When all the essence is gathered in the end arena, while the timer has run out (0:00), the weave is lost (screen abruptly switches to “DEFEATED” screen).
Steps to Reproduce (Required):
Before reaching the portal to the end arena, run out of time;
Yep, experienced this too, Weave 50 on Xbox, we killed the final troll/collected essence about 5 seconds or so after the time ran out, resulted in a defeat. Nice to have bots though!
A post on the steam forum says this is intentional. Had I know this ahead of time I would not have spent several days hitting my head into a brick wall trying to beat a weave nor ever again even touched this fRICKking game mode. It has been so poorly received since the day it launched and the one time they touch it up they don’t actually make it any better to play. The patch notes even acknowledge that this was a barrier for players and made them not engage with the mode. Giving me a defeat screen doesnt fRICKking change that. Giving me a few lobotomized bots to “help” doesn’t change that either. What is it with this fRICKing company
It’s not intentional, they intended to change it so that you can complete it even after timer runs out, but you can’t end up on the leader-boards. It’s a bug which they either have fixed or will fix.
Seriously?! I really hope that you’re wrong about this being a feature and not a bug.
When the devpost read: “Running out of time still disqualifies your team from scoring for the leaderboards, but at least you can still complete the match!”, it really sounds like you can progress through weaves, the only downside being that you’re not placed in the leaderboard (which is fine, who cares about leaderboards anyway).
I too am stuck on a weave which is pretty much impossible solo, weave 60. Bots barely help, since they die in 5 seconds or less, only good as meat shields. All I want is just to progress through weaves at my own pace and not treat it like a speedrun.
Check the status of this bug report, Fatshark has marked it as “acknowledged” which means it is a bug which will be fixed. Things that are not bugs are marked as “not-a-bug”.
It also clearly stated such in the update post they made.
Please excuse the status here as I added it when I first raised this internally. Then later was told this was intended and it slipped my mind to update it.
Discussions are ongoing about this and we apppreciate everyone’s feedback
From what I’ve gathered over the years from players in game is most just wanna play the maps with unique aspects and aesthetics and don’t give a troll’s nose hair about the leaderboard. The timer puts them off completely.
I’ve completed all challenges since season two (didn’t buy the game earlier). In my opinion, the ideal combination (apart from a complete rework) would be the following: completing the map both within or after the time limit allows the player to progress to the next weave and gives the corresponding Okri’s challenges.
But the leaderboard only recognises a win within the time limit.
This would open the game mode up a little but leaves the competitive part untouched.
yeah that’s completely reasonable and exactly what I thought the damn patch notes meant. That would’ve actually lowered the bar for entry and wouldn’t have ruined the leaderboard part of it for the people that care about it. I’m just guessing but I’m gonna say it’s a small community that cares about them, but there’s no reason to go out of your way to ruin it for them especially when the solution as you presented it pleases everyone interested in doing the Weaves to begin with.
Since you mentioned a complete rework, what would you have in mind? With quickplay and a potential non-timer and timer bound way to play, what is there left to be desired?
Very weird decision if it was intended, I thought the idea was to get people to play more weaves, and make it possible for people to progress? Nobody is gonna finish a level if they know it will result in a defeat. I think I speak for everyone when I say that “intended” change makes no sense whatsoever, and nobody appreciates it.
