CrossPlay F.A.Q

You are aware that single periods exist, yes? You don’t need to end every karking sentence with an ellipsis.

I mean, fair. I absolutely cannot play FPS at all with a Playstation controller, I’m absolute trash with it. Using a bluetooth one these days on all the things has been a godsend, lol.

Vermintide 2 I’ve played just over 1k hours on Steam, and 90% of that was M&K, the difference in snap-aiming at specials between controller and M&K is definitely absurd. Bounty Hunter Saltz is busted AF on M&K. But I started chilling with controller to get used to it before Darktide, only for them to not allow controller rebinding and they’ve got the bumpers swapped between the games. It’s infuriating AF.

I can definitely get behind the WTF about not being able to opt out, I assume it’s some technical issue considering it’s this game, lol.

Enemies don’t move around enough for me to throw gas on this debate. I will say I did play with lots of well to do rat killers on VT2, the group still uploads solo runs of the 121-160 weaves. Where there is a desire for violence and an outlet there is high player skill, always. This isn’t PVP, do the dregs and scabs with their very generous slow reaction times even warrant a mouse?

Why can Xbox opt out of crossplay but steam can’t? This doesn’t seem right

Ralendil works at a level beyond your feeble understanding… Do not question his methods…

Actually this was brought up before and I do believe Fatshark is indeed contractually obligated to provide this feature on any of their products. Now why this option is missing from Steam. I’ve no idea.

Catfish! Question! Not sure if anyone has asked this, but for xbox users is cross-play set as on as default or off?

I’d assume it’s ON by default - hence saying you have the choice to “opt out” if you want.

I’d love to see a video of someone clearing high intensity damnation on controller and NOT being carried.

Maybe I’m just trash using a controller with FPS games (and I even played a bit with a controller a bit on DARKTIDE just to see how it went), but even with aim assist there’s no way to have responsiveness to deal with tense chaotic situations on a controller when stuff is coming at you from every angle. It’s neither fast enough or precise enough. But again, maybe I’m just bad.

Hopefully controller users don’t get anywhere near damnation, and I’m fine with that. If I have to carry a controller user all the time it’s going to be miserable IMHO.

I’ve seen a few people say they’ve been doing it, but I just find it hard to believe that there isn’t some degree of detriment to the team. The amount of times I’ve had to do quick snapshots and turn 90+ degrees to a marked target is so high, which I just don’t see how it’s possible to do on a controller.

Even if someone is competent on a controller, there are just some things that they won’t be able to do nearly as well which leads to a disadvantage to the team as a whole.

I wonder how much this has to do with them anticipating that the xbox version won’t do as well, and don’t want them to be as isolated as the gamepass players were since I have a feeling a lot of PC players don’t want to play with people using controllers.

That is a fair point and likely correct.

It seems very odd and a frankly questionable choice to make it opt out on Xbox but not on PC. At least sharing the reasoning for this would help curb us having to wildly speculate to come up with a reason for why it’s gonna be this way.

I don’t see the point.

I don’t think I am alone to have a doubt that a controller is as efficient as is a keyboard and mouse.

As I said, we don’t have to worry as we won’t know it… We will just wonder why this guy die so often…

And I just question the fact that steam users cannot opt out like on xbox/gamepass. Off course, as I said it, I suppose that, now, everybody is happy with this situation.

I didn’t mean anything by it, I’m just playing with the complaint about your use of ellipses.

Oh ok…

Have fun…

Did not see the starting message (ignore list)

After having played about 200 hours in DT and clearing high intensity damnation fairly comfortably, I spent probably 10 hours messing around with a controller. It was miserable and best I could manage was Malice difficulty, and even then was surely getting carried a bit.

Melee combat was okayish so long as I could maintained good positioning relative to me team and didn’t get flanked or surrounded.

If I had to do any major repositioning or drastic maneuvers (clutch, revives, etc) it was nearly
Impossible.

Ranged combat was pretty difficult with any guns where accuracy matters (lasgun, Autogun, hellebore, etc). Fighting with masses of enemy shooters and fine tuning my position relative to cover was hard. Again - if I only had to deal with one direction of enemy fire it was okay, but when getting flanked or having to support a teammate it was rough.

It’s entirely possible damnation will remain fairly safe because getting into heresy is going to be enough of a barrier for controller users.

they will just nerf t4 and t5 so console players can play it. Harsh reality unfortunately

Well hey I might actually be able to play higher difficulties so I see nothing wrong with this /jk

@FatsharkCatfish why can PC players not opt out but xbox players can exactly? Seems counterintuitive to fostering player choice.

Good question, Mr. Flow! Here, have a profile picture or three:
