I will answer your question:
Because RNG is not the only factor.
You know, if you do not like core loop no RNG will retain you.
If your rig can only provide 30 fps on lowest settings possible, you wont enjoy that game.
If you do not understand core mechanics you will be confused and stop playing the game, cuz low difficulty is borring and high is impossible.
Todays games are complex systems. You can’t just turn off RNG and expect it won’t have an effect on other components.
Idk why I am talking to you, you will say that am cherry picking amd wrong cuz “whole” forum is on your side anyway.
In other words: “Poor game design”
Are you saying Darktide is a poorly designed game?
If that is the case then your golden goose strategy of RNG won’t save it.
Literally only talking about the crafting system here. You’re the one obsessed with RNG.
Do I really have to remind you that the main focus of the subject is that people want a better craft system, such as having the locks removed and red items. Has nothing to do with RNG.
Not bad game design, just not many people like such setting or gameplay.
Do you like Fortnight?
Many people like it, but I don’t.
This doesn’t mean Fortnight has bad game design.
Marketing is also like 50% of success.
This topic is complicated and you guys think that everything is simple because you know too little about games.
It is not complicated. 100k peak players dropped to 2k within a matter of months, that is an insane churn rate. Especially when you consider how popular the 40k universe is. Its counterpart L4D2 is performing well and it is over a decade old, it has an average player base of 20k with a peak being 80k. Do you want to know what L4D2 doesn’t have? RNG. The core game loop holds up to this day and RNG plays no part in the core game loop. Once again proving that “RNG” is not a player retention strategy.
Funny how decade-old games are preforming better than most modern games, but that’s because Devs back then actually made games that were fun without corporate oversight.
I played L4D2. And yes it has a lot of RNG.
Lets start from hordes spawns, Tank spawns and mutants pool for enemy team. You cant choose which mutant to play, you get random one. So I call it RNG.
What L4D2 doesn’t have at all is meta progression.
About your 100k.
Show me proves RNG is the reason of online drop.
It’s not as random as you would think. Tank and horde spawns have a lot of fixed events on certain maps, where they will always spawn. The AI director is in charge of random spawns but they’re not as random as you would think here either, there’s a cooldown timer in place between specials and hordes spawns. If you run off the AI will intentionally spawn specials to pin the lone survivor. Essentially the AI director fills the role of the Dungeon Master, but it still plays by fixed rules and generally, you know what to expect, when hordes or specials do spawn you are always given a warning and know exactly what to expect.
All of this happens in the actual game, which is fine. Having RNG in a craft system is objectively bad.
L4D2 has something Darktide 2 doesn’t have. Mod support. I can turn the default SMG into the Halo assault rifle if I want to. I can turn the zombies into Teletubbies if I want to. We have creative freedom in L4D2. Darktide does not have any creative freedom. What little we do have (being the craft system) has restraints built onto it.
There is no angle you can approach from that is going to change peoples minds since your arguments are objectively wrong, so just give it a rest already.
There is indeed bullshît at work. Copious amounts of bullshît. But not from whom you’re implying.
I don’t know what personal stake you have in this position or why you’re throwing the equivalent of a temper tantrum on the forum, nor frankly do I care, because you’re just making a mess of the thread.
Debate is one thing, but if you want to just pick fights then go to reddit or somewhere that isn’t here. And if you’re hoping to convince others of your position, then your communication leaves a lot to be desired.
It is fitting that you’ve chosen to name yourself “Uranus” because you exhibit all the capacity for discourse and juvenile temperament of a petulant child.
And as is the case with eponymous planet, you are likewise confined to the far reaches of the back.
Through your own bad behavior you prove this assessment to be demonstrably true.
Do you not realize that no one appreciates or values your input at this point?
Also, Darktide does not have official mod support. L4D2 modding community is huge and we’re talking skins, maps, weapons, campaigns, the whole shebang. Darktide mods barely scratch the surface of that.
I started from telling that RNG is a great way to keep players interested. You told me, that my opinion is wrong because I am objectively wrong.
Discussion started.
I like discussions, they are tend to reveal truth or get to the bottom of the problem.
Do you guys expect 100% unanimity from feedback forums?
If I create topic “Craft system is great” will you ignore it or go answer “good copium, delusional troll”?
You’re not arguing to get to the truth, you’re arguing to dispute other people’s arguments, there’s a difference. You also refuse to see the other side’s viewpoint and you do not contribute anything original to the discussion, you go off like a broken record, repeating the same thing only in a different variation. How many times do we have to tell you we do not like RNG in the craft system for you to realize we’re frustrated by it and not engaged by it?
Emperor, I dare you to make a thread that the craft system is great and to list your reasons as to why you think so, let’s see how many people actually agree with you.
Lastly, if you really don’t care then you have no business being here, because we do care.
