy buff rather than a Trauma nerf. I still think Trauma is fun and very powerful to use but you’re no longer going to be 2 shotting everything, which imo is a good thing.
