Darktide Process Does Not Die on Steam

Issue Type (Required):

Launcher

Issue Description (Required):

When closing the game through the in-game menu, the process does not end according to Steam, requiring it to be killed manually either by pressing the STOP button in the Steam UI or by killing the process in Task Manager

Extra Note:

This process will stay active for hours until manually stopped.

My does quit eventually, but it takes a painful amount of time (like 30 seconds).

+1 on this thread, process won’t end without user interference.

Look for “Crashreport” in your task manager, if its there then thats most likely what is making steam think the game is still running, so try to close that and see if steam gets the hint.

Oh finally someone else has this problem.

It may be useful for the devs if people with this problem allow it to sit for at least 10 minutes before killing it and then posting the logs.

Personally it’s only taking about 10 seconds to finally exit for me.

edited original post to reflect that this process stays active for hours until manually killed.
as far as a log goes, if i knew which one to upload, i would upload it. the game does not crash, the process simply continues running once the game is shut down through the menu.

If it’s easily reproducible just reproduce it and then upload the log with the most recent timestamp. It’s not a crash log so it should hopefully show what is taking so long, or at least what was the last thing that printed to the log.

Which log? What is the file location for the one I should upload?

Press the Windows key + R
Enter %appdata% within the search input and select ‘OK’
Navigate to \Roaming\Fatshark\Darktide\console_logs

it should be something like:

console-{Date and Time}-{bunch of letters}.log

It’s been an issue for a while. It comes and goes for me every other patch. I too had to force quit it through Steam.

Been an issue for years. Currently it exits just fine but that wasn’t the case just a couple of months ago. For me, anyway.

Your guess is as good as mine.
