@Riku is correct - they never announced a story mode.
The lore snippets we get from conversations and briefings are actually quite cool - but I’m with you:
When I realised after hitting lvl 30 that this traitor short story is all we get after being teased with Abnett I was (and still am) very disappointed.

God, why are “muh skill” sweats so hellbent on ruining coop PVE games instead of testing “muh skill” in competitive PVP games where muh skills and muh balance whine actually warrant the constant screeching?

My #1 theory about this is Dan Abnett wrote the background lore about Atoma/the Moebian regiment, nothing else, and FS is being misleading about his involvement. The actual beat for beat story of your character advancing in the Inquisition is so clearly a rush job that got handed off to an intern or something. The guy could write a better story on a napkin during a lunch meeting, doesn’t make sense that the background stuff would be on par with his normal writing and the front facing story would be so nonexistent.

From what I’ve heard:

  • Abnett wrote the setting/backstory/deepest lore
  • Matt Ward wrote the story and main cast
  • Assorted others wrote banter lines

Thanks for saying it. And furthermore the XII lasgun hits the same damage on every game i have scoreboards for.

I do agree, that having a story and having a story mode are 2 very different things and while 2nd was not announced the first one is still missing.

Let’s be honest, even Payday 2 (on release), that had no story writing announced, compared to Darktide had more story in it; for example 1 heist = 3 missions

And while story mode was not announced and I accept that (making a mental note to stop mentioning it), I would like to hear at least something from Fatshark about, for example Flash missions - where are they, if they have penances; what is the progress on development - or the subclasses.

Don’t tell me that the whole team spend 6 months on programming Chaos Spawn, making 10 new weapons and those cosmetics? Like how many devs their Darktide team has? 2?

Even something like Helldiver’s galactic war progress meta-status would do a lot to make the whole war for Tertium more cohesive and feel like there is narrative progression happening.

@FatsharkCatfish I find it a little strange that the developers “aren’t ready to share” what they have in mind for things like crafting and the mission board.

Wouldn’t it be a good idea to just consult the actual players for our feedback on any changes being discussed or worked on?

After so many months of getting the answer “we’re discussing it internally”, it feels a little disrespectful to not even give us some idea of your intended approach to solving “pain points”.

I’d prefer a more honest and open channel of communication regarding requested changes. The idea that these changes are being saved for an exciting announcement, when we are paying customers asking for solutions to problems, feels a little ridiculous.

Maybe lets try and work on External Communication? Honest, open dialogue between long time players and Fatshark, to make sure any changes are the right ones.

They cannot be more honest and open, since they already are. They have no vision for this product and don’t know where to take it, thus we are left with “Cannot share more” or “We’re discussing it internally”

If after hundreds of pages of community crafting feedback you come back after 5months with “We’re discussing it internally”, as someone who spent almost half of their life in corporate, I can tell you that have nothing. Zilch, nothing, nada.

1 product owner, 1 project manager and 1 dev, should be able to produce a clear vision of the crafting system in a month, based on already collected feedback. Vision that they can share with community, collect feedback to it and spend next 4 months working on it.

Cause they did not decide what they will do, and they surely don’t want complains before…

Yes… sure, I would also.
But when they communicate, there are people that will complain. So, I guess they prefer waiting to announce something. They will get complains, but they will avoid the ones before they implement whatever they decided.
The problem is the community tbh.

Tbh, I love what Fatshark has given us. If they fix the problem for casual players, aka too much time to craft something good, well it will be surely a great game.
Sad part is that Fatshark missed the launch of the game. It doesn’t mean that it can’t improve.

I like what I’ve read. I would love more details… what blessing do they plan to adjust?
If it is the stronger blessings, ok… but do not forget all that don’t work ( Shock and Awe by example, or Devastating Strike that is garbage and does the same effect at all tiers).
About the xbox, i wish they launch it… as I suspect that it is the reason why we can’t see a new subclass.
About crossplay, as I started on GP, I can say it was absolutely needed.

That + the way they worded the post makes it seem like they already know they will disappoint us with what they’ve got.

I’ve been playing for forty or fifty hours, and I feel that the biggest problem is that there is too little content, maybe Star Warrior 2 will be released in a few months, if that game is more fun than Dark Tide or fewer people online, Dark Tide has been released for a year or two, but there is not much content, and the optimization is much worse than Destiny 2, Star Warframe, Road to Survival, Red Dead Redemption 2, my computer plays those without cards and plays Dark Tide but needs to open AMD The picture is blurry, Dark Tide is a good game but FS is too slow, There are also many problems in the game, such as there are too many long-range enemies at level 5, and when I play a fanatic, the shield is broken by about four shots, how can I play happily? Control dogs and power grids are controlled to death every time, I think the game is not for players to repeatedly brush a thing and experience happiness, but to let players feel that the game is fun when playing this game, I hope FS can quickly improve the content, to be honest Dark Tide is still much worse than Plague 2, although I prefer the picture of Dark Tide but I have to say that Plague 2 can make me want to play and keep playing

having said that, I really enjoy low intensity damnation and crafting locks are fun

I wanna say they leave low int up for farming. Can’t recall clicking it otherwise, besides the 250 missions of X type.

110% this.

Stop fuccking around, FS. You have just begun to find out… let’s not go down this path.

first timer here too the warhammer series. but here the thing with some of these nonsense comments from some of these people i’ve read from…so what if it’s like WOT(World of Tanks) or WOS(World of Warships), etc. so what if they have a pay to earn system…all games have this kind of s*** now and its s****y at best i know. but bitching about it isn’t gonna make the issue go away. just sit there and deal with it. goddamn…some of you guys need a lesson on how game devs always do this for those whom wanna waste their funds like mad…for me i don’t give a flying hell if they have a pay system. let em have it on here. i don’t care. i’ll farm my way too acheive what i wanna get for my character without spending money or funds on this system of theirs. ill do what i always have done. which is farm my way to get the things i need or constant replay of the same level till i get what i need done or get what i need too upgrade my character manually. just stop complaining about it. seriously, i dont like anymore than you guys do. but it wont get anywhere if you all still complain about it…

Sticking your head in the sand will do even less.

Whether you interact with it or not, bad or predatory design can fundamentally affect everything in a game since it’s all centred around those designs. It’ll still be affecting you even when you’re not directly paying for any of those microtransactions. And just because you don’t care doesn’t mean other people can’t either.

as @zaygr said doing nothing never ever helped

while community outcry needs to be a of significant size to change something it did changed stuff in the past, and as you already mentioned wot, remember that time where they wanted to push out crew 2.0 got severe backlash, went back to the draw board, present a different version of crew 2.0 and got the same backlash, they are one of the most predatory dev out there yet even they know when they can’t push it too far…

being the enemie of your community is bad business that’s the truth
