Confusion about the Arbites Deluxe Edition items

On the steam page this image is displayed showing the same armor twice. Was there meant to be another set here? Is there some minor difference I’m not seeing?

Nah, it’s supposed to be a male character to the left and a female character to the right to showcase how the set looks on both genders.

Unfortunately like the majority of Darktide cosmetics, the rigging for both genders are the same so you cannot really tell the difference.

The rigging isn’t the exactly the same. All chest cosmetics are fitted slightly different for each gender.

It’s subtle, but it’s there. Easiest to see by using a mod that can cycle between gender placeholders in the inventory screen.

But yea, it’s one outfit shown for both genders.

Gah, a missed opportunity to create this classic female Arbites skin:

There is still time for FS to learn from their ways, and release more skins…(desperate hope)

…nothing in the deluxe looks worth it to me though

They seem pretty determined to not do any boob armor. Can’t say I blame them, it is not a good design, effectiveness-wise.

It’s pretty much the same my friend. Body type A, Body Type B. A “safe”, yet bland approach to character design.

Yea they’re pretty much the same, but they’re not identical. I don’t care about this A/B nonsense (which isn’t even present in DT). The reason they’re the same model, adjusted slightly for each gender, is because it’s easier/cheaper.

You’re right, the torso is .05mm thicker on Body Type A. Don’t get me wrong, the armor itself looks good but there is really no difference between Body A/B. It is what it is. :man_shrugging:

Maybe it’s supposed to be male/female variants? If so I literally cannot tell lol

the one on the right is slightly scaled down and has a less prominent jaw, so it’s probably a female character.
great way to tell as they still use the same model :winking_face_with_tongue:
i can understand that having just one model halves the work for texturing, clipping etc, but it still looks cheap.

now as for “premium edition”: so the basic class costs 12 € / $ and the “premium” version is with these added skins, for more money i guess?

ah , i see: Comparison between DLC class prices of VT2 and DT

Nothing in 40k is particularly realistic or effective combatwise, including terminator armor. Or massing large numbers of troops into walls of meat on the front lines. In a real war they would just get destroyed before they even saw the enemy.

But 40k often has a particular aesthetic that is part of so much official artwork (gothic and steampunk architecture, ww1-looking vehicles and krieg trooper gear etc ), so I just don’t care that it’s not realistic or effective. It’s sci-fi fantasy in a particular setting, so a deliberate move away from that by developers is disappointing. And weird. They must surely know that a lot of 40k fans want that aesthetic?

I congratulate them on the non boob armor choice(s)

tbh the boob armor aesthetic has been done into the ground a mile under. It’s nice to see something a bit different and, well, grounded.

But it’s not a choice, I would fully support there being a choice if you absolutely detest it.

would be kinda funny if choosing boob armor gave you -15% toughness

The thing that bugs me about female attire in DT is that they don’t seem to adjust the shoulder span for females and it looks like they’re wearing a torso piece that’s way too big for them.

That or they have 80s shoulder pads.

In reality it would be a 50% crit strike chance on self at all times

Hehehe. And if tanks were made obsolete by RPG-carrying servo skull drones. They should add anti-tank drones to world of tanks.
