I’ve essentially reached endgame as far as Darktide goes, all I’m really focusing on at this point is getting the weapons and curios with the perks and blessings I want.
Between the Ordo Dockets cost, the ongoing Plasteel concern, and just having to “roll” weapons from Brunt’s armory, I just have no drive left to play the game.
And then on the 1 out of 100 rolls I do actually get decent stats on the weapon, I ended up throwing it in the dumpster, because the rolls I get on the perks and blessings are bad.
It’s RNG piled on top of RNG. It’s absolutely awful and completely kills my motivation to continue playing the game. A rule of thumb for any video game should to be never to stack RNG.
My thoughts for “fixes” for this:
-The simplest and best change I can think of is when “rerolling” perks/blessings, don’t lock out the other one. This massively reduces grind with this one change alone and solves almost all the problems with this endgame grind in one go.
We still have to roll for weapon stats, but at least when we get the stats we want, we don’t have to worry about just throwing it away because we couldn’t roll at least 2 out of the 4 perks/blessings we wanted to get. And with the amount of perks and blessings, the chances of this happening are excessively low.
-Makes Brunt’s armory cost less Ordo Dockets. This doesn’t have to be a large amount, but even a 2k-3k reduction in cost would go a long way.
-A (probably) more complicated change, would be to make the stats on the weapon itself rerollable. This isn’t imo the best option, but it would help.
-When scrapping an upgraded item, refund a portion of Plasteel/Diamantine that went into it, as well as increasing the Ordo Docket return. The fact the a legendary item gives me back less Ordo Dockets than it costs for one white weapon from Brunt’s armory is kinda silly.
These “fixes” kinda all point to one thing: reduce the RNG or make the RNG less painful to work around.
I want to play Darktide, but I also want to feel a sense of improvement and progression. Where I’m at right now I have just hit a brick wall. Every 5-10 hours of gameplay I might get a decent roll on a weapon’s stats, and then have an overly small chance of rolling a couple perks or blessings that I actually want on said weapon.
Also yes, we know. Everyone hates it but Fatshark devs don’t play their own game without millions of resources so they refuse to acknowledge that it sucks.
Yea it’s not great, but it’s worlds better now than it was a few months ago. And improvements seem to keep getting made (like shared resources most recently).
u want a tip. just pick up the odd weapon over base 370 in shop u never know if u like it and get some blessings ur missing in melk.
melt down every bad emperors gift for blessings
mats will become usless after a while and u don’t know what to do with your plastseel diamantien and melkbucks and have tons of high lvl wepons with good rolls.
Doesn’t fix the crafting but much better then wasting time and sanity spamming the shop for a god-roll weapons
Yeah I just use the browser and stock pile bases. Even for weapons I don’t like or use in case things get buffed or nerfed. The browser add on helps. I work from home so I casually look at it here and there, then boot up, quickly but stuff, and then shut it down. It’s very annoying and doesn’t encourage a good gameplay loop. When you have three million ordos you don’t need to play the game to progress your gear. You need to wait every hour on the hour to look at it with a browser because it’s more efficient and faster. Some even have the capability to buy the items outside the game. So what the heck are we even doing here fatshark? They’re so divorced from one another.
Ah, truly it is refreshing to see someone complain about crafting who had no idea that crafting has been close to the #1 complaint since like 8 months ago. I mourn your loss of innocence and welcome you to the brosgw forum monument pile.
I knew and still complained recently just so LargeFish can be reminded just a single more time that this system is awful and makes the game like 30% worse just by existing. And that them plugging their ears refusing to change it (or hint at their plans if they have any) is… a truly unflattering look.
You don’t even need to do this anymore, don’t give them their insidious eyeball metrics by booting the game. You buy stuff with this and it doesn’t even inventory flag when you come into the game, but its all there. Modders win again.
