Darkness!

In the grimdark future of warhammer 40k, the cutting edge technology of wearable flashlights has been lost to the ages!

I can buy night vision goggles but they are cosmetic only, no function.

The dark mode is one of those things that makes me think that attachments have to be coming at some point. Too few weapons have flashlights.

True but the lights out levels are really very cool. The whole game has great atmosphere to it but the dark levels with crazy fights smoke fire eyes in the dark they are the best.

imo its one of the ways this game really shines

lights out is definitely fun with a group of 4 people and one veteran with a flashlight, otherwise you just see when someone shoots or if the zealot uses the flame thrower XD.

totally, my only complaints are that we should all get some kind of light source and that enemies shouldn’t be able to see us as though the lights were on.

Having been able to play some today (bless the Omnissiah for giving me the opportunity) I’ve learnt to scan for the glowing eyes of enemies.

I love the PSI modifier. I understand that some people dislike it, but for me it’s really cool. If only people learnt that tagging is a lot more important there and to stick closer together since it’s harder to anticipate things in the dark.

facts tagging is your light source XD

Flashlights should be available for all classes and not just weapon bound.
So that if you join a Mission, even with quickplay, you not have the bad luck of joining it with a non flashlight weapon. So it should be equipped automatically as soon as you join a mission with power outage. (toggle able via shot key like ‘‘L’’)

  • Vet: A flashlight on his shoulder like the ones from the marines in the movie Alien. ( thin cone of light, but long range)

  • Ogryn: A big Lamp on his Belt. ( small range, but wide cone)

  • Zealot: Torches in V shape attached to the back. ( small range, but shining around 380°)

  • Psyker: Blue styled warp like night vision. ( wide range like his normal view, but gaining 2% peril every 2 seconds)

Some pretty simple improvements to blackout missions I thought of after getting to play them like two times.

-Let us see our teammates’s loadouts before starting the mission so we can see whether or not somebody needs to bring a flashlight

-Add DRG style throwable flares or give everybody a weak shoulder light like in GTFO so you can at least navigate the level if nobody happens to bring a flashlight

-partial outages throughout the level and/or random blackouts as you progress instead of/in addition to fully dark missions (more dynamic and unpredictable elements in existing maps would add some much needed variety)

-Every “basic” weapon (lasguns, autoguns, basically anything that doesnt have a more specific alt fire effect) should at least be able to swap between a flashlight and bayonet/laser attachment for pistols

yeah it works but again, bleh. How am I tagging them if i cannot see them? The whole mode needs a lot of polish.

I would like enemies have their own light sources, like one or two guys in a dreg patrol having torches, a dreg stalker patrol looking around with flashlights, scab shooters throwing flares, thing like that that liven up lights out a little bit.

Everyone does have a wearable flashlight but it only illuminates like 1m away at most.

God, it’s so frustrating to play with this modifier and not have anyone else ever tag anything. It’s so dumb.

Attachments were coming but the executives in their infinite wisdom scrapped it in favor of useless cosmetic for weapons.
