Darktide - Fortunes of War - Gamemode

I think adding something similar to the game, would make it interesting, a game mode where cooperation is more needed, but also a challenging map to allow clutch moments if things goes wrong.

Fortunes of War was a special map in VERMINTIDE 1 and VERMINTIDE 2 survival based map
(it was mostly fun on Vermintide 2) and how it works is, if somebody dies, they will not respawn until the “wave” is finished. then they will respawn in order to get ressed.

although the new karnak twins it is a very challenging content, i’d like something like Fortunes of War but in Darktide for more challenge.

Rewards from it it could be like in the previous vermintide II game: a series of portrait frames for all difficulties you complete the special map.

You get a small taste of it Everytime you’re waiting for an elevator… I don’t think an entire map of it is great. It would just be teams of zealots running laps, out running specials

no it was a 100% scripted mission of vermintide 2 organized in waves, the one you referring from vermintide 1 was the endless waves last stand mode and it was 100 times better, needless to say they never did this again in the other games despite everyone asking for it

multiplied by every direction enemies could spawn

yea the spawns were scripted but obviously the feeling in general it had a different vibe everytime.
Fortunes of War was a good map because of the challenge behind, especially the last waves, testing the ability of players in being coordinated.

I’d like something similar to be in Darktide.
In Vermintide 1 the last stand mode it was a bit boring to be honest, but because VT1 was balanced in a different way. But it was still fine.

in my opinion, not really, not the same thing.
But I can see your concern about using Zealots.
that would depend how they would balance the map and spawns.

also if it is like fow, it would be very coop focused.
only zealots i think it would be bad, even if they are strong. synergies from other characters etc combined and other strong classes still exist… should be balanced regardless of the team composition. and I can tell you that FoW in cataclysm is soloable with all classes. i doubt only zealots would play there.

In FoW, you could outrun with specific builds but barely, and sometimes it was still risky, especially when you do that for various plenty minutes.

I played with one of the best players in FoW (I also finished Fow in cataclysm true duo, sometimes even solo in various waves, and once trio with onslaught + deathwish, cataclysm 3 + twitch mode Fow) not to enter in the detail, but I can say that besides outrunning, walking slowly was actually a good tactic and strategy, because it was making enemies to walk slowly too, and sometimes even nullfying some of their attacks. and this happen even in darktide with certain weapons if walking backward, or especially if you slowly walk (which i don’t think theres a key for this, but with a mod it is possible to slowly walk)

i think also having similar content in DT, would allow people to test builds in more extreme situations and increasing skill expression for players in general. also new maps new stuff always good imo. chaos wastes in vt2, some people don’t like, but other people do like it, same for versus…
