Alt + F4 right before your death and rejoin you can revive urself asap .
So many people atm trying to use this trick to speedrunning through the whole map.
Here my experience so far :
Most of them using Knife Zealot for speed boosting
They always play with at least 1 of their friends so they don’t get kick out of the game, or they’re gonna kick anyone who refuses to enter the ship at the end of the map
During the speedrun everytime they got down, they alt + f4 to revive themself and continue the run.
Had a knife zealot in my game today, ran forward, didnt attack an enemy once (0 damage dealt), died, stayed dead, aggro’d entire map + boss on us. I asked the players to votekick and the response from my teammate was “who tf cares”.
Alt + F4 isn’t connected to Knife Zealot at all. I see plenty of non-zealots do it.
As for speedrunning, it’s a legit playstyle. The failure and the selfishness are in speedrunners not communicating beforehand what they intend on doing.
I seriously wonder if this issue would be lessened, if the lobbies were around for longer than 1 single minute. At the current stage you cannot use the lobby to communicate. You can barely even switch a few talents or equipments. I don’t even understand why they allow switching items and inventory when you get some odd 50 seconds at most to do it.
I would also like to comment (as a recurring solution to most issues) that Vermintide already solved this inherently by replacing the player with a bot in the same situation (ie downed)
The solution to this problem would mean a fix of “inserting a bot with 25% hp when a player leaves” to having the bot be placed in a downed state if the player left while downed.
The other solution would require adding a way for a player who left to be put back in the state they left in/dced in.
Its a cheat death, and not intentional to the game. Do players encourage Alt+f4 practices?
I just leave the game, I would have been happy it was early in the match too.
Yes, we’re creating an unfair bias against knife zlots. Sorry to fan the flames on them.
The OP is about alt+f4
Agree.
Agree. The nice thing about V2 lobbies is you can get a snack, switch classes, decide on deeds, quickplay, etc. You have time to communicate, you also have time to decide if the lobby is right for you.
ok, sure.
Not the first time I had someone try and tell me this but sure, you have a crack at it.
When the game cheats you first, why is “cheating back” so unforgiveable?
Why have the last 40min wasted to BS like silent trappers or dodges not dodging etc?
I’m sorry but there is no way in hell that you can convince anyone that losing to unfair, unavoidable BS is better than wasting 4 peoples time.
What else would you like to happen when someone actually DCs? Is there nothing to replace them at all? Is the bot supposed to come in, already tied up or downed?
The only time I’ve seen people actually “abuse” this, is when the game actually cheated them to get disabled or downed. Any other time, the person that quit, never even came back!
Half the time it’s an actual DC anyways because “out of memory” crashed happen after almost every single game to several of my friends that I play with.
Played a few matches tonight after reading this topic today. If a player Alt+f4, I noticed if your bot dies it full heals you. You also get to skip the part where you are down! Thats incredible!
Context: Went through a game where a player kept leaving and coming back. Running ahead and dying and then alt+f4. free full heal and ammo! I asked if they Disconnected the first time but they did not respond.
I couldn’t really stand it after the 2nd time so I wished everyone gl and left.
In hindsight, there really is no reason for players like this not to exploit Alt+f4.
Let’s be real: the times you are thrown out of the map because of some glitch are negligible compared to the times it’s used by downed players to get back up.
It also emboldens “speedrunners” (there’s nowhere to run to unless the whole party is there with you…).
Yesterday I matched with a knife stealth zealot that was all the rage running around, aggroing the DH and immediately disconnecting so it suddenly changed its target to one of the other players.
Then coming back and cheesing the finale standing on top of a barrel where enemies could not touch him.
I blocked him midway through the run and he’s now the ninth knife zealot on my block list.
That’s a very funny response because it already works the exact same way as it does in VT2.
You get replaced by a bot when you DC.
The only thing that’s different is the ability to rejoin the match you DCed from.
And you cannot ask for that functionallity to be removed as it’s way too important for the many other cases in which it’s not just used to heal yourself after being a dumbass in a mission.
It’s the only way to save yourself when you’ve been thrown out of the map, it’s the only thing that offsets the frustration of the game cheating you and stealing time from you.
If you’re the one person holding the team together and you try to use it the way you suggest the other guy did, you will not be able to reconnect to a mission as that striketeam will have failed in the time it took you to quit and come back.
This strategy only works if the team you’re doing this too, would be fine without you. I.e. You can kick that guy with almost no consequences if you’re that annoyed by it.
This should get slapped with “not a bug” as this is working as intended.
Let’s be real: this is wrong.
Do you have any idea how many times I was the one person keeping the run alive AND was thrown out of the map by a mutant? In any normal circumstance in which you hug a wall so the mutant doesn’t slam you and actually helps you escape the corner you found yourself surrounded in, you would’ve survived unscathed! What you’re telling me here is that that tactical decision should’ve been rewarded with instant defeat.
No it does not! The lack of a solo private game does.
The actual reason why you see people trying speedrun stats in PUGs in because they cannot run a map solo and are therefore forced into doing so in a public game.
Yes, doing it that way is selfish and should be rewarded with a swift kick from the team but being able to reconnect to a mission you were previously in, is not what enables that behaviour.
“My way to have fun is the correct way to have fun and yours is not” is all you’re actually saying here.
If you choose to leave/quit the game, then why should the game hold your slot?
Obviously, out-of-bounds issues need to be addressed beforehand, since there’s no reasonable alternative - you can (a) find a chasm to jump into so you can get picked up later, (b) leave to start matchmaking again or (c) Alt-F4 to unstick yourself
most of the times my teammates are too stupid to even notice whats happening and the zealot makes it to the first airlock before the vote kick times out
No no, they have a point. I leveled a zealot recently, and the moment I equipped a knife I felt the overwhelming urge to run ahead, and try to solo the mission. A stopwatch even appeared at the top right corner of my screen.
Things we’re going well almost a full 60 seconds in when I was grabbed by a trapper on a bridge, and so I pulled a gamer move, called everyone racial slurs and quit out the game.
Upon re-entering the match I pretended none of that even happened, ran ahead, and got grabbed by a hound.
