Again, this means you are far more skilled than average Legend player, so go and play Cataclysm, it has been introduced for you elite gods of rat slaying. Why you all trying to deny other people from playing Legend and get their red skins? This is not even competitive pvp game where you can get an edge by making obstacles for other players getting better gear, so whats your point? I find Champion too easy and boring, but i dont ask devs to tune up all Champion maps to Legend difficulty levels to screw Champion players and feel myself l33t, i just go and work on next difficulty instead. If devs ever tune all Legend maps to current CoD level, i can guarantee most legend players will leave the game, because difficulty gap will be too big. Boring and rewardless Champion or 1% chance of success Legend? No thanks.
Glad you mentioned leveling up their bots!
I just came from a solo Legend run of Convocation of Decay. Before even attempting Legend, I leveled up ALL my classes to 35 and equipped every character with 300 power level orange gear. I looked up guides for good team compositions, both what bots to bring and what loadouts to give them. I have, at the time of writing this, managed a Legend run of every Helmgart map in the game at least once - to get the shiny black and gold armor for my primary class - and I’m working on it for my second class.
Convocation of Decay is the hardest map to run. It is harder than Skittergate, by a fair margin. I literally cannot get better geared than I am now, except by lucking into more reds (I have a full set of reds on my main class, but my bots are still lacking red weapons). I am still consistently failing this map. Every other map is a challenge, sometimes even a slog. But with Convocation of Decay, I literally have to get lucky to finish the map.
Forget running with books, just finishing the map requires luck.
In all maps, bad luck can screw you - particularly on Legend. But when you do literally everything possible to tilt the odds in your favor and STILL can ONLY finish the map when luck favors you, well, that’s why people are complaining.
Because bots are luck. One time my bots suicide on the first wave, sometimes they are gods and never die. Playing with bots is literally rng.
I totally agree with Convocation and while I am on a mission to fix all the “All Helmgart Legend runs” and “100 runs” with every career, I think that I will go on when there’s only Convocation left because to me that map’s end event has gone from challenging to frustrating.
This is just my personal opinion but I’ll express it regardless.
The big problem to me isn’t that its hard. But that I am starting to feel like if it isn’t as fun as other maps, like “Old Haunts” or “Enchanter’s Lair” where the end event often kills me, but I feel like it can be done.
yea as @anon75893681 said, bots aren’t consistent
more importantly the game isn’t balanced around 1 player+3 bots
I’m pretty sure that increasing the wide of the platforme would increase significantly the players experience. The fact that the ennemies climb the platforme and cannot be staggered and the fact that they simply noclip trough you add some big artificial difficulty. Add to that the specials behaviour (gas rat insta throwing) and you get a deadly combo.
Also some changes could be made regarding the visual effects unless they are made that way on purpose.
I did tho succed in every single legend bot run i did so i wonder if maybe some elite spawns are bugged and are the cause of most whipes.
tbh the main issue with the event (as I said earlier in this thread) is that the visual effects are obnoxious
as for completing the event people just need to learn that they don’t need to stay in the circle 24/7 and to stick/kite together. It’s definitely one of the nastier events but I can’t say it gives me too much grief outside killing my eyes
The issue is that it’s a small arena, so everything seems much more. Like righteous stand also has elites + specials combo, on cata there is even a boss, but there it’s less noticeable then in a small arena, like convo. (this doesn’t mean im for them to increase the size of the platform)
When talking about an event if it should be nerfed we have to look at difficulty only.
Issues such as: Blightstomers casting trough walls or objects, gas rats or storms being barely or not visible, flashbang blinding you, climbing enemies phasing trough the player,…, those shouldn’t affect if an event should be nerfed. All the above should be fixed, no doubt, it doesn’t mean the event is too strong difficulty wise, and those issues shouldn’t make it so an event gets nerfed, just because those annoying issues exist.
All events might be OP if:
- you have no real team;
- you don’t look after teammembers;
- you get 3 blightstormers, 2 packrats and 1 assassin (true story^^)
Other than that - cull the enemies while they’re on the way, quickly kill specials and you’ll be ok
Whoa simmer down there buddy. There are a lot of ways to make the event easier on your own and I can give tips if asked. The event doesn’t need to be made smaller, the average player needs to learn a few things as there are a lot of commonly made mistakes made from what I see in Legend quickplays.
My point in the end is that players on Legend should be able to handle the difficulty since Fatshark has long since increased everybody’s power level and added even more powerful talents without adding much to the difficulty in return. Ultimately, as long as players don’t forget it’s a team-based game where they actually have to stick together, matches can be trivial most of the time, even on this map. The difficulty can be kinda hard, but it’s also lax enough that it can give players bad habits.
I want to believe, but I am not sure that I can.
I do find it funny that Fort Brachensbruke was nerfed to smithereens, and this event wasn’t touched.
Fort was relatively hard, but nowhere near as hard as Convocation’s event.
From my experience they both got nerfed. The difficulty was increased with WoM launch and around post WoM both these events were hard enough to wipe out 60-80% of my runs with inattentive/relaxed/unlucky people.
Frankly I loved it and would rather have them back.
Sorry if you felt offended, i didnt meant to…
I am reading and arguing in every topic about Convocation, so i have more than enough tips on how to do this map
. I can even boast that after 1060 hours in game i have only 4 of 16 careers left to beat this map for achievement/skins before i start immediately pressing alt-f4 when i hear Convocations intro
Problem is that having my knowledge how to beat CoD and my capability to reliably do full book bot runs on every other map is not nearly enough to win
EVERY player in QP match on this map MUST know tips etc. AND party must have good anti-armor and godlike special sniper. You cant bet you will have all of above in QP match. AND even if you have good setup and every player knows everything that he should know, event still requires perfect execution from everyone in group because one death is pretty much game over, which isnt the case on other maps. This is just wrong. They should make map more forgiving. Either remove progress decay when no one on platform, or stop spawning/reduce spawn rate when no one up there.
Speaking for Legend difficulty.
Lemme come back to this and say that it just is hell. When you have to handle 5 stormvermin, 4 Chaos warriors, 2 globadiers, a blightstormer, a hookrat, a flamerat and an assassin ALL spawning AT THE SAME TIME while staying on the platform and keeping your eyes from bleeding from all the green effects on your screen : this is hell.
The thing is, hell would be manageable. But it isn’t, because there is no respite whatsoever.
Yeah, you can drop. Good luck getting back up while fighting the endless hordes of elites coming down from exactly where you need to go up.
Good luck finding your teammate who dropped on the other side of the platform because we got split from [insert special here].
Good luck finding a special - usually recognizable by the bright green light they emit - in the middle of a green screen.
Good luck getting your teammate up when he inevitably gets downed because anywhere you are in this arena can be defined as surrounded.
Good luck freeing him when he eventually respawns.
Good luck getting back up while fighting the endless hordes of elites coming down from exactly where you need to go up ; and bis repetita.
I would suggest this simple fix : tone down the spawn rate when players are not actively hindering the ritual. Do not stop it completely, but just tone it down, make it manageable, give us time to regroup, handle what’s already there, and get back up onto the platform.
Final event is beyond crazy, if you don’t go dedicated armor damage weapons on everyone. If I go quickplay and I see CoD starting, I simply ALT F4. Skittergate is way easier than this madness.
Yes, this is quite silly.
Moreover Specials already spawn in attack stance. So the Globadier is already throwing, the Blightstormer is already casting, the Assassin is already pouncing, etc.
There’s no sense to have so many armored foes and specials and chaffs altogether.
I’m pretty sure spawning is one thing that actually works here. They have to path to finale area to attack as far as I know. It is however hard to distinguish both visual and audio cues. I tend to hear only some specials spawning during this event, and I have major issues determining the general location they spawn in.
I have no problem with audio cues but they are played when the special is spawned and they spawn very near to the central platform. So you hear “Ratling” and you get invested by a bullet storm because the ratling is already shooting.
That’s strange. I know the ratings tend to sneak up on you on one side (right-hand side from drop), but they almost always need to drop down once or twice on the other side.
