Crafting is still bad Fatshark

This isn’t destiny.
When your peak player count goes from 100k and drops to 2k in a matter of months, with players coming back to the news of a more customizable skill tree, that’s all the proof you need that players hate the RNG. Even if you have some delusional belief that RNG equates to player retention, then explain to me why a peak player count of 100k dropped to a meager 2k in a matter of months. This idea that RNG is a strong player retention strategy is dead wrong. What does retain players is the game/combat loop. You nail that and your game will last a lifetime. TF2 is the perfect example of this, that game is over a decade old and refuses to die.

You seem to have an issue with understanding other people don’t enjoy the same things you do.

You obviously like RNG. Others do not.

You are allowed to like RNG. Others are allowed not to like it. You keep telling people they do not like what they claim and that you know better than them what keeps them engaged.

Not sure what you will accomplish here.

Well, as you said, this isn’t TF2.
How do you like such logic applied to your arguments?

Popularity of games depends from lots of issues.
And yes, RNG is is a positive factor if applied carefully.

It is like arguing that drugs are better than real life.
Oh, I do not expect you will understand this comparison, but it is accurate 99%.

Ask Alan Watts if you do not believe me.

ROFL 1k hours in Destiny 2 and 4k hours in Warframe…

You lost all credibility…

I am game developer with 15 years of experience as well, so yeah, normies dismiss me pretty fast usually.
They know better ofc, but they will never get a job in game industry cuz they do not wan’t it. They like to make genius suggestions on forums, cuz game developing is straight forward and very simple. Anyone can make one for a couple of hours.

Such an ironic tragedy!

Seems you are unteachable then, since 15 years isn’t enough for you to understand what feedback means and that fact there are different genres not just “games”, so itemization and gear progression in DT vs Destiny/Warframe are on complete different levels. 15 years, sure.

But keep posting, people should see what type of clowns says rng&crafting in DT are fine designed.

I think if the shop would not be based on time but for example, would refresh after a mission. Then it would also be much more tolerable.

I hope they will introduce the red weapons soon, so we can get a proper crafting system then. Its also about the cost per upgrade (plasteel). Which is still way too high. Maybe break the locks?!?

I think it would be better to have brunt armory, feature an order made weapons: complete series of missions to gain the weapon with good stats. 1-3/1-9 missions based on rarity.

This would give us more agency in the system. Personally I hate anything with an RNG, but thats just IMO.Then again If its well made, its well made and I can live with it.

The problem is the inability to refresh or speed up the cycle… Just like the FOMO cosmetic shop which I hate with a passion and will never stop bashing until its similar to vt2 shop or removed. Its just ****

How about this then:
I didn’t craft a single item for over 800hours of my 1520 in VT2 and the only ones I recently crafted are the necromancer weapons…

Going from hour 700 to 1519, I didn’t craft a single new item. I might’ve rerolled a few properties but I 100% didn’t craft new ones. Didn’t stop me from getting another 112% extra playtime however.

You not believing this guy is simply so you continue to have a point which we all know you don’t have…

Oh I just saw this gem…
Yeah, you clearly know what we want when we say that locks need to go and that crafting is bad.

What’s next? Gambling is just a matter of time until you win? Just spin the slots harder?

Got to love that half this thread is everyone arguing with a single delusional troll (or a Fatshark exec, one of the two) because the universal agreement for everyone NOT a troll is that RNG is garbage.

Lol XD

A bunch of “experts” decided meta loop for the game on forum XD.

“Reddit Nerds vs RNG”

Do you even realize that there is no good games without time gates and RNG? Yeah, I herd that TF2 has no RNG, except bullet spread XD. And why TF2 needs bullet spread???
Do you know the answer?

My god, how old are you all?

You were right @Ragnarok101 , this guy has to be a troll

You completely ignored my statement to cherry-pick one thing I said.
So what if you’re a game developer with 15 years of experience? That doesn’t make you right, it’s a logical fallacy called “Appeal to authority” furthermore you’re neglecting to mention what “successful” games you’ve worked on. For all we know you’re a developer who made flash games on Kongregate, which hardly qualifies you.

With that said allow me to repeat my question to you: Even if you have some delusional belief that RNG equates to player retention, then explain to me why a peak player count of 100k dropped to a meager 2k in a matter of months. This idea that RNG is a strong player retention strategy is dead wrong.

TF2 players hate RNG actually, they hate the bullet spread and they hate crockets, etc.
That’s why in official competitive servers they’re turned off. It’s also why community servers (Such as the Uncle Danes server) have RNG turned off and the Uncle Danes server is very popular.

Honestly, you don’t have a leg to stand on. The whole thread is against you and “you” still think it’s a good idea. You’re fortunate your chosen profession isn’t politics because you would have a very short career.

I have no intention of doing so anymore, don’t you worry. and put him on ignore

“The whole thread is against you”.
Omg the WHOLE 2 guys.
Do you really think you are right if somebody agrees with you?

Do you think games fail because RNG and this is the only reason it can happen? Really???

You are lucky you found another dumbo who thinks like that so you can feel you right.

Still cherry-picking and deflecting I see.
You want to know what makes me think I’m right?
It’s not holding a popular opinion that makes me think I’m right, it’s the fact you cannot answer my one simple question. That is, if RNG is such a strong “player retention strategy” then why did Darktide’s player base drop from 100k to 2k in a matter of months? Do you want a hint? It’s because RNG is not a strong player retention strategy, it never has been.

I’m all for increasing Darktides longevity, but I’m not in favor of using an unpopular strategy that has been proven not to work for this game title. Darktides Essence is based on L4D2, which is an FPS, coop, horde strategy game. RNG just doesn’t work for such a game because it’s not an RPG or Dungeon and Dragons game. The flaw in your logic is you think one size fits all. It doesn’t.
