Issue Description:
Hello. After starting the game, I can select a character game starts loading and after a while the game crash.
This starts to happened after trying to use the Granular Settings mod

I wanted to increase the mouse DPI and needed to reduce the mouse sensitivity in the game.
To try gaming on high dpi mouse (g502 hero).
I uninstalled the game, deleted the configuration files and reinstalled the game along with the gpu drivers and Microsoft Visuals C++ 15-22. Unfortunately, the game still crashes to the desktop. I choose the character, it starts loading and it crashes.

Please try this:

Delete Darktide AppData & Verify Integrity of Game Files

NOTE: This will reset any custom keybindings.

  1. Press the Windows key + R
  2. Enter %appdata% within the search input and select ‘OK’
  3. Navigate to: AppData\Roaming\Fatshark
  4. Delete the entire ‘Darktide’ directory
  5. Launch Darktide as normal

You will then need to use the ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’ option, which is accessible via the Steam client and will ensure the installation is complete.

  1. Right-click Darktide in your Steam library sidebar
  2. Select ‘Properties’
  3. Select the ‘Local Files’ tab
  4. Select the ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’ button
  5. When complete, close and reopen Steam

NOTE: If Steam Cloud saving is enabled for Darktide, this may automatically restore the AppData and consequently cause the error to resurface. You can disable Steam Cloud Saving for Darktide via the Steam client by:

  1. Navigate to your Steam library
  2. Right-click Darktide
  3. Select ‘Properties’
  4. On the ‘General’ tab, scroll down to ‘Steam Cloud’
  5. Disable ‘Keep game saves in the Steam Cloud for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide’

Hello. I have tried all these tips, including re-downloading the game from Steam, nothing helps. Today I also tried playing on the GeForce Now streaming service, someone advised me. And unfortunately, Darktide crashed on GeForce Now in exactly the same way. So the game starts, I select a character, the game starts loading as if normally and then suddenly crashes.

Please may I confirm you’ve ran through every step in my post above, is that right? I was expecting that to solve it, as I suspect your user_settings.config is corrupted, so I’m very surprised!

Yes, I tried all the above tips together but they did not help and, as I wrote, the game also does not work via the Nvidia GeForce Now stream (so my PC only streamed) and the symptoms are the same. I choose a character, the game loads and crash to the Windows desktop. It looks like the game server is kicking me :frowning:

Do you have multiple operatives? My next question would be, have you tried to load in using another operative? Just trying to brainstorm as to what’s happening here.

Yes, I have four old characters (over 800 hours of play) and the game crashes on all of them. I also tried to create a new character and play the prologue, it also crashed.

I have this exact same issue. Game was working fine last night, nothing has changed since I last played. I can choose any operative and once the loading is done the screen turns black and it just crashes.
