Community Comm-Link 27th July 2023

Next week without saying next week. An announcement for an announcement.

Welcome back though.

I almost agree, but this time they’ve actually given a hard date on when they’re going to share info, so that’s something.

They went on vacation shortly thereafter. So, literally next to no work has been done since then. But now they’ve confirmed they will be doing something about it by august. It remains to be seen what, precisely, but that is a lot more concrete.

@FatsharkCatfish
Any word on buffs for chain weapons? My thread on the subject has like 250 posts, thats a lot 'round these parts. Me and others have done a good deal of work drafting good quality feedback and testing evidence.

The last comm-link stated we were reviewing these top issues.
In this comm-link we say the internal discussions have come to an end for now, and give a date on when you can expect to read exactly what changes coming, and when you can expect the patch.

honestly I’m not so optimistic about the perk locks. if they wanted to remove it entirely, they could’ve done a thousand times before. I think FS will come up with a more insulting twist, like lock stays as default, and unlocking the locked perk would cost an insane amount of materials ooooooor premium currency. so yeah they give the option to remove it, but you have to play and grind 10x more and still will be RNG factor. or something like this. I don’t trust them anymore, sorry.

I doubt the locks are leaving, but I will be really happy if they do. They’re the main reason I quit playing

the use of "“adjustment” to crafting lock probably mean that they aren’t going out. They will probably give a way to unlock them or limite lock to some perk/weapons (like no lock on level 1-2 perk)

I know the combat team have seen the feedback but any changes won’t be in the next patch, but i’ll let you know when you can expect to see something once I am able to.

To be fair, this guy’s frustration is understandable. This is an announcement of an announcement at a time when, as indicated earlier in this thread, we’re all eagerly awaiting news over something that should have been addressed weeks after these incredibly unpopular changes happened.

We did just get nextweeked. None of this is your fault, but this guy’s concern and lack of trust is fair considering how much worth “next week” hasn’t really had in the past.

“in-depth look at our plans for account based currencies, perk refinements, adjustments to crafting locks and options on the mission board”

Fingers crossed for shared currency and inventory (at the very least the grutting curios), as well as getting rid of locks and an actual mission board like in vermintide 2.

Steam Player Numbers continue to decline, refusing to address the core Issues of Darktide (just mentioning it time and time again in comm-links without any actual changes doesn’t count) , alongside games like Diablo 4 and Remnant 2 releasing in the meantime, i don’t see that changing anytime soon.

I highly doubt this will happen, though. Don’t know how much more of a wake up call they need, honestly.

That is assuming that fatshark gives a damn about the game besides the initial sales and the cosmetics they sell, of course.

Awesome, thanks Catfish!

Looking forward to seeing the devblog. And eagerly awaiting patch 12!

Hallelujah, please for the love of all that is holy remove those god-awful crafting locks. The game is finally saved.

I totally understand the frustration with the current system especially as I have been following and collecting the feedback for quite a few months now. By all means be frustrated at things that warrant it (like the time taken to get here)!

I get the upset with the announcement as well. As we are coming back off a break, there isn’t much I am able to communicate for now. I thought it best to give an update on what I could rather than delay the comm-link or wait until next week for the dev blog.

and hey, at least a date is slightly better than next week !

Yes please to more dev blogs. I, for one, would definitely be interested in seeing/reading about what the team’s currently working on or deep dives into existing systems (from a technical and/or design perspective), whether that be gameplay or game engine related. What went into designing the feature, what were you trying to solve, what challenges did you encounter etc

Thanks!

Well “next week” is back and “beatings will continue until morale improves!”

Yeah after a month of finally putting sore points in blog posts ‘next week’ isn’t even worth a topic at this point. But I’m glad some posters found a good hit of copium to keep going.

What they really should have done after that time is ‘something’. Because apparently its 100% impossible to just alter rewards earned until then. No, we must wait for the shamans to read the bones first.

I really do hope it won’t be yet a other disappointment. I guess we will see “next week” whats in store.

Spank my bottom blue and call me Rafiki, seems our cries and pleads will finally be addressed.

Oof if true.

In all seriousness though, If some of the future work will require entire reworks of game systems, the timeline delays are probably warranted. Especially if they’re still running with a skeleton crew (console release work). Plus there’s always the possibility they’ll hit a snag there and drag even more man power from the DT PC crew, hence messing up release timelines even more. At least they’re being honest about it if this is what they end up announcing.
