Darktide 2, Hive Secundus

Hive Secundus would be a great place to use for the next game in the Darktide series. Same concept as Darktide, Inquisitor send teams of rejects into the remains of Hive Secundus to fulfill various missions. Hive Secundus has a large variety of enemies of the Imperium to fight. The hive city itself has been abandoned and severely damaged by Imperial bombardment.
Here is a lore video for those not familiar with Hive Secundus. Hive Secundus

Unlike Vermintide, I don’t believe that Darktide’s in any genuine need of a sequel.

Unlike VT1, Darktide is made with updates set in mind, so yes it’s unlikely to ever ā€˜need’ a sequel.

More so when they can simply do unrelated tide games set in fantasy (Dreadtide, Lizardtide, Deadtide…), 40k (Dakkatide/Greentide, Tyranidtide, Necrontide…) or AoS (Destruction tide, or Death tide…) without ā€˜needing’ to attach it to the previous games.

Tbh even for VT3 I’m somewhat against it. I’d rather see FS do new thing, with a new cast, and a new tide. Heck, do a different Ip (Not tied to GW) or invent their own.

As for Hive Secondus of Necromunda, I don’t think it really work for a tide game, on the other hand, a Hunt Showdown-esque game, or a hunting game could work quite well.

Still think that a Necromunda character shooter would be great (but not by FS)

I’d definitely love for there to be a game like Insurgency: Sandstorm but set in the 40K universe.

Maybe you’d play as Enforcers and Hive Gangers fighting it out across a Hive World of some kind.

Depends when they find some features they want to add that the current engine can’t handle. Flying enemies for starters

It’s less the engine and more the maps that cause issue with flying enemies.

I think it’s the way the engine handles enemies no? They require an active floor tile to work I believe? With an infinite vertical cone.

I could be wrong but thought someone mentioned that was how flying enemies worked. If so that’s definitely a failure of engine imo. Maps are going to have voids and ledges, can’t avoid those.

That’s how most game do flying enemies.

But it doesn’t mean that it’s always the case, and while there are certain enemies that do so (VT2: Chaos Sorcerer Lord; DT: DH), it doesn’t mean that every enemy work like that (and in theory, there is also elements that can freely fly over chams, VT2’s Flaming Skull and True flight Arrows

It does seem like a very restrictive mechanic if they can’t put enemy exclusive tiles over voids etc.

I’ve not looked into it at all regarding DT so only commenting on things I’ve been told.

Does still sound like engine woes if it’s not an easy thing for them to implement. Surely they would have if it was. DT really really would benefit from some verticality threats imo. It’s very horizontal at the mo.

i think FS is working on a side project in unreal engine 5 if i’m not wrong
don’think it will be even warhammer related, hopefully some new IP cause FS was creative with their old games. and better to get rid off the GW limitations

They’re one of the very few studios who make actually incredible GW games. Please chain them to the ip and throw away the key as far as I’m concerned :joy:

Do the characters even talk about Secundus anymore? I haven’t heard any plot relevant dialogue in a minute

True,
I’d much more like to see Darktide being kept alive by good Addons,
then seeing Darktide 2.

Also THAT Hive Secundus is on Necromunda, not Atoma.

the vast majority of hive cities tend to build the new hive on the old hive, so the other two are probably bring crushed under the current one. heck, that’s probably where the cult’s main strongholds are. people want a bunch of new maps NOW and think this will get them that though.

Underhive doesn’t mean different hive.

We’ve already had clarified that there are multiple Hives on Tertium.

Pretty sure theres 3 based on the name Tertium and skins that were lore easter eggs. Plus 2 sister hives that are ā€œlostā€ but people still visit/run missions in. Pretty sure underhive just means the bottom levels of a hive, under the common-middle class levels. Idk pls correct me if im wrong anyone.
