The new Map is AWESOME, I’d like to propose that it should be Investigation not Espionage thou, for 2 reasons:
The finale is running around following a servo skull and using the Aspex to find things like in HAB Dreyko/Inv ( All Espoionage maps have us put skulls on terminals and wait.)
Every mission type has at least 2 maps except Investigation and Repair. So it would make more sense to add one each with this patch (the new map plays like an Inv. anyways, see above. )
It is kind of boring farming the mission completion penances since e.g on Strike I need 50 runs on average on 3 maps, for 150 completion while on Repair/Inv. it needs so be 150 on the SAME map.
I think the premium shop changes are OK. (If we have to have one at least it’s not geared that strongly toward FOMO)
That being said please look into crafting, as that is in need of serious improvements.
Are we going to see our inventory linked between characters in the future managing 4 different characters is super difficult and nearly impossible. The range of brunt’s armory should also be reduced 300-380 is to much locks on items should not exist adds to much rng makes it so you can make the build you want to run. I haven’t made a single bleed build zealot because I haven’t had the proper blessings or a good enough combat blade this whole time. Your restricting the player bases ability to play the game the way they want to play it and restricting experimenting with different builds. The game is suffering and if you don’t see this then I have little hopes for the success of this game. May the god emperor save this game from the heresy that has been committed. #breakThelocks
You gotta be f***ing kidding me with these cosmetic prices…
I can’t muster up the patience to deal with this game’s time wasting BS to play for even a couple hours a week. You really expect people to play this game like a job when the rewards are so minimal and we can’t even log on half the time? I’m so sick of this company.
Crafting is fine as is. Won’t stop some people from complaining loudly and creating the perception one of the most unfairly toxic playerbases in a while.
Great job on the patch, looking forward to trying the new maps and checking out the new cosmetics! Keep it up FS, DT is already better than V2. Let’s see some subclasses next or new weapons!
Can you explain to me why you feel like crafting is ok? As a person who has played a decent amount of crafting, I find it extremely infuriating and frustrating. Putting earned resources into constant rolling, and then not getting anything worthwhile feels awful and like you “wasted your time.”
Welp, time to put this game on the shelf. I had zero expectations for this patch but they still manage to surprise me in the most negative way possible. FS obviously doesn’t listen to the player base and I cba anymore. If they ever break the locks and/or revamp the crafting system I might give this title and developer another chance, until then - Eat a d*ck Fatshark.
First of all, this is a 40k coop zombie shooter I want to play with my friends. FS created the perfect 40k feeling, sound and graphics design are stunning. They created a really good mix of ranged and CC, which isn’t easy. Weapons feel awesome. Teamplay aspects were improved from. On my personal list, crafting is a very low priority. If I want crafting, there are crafting-focused games like Valheim. But people not getting into the game because it got mixed ratings on Steam, because of a minor aspect that has little to do with the main gameplay loop, hurts me on a personal level.
Secondly, crafting is much improved from VT2. There you got a power level, 2feats and one blessing. And you spend a lot of resources simply to get to max power level. And because of how things worked, there was hardly a point in chests and upgrading before you got max level. Then you did a lot of clicking to break down trash weapons, to use the dust and scraps to cycle through the weapon feats/blessings to get the combo you liked at good values. Especially feats were a bother, because you could only reroll both feats at once. Grindy as hell. And then you hardly ever touched crafting ever again. By comparison, Darktide has more weapons, AND gives you good powerlevels a lot easier/earlier. Individual weapons now got different stats. And weapons now have 2 feats and 2 blessings. So you got more range to personalise your stuff. Heck, you can even reroll your feats seperatly. It’s also way easier to level. The cost for leveling up is a lot lower than in VT2. Rerolls getting progressively cheaper also helps a lot compared to VT2. So in my eyes, this system gives you a lot more range/options than VT2, and also allows you to get a powerful weapon way easier. (Not that a points difference matter that much. Neither did it in VT2.)
Thirdly, locks are a key mechanic that allows players to get powerful weapons early, without being done with crafting for a character in 2 weeks. So far I haven’t heard a better suggestion on how to achieve that. Pretty much all of the complaints appear to be about getting a perfect weapon faster. Which imho says more about the impulse control of the poster than the game design of Darktide. Heck, it’s not even a big issue. All you have to do is to wait for weapon with a feat and blessing you like before you add the second feat and blessing. It’s not a big hurdle, not even by other crafting systems. And even if you like to take your risks with the RNG, you still end up with a good powered weapon, 4 feats+blessings, and 2 of these of your choice. So the results will be perfectly playable and not impact the main gameplay loop negatively. Honestly, I think crafting was always a minor aspect of the tide games. Or did you stop playing VT2 after you got your perfect weapon?
So yes, personally, I think it’s people with instant gratification issues creating a toxic atmosphere about a minor issue that these players even get wrong.
Do you want to know what’s toxic? People (you in this instance) diminishing and belittling other peoples’ completely valid criticisms and feedback for a product that they paid for and that they would like to be able to enjoy more. Your behavior is what is toxic and piles further angst onto people already frustrated by the situation. Kindly get some perspective.
Yes. The hundreds of people who have voiced their opinion and stated that they despise the lock systen, must be wrong.
All the pages of reasonable arguments that were made, are just noise.
All the people leaving negative steam reviews are wrong.
And all the content creators who made videos, explaining why the crafting system is bad, they are also wrong.
But you are clearly right and there is not a problem at all. It is completely fine for sure.

You are the one guy who drives on the wrong side of the road and thinks to himself “Damn all of those other drivers are morons. And who are they honking at?”.
Then you have not been listening.
Feel free to explain to me, why this is not better in every single way, than what we have right now.
I feel like there should be a progress bar on the mission table to see how close the community is to unlocking the next part of the event. Is there a visual that I’m missing? It makes no sense to not show all of our progress to unlock the mission.
