Content Drop - Rejects Unite + Patch #10

Afaik (just like for vermintide 2) we can only see the progress in the launcher.

That makes 0 sense. Why would they not put it on the mission table at the top? Or make a separate place where we can view it?

You can’t expect them to actually change a single thing inside the game, that’s way too much work. Imagine having actual in-game events in a live service game. No, no, there’s an external tracker so they can pretend it’s an actual event, instead of just exposing their normal statistics tracker to the playerbase for a few weeks.

Not the same kind of crafting lol.

It has a massive impact. Otherwise they wouldn’t have more than half the hub dedicated to it and emperors gifts at the end of each mission and people running around looking at crafting materials throughout the entire mission.

Hard disagree.

Since we are comparing with VT2 a lot lets look at that as base. VT2, originally had a 1-2% chance of dropping red weapons/trinkets (Emperor’s vault). After patching The odds increased to 15-20% on an Emperor’s Vault. Once you got a red weapon of any type and those RNG odds were crossed you could customize 100% of the weapon. It was guaranteed to be a 300 power leveled weapon (which is the equivalent in Darktide’s terms of having 100% points in all modifier bars). The green, blue, and orange dust to re roll was sometimes a pain but easily obtainable. By the time you get a red, you have accumulated enough dust to re-roll what you want. All blessings were “max tier” for all intents and purposes comparing to Darktide, they were all “Tier 4”. If you wanted swift slaying, there was only one version of it, you got it. Did you want %5 crit chance and 20% block cost reduction? May be annoying to roll it (but nowhere near as annoying as Darktide since it always rolled “tier 4” perks!) but you easily got what you want. And you could play with that and test it. It carried over to all sub classes that could use it. Trinkets? Carried over to ALL classes and subclasses so unless you had diversity you could have 3 perfect curios ready to go on all 15 classes. Plus more with DLC. And what happened if you want to change your blessing and perks? Easy! You would just use low level dust you would just accumulate over playing the game normally and could change them. Had a hard time getting a red for a weapon type you didn’t have? Just boil down 5 of them and you could make a red out of any trinket/weapon you wanted!

Now, one could argue “that’s not fair reds aren’t in darktide yet, we don’t know what they will be like!”. Possibly. The issue is we have had no official indication that there ever WOULD be reds in darktide or what they would look like. As it stands even if they did exist, if they still had locks the customization to them would still be possible to bricking as nerfs/buffs and patches came out or if the player wanted to try something else.

Even if we want to compare oranges to oranges (heh) VT2 still wins out. Oranges are pretty common to acquire passively playing the game and to upgrade gear to. They have one blessing slot, always max, that you can always change out. They have a chance of being 295-300 which is a MUCH better spread compared to darktides (300-380 with variable modifier bars) and perks that range in values (BUT you can always re-roll both of them! with the possibility of even getting two specific blessings with max rank). There are some oranges I have in VT2 I didn’t even bother getting a red for, because I already had an orange that had the exact values I wanted.

Now what does darktide have? Firstly it is in NO way shape or form “50%” you have control over. You’re being myopic on weapons and forgetting curios, firstly. Secondly you’re assuming you already have perfect base stats. Again, since we’re talking about perfect weapons that means you NEED a 380 weapon and a curio with max blessing. And that is pretty rare. Even rarer still when you ALSO need (in order for it to be perfect) specific modifier bars (80% damage, 80% crit chance, etc.). How can I calculate those odds? I can’t really without Fatshark stating what they are but looking at brunts, melks, and emperors gifts combined 380 weapons are a lot more rare than 15-20%. Curios with max blessings rarer still.

So what components are there to weapons and curios?

Weapons:

1.) Mod score (total)
2.) Mod distribution points
3.) Perk 1
4.) Perk 2
5.) Blessing 1
6.) Blessing 2
7.) Weapon type

7 is actually important because you could find 1-6 on a weapon but not the right weapon family or specific family. Unlike VT2 you can’t just boil down 5 perfect weapons into one you want it also needs to be the exact specific weapon.

But that aside even out of 6, you really only have control over 2. That’s 2/6 or 1/3. Not 50%. Curios? 1/4. 25%.

Curios:

1.) Blessing
2.) Perk 1
3.) Perk 2
4.) Perk 3

Now, and I have said this before, since you have the locks the chances of the stars aligning on the parts you want are so low, they’re practically impossible to pursue in a meaningful way. Unlike VT2.

Especially if we look at a weapon like force sword. 12 blessing types. 4 tiers. That’s 48 possibilities. I only want 2. (You could say that’s the worst case, and it is, axes only have 4 so a total of 16 vs 48, but hey I’m a psyker main and we SHOULD look at the weakest link for weapons, although curios are still worse)

Darktide Weapon Perks - Complete List of all Perks

A list of all available Weapon Perks in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.

For perks on weapons that’s 24 types all with 4 tiers so that’s 96 possibilities. Where you only want 2.

For curious it’s 22 types of perks with 4 tiers so that’s 88 possibilities. Where you only want 2.

Do you see it now? Do you see how many dice are rolling and how bad the chances are? First you have to deal with the awfully low chances of getting a 380 weapon with perfect stat bars, and a curio with perfect blessings. Then you need to get on weapons, a 2/48 and a 2/96. That’s 1/1152 at a ~0.08% chance of happening. And again, unlike VT2 you can’t simply recover it. If it messes up you’re gone back to square one looking for another 380 weapon with perfect mod distribution.

Back to curios, assuming you already found the perfect specific max blessing you want, You have 3 specifics out of 88 in 3 slots. That’s ~0.004% chance of occurring. Again, a far cry from the 15-20% VT2 offers. And again easily brickable with no chance of recovery, no crafting resources on bartering away, can’t be boiled down to give a guaranteed red of a specific type or anything. Have to hunt the shops again with VERY low chances of coming up. Curios are literally 5000 times worse in Darktide, and require more work than in VT2 comparing the odds. I am simplifying some of this in terms of probabilities mainly because we don’t know the real odds to things (for example the auto roller perk calculator people have found rolling a second or third T4 perk on a curio is significantly more rare than getting it the first time, an example of predatory practices. More on that later).

And don’t forget you need 3 curios on 4 classes. So do all that again 15 more times. And assuming you only ever use two weapons per character that’s still 7 more times for weapons. Emperor forbid, should you ever want to change your loadout or experiment with something else you gotta do it again.

If your item has high modifiers, you only roll T3 and T4, so there are only 48 possibilities, which is very great odds. :stuck_out_tongue:
Almost a guaranteed god roll.

Yeah I simplified it. I don’t have the odds of rarity affecting things. Unless Fatshark gives transparency to such things it’s hard to really say. Especially if Tier 3 has higher odds than T4 for example.

I know.
I was just trying to imagine how a person could possibly argue for how good the crafting system is, when presented with what you just said.
The only option is some type of bs response, like what i just said.

Perfect take, good that there are still ppl, who are willing to takle all those dopamine QQ casuals, which create bot accounts and double post their dissatisfaction to appear more numerous. Which dont even get that removing or further reducing RNG would only end with them quitting the game earlier because Tide games arent for them anyways.

Imagine i am at that point where i choose to take blue weapons to mission because i got most meta stuff maxed out or nearly maxed out and because the game is way to easy with 550 weapons and them QQ because the miss 5% damage here or they "need " t4 blessing instead of t3

Thanks man you restored my faith that there are still players left who want the challenge not the dopamine

Another 22’ Andy. They don’t know. They don’t know what it’s like to be a veteran Tide player. Buckle up stranger. You’ll come around soon enough.

Loving the new map.

I got all reds on VT2 at ~800 hour mark. I got almost 3,000 hours in VT2 and still play.

I stopped playing Darktide.

Like I keep saying. For the supporters of the current system; Their narrative always has to paint us as the whiny entitled fans who don’t know anything and demand everything easy. A fallacy as flimsy as they come. What I’m failing to see is why your rhetoric in support of the current iterations of the game can’t stand on their own without adhoms and backhanded comments.

I agree, I have yet to see a sensible argument.

The only semi-valid one I can think of is to force gear diversity among players and for people to be forced to choose different things. But that’s just bad design IMO. Let players choose what they want. Meta’s should be resolved via balancing not forcing people to use gear they don’t want.

Even sensible defenders of the system agree “perfect” items in this system aren’t permissible.

Beast of Nurgle takes more damage to the weakpoint than the other monstrosities, they mentioned that in a recent patch.

Other arguments that are common but fall flat:

  • The game is too easy, you don’t NEED perfect gear!
  • Don’t chase perfect numbers, stop being OCD!
  • People would stop playing the game with perfect gear!
  • You need a carrot that can’t be achieved in order to maintain player retention!

Quite simply, if the hardest difficulty is too easy with max gear… then it needs to be harder. It (damnation) should be balanced around the strongest possible combinations, and the strongest combinations (meta’s) should be balanced to reduce their effectiveness and existence as much as possible so as to make as many choices viable as possible.

I feel it’s funny when people say to stop chasing perfect gear… but getting perfect weapons would remove the chase. It seems they themselves just like to grind and want a forever chase. Maybe it’s because some of them got lucky and don’t have empathy to new/casual players and want everyone to suffer as they did or so their weapon has more value so they can swing it around in people’s faces.

Even then, with how restrictive the grind is, it just forces everyone to limit class and weapon diversity. Just farm the meta for eternity. And hope a patch doesn’t ruin all your work.

VT2. People wouldn’t stop. As well as several other games. DRG, gun fire reborn, left 4 dead, etc.

With a majority of players not wanting these changes, the retention tactic has been proven false.

I agree that there needs to be a goal to chase, at least for a decent amount of time. However I don’t believe this much rng is the way to do it. There are lots of different ways to remove rng from the progression system that doesn’t make it instant. The way the current systen is implemented is frustrating and infuriating for lots of people, including myself.

Honestly at this point I think they have actually fully abandoned the game. They were so butthurt by the harsh reviews when they knowingly released the game 12 months too early with no content and all the bugs ever, that they’re just going to abandon it. That’s why nothing is happening with crafting or locks, and the two last ‘content drops’ were nothing but cosmetics. The only thing they’re doing is crapping out an Xbox port with as many cosmetics as possible so they can harpoon as many whales as possible before everyone realizes the game is dead and completely abandoned.
