Collecting Diamantine and Plasteel-an issue

I have waited until this new patch to put this complaint because I’ve wanted to see how the new patch added to the crafting system.

However, it doesnt seem to have resolved anything. We have two resources… Plasteel and Diamantine. However, since everything takes both, there is really only one resource. Diamantine. Since it’s the rare one, I’ve got tons of plasteel saved up, but Im always short of diamantine.

I would strongly suggest making certain crafting take only plasteel and certain ones take only Diamantine. This would make the crafting system resources feel more unique, let you farm certain ones if you want, etc. As of now, plasteel just seems like a pointless resource I have to gather.

I actually managed to run out of plasteel somehow.

Upgrading from white to green takes only plasteel.
Maybe green to blue also should.

Maybe do the Vermintide system of getting resources from dismantling items or straight up buying materials with dockets. Makes use of dockets since there isn’t much use at max level/already having good weapons. DRG let’s you trade cred for resources and vice versa and that’s a pretty good system.

There is actually a different issue, where if you play only Damnation, you get the same amount of Plasteel as Diamantine, which means you run out of Plasteel a lot faster. Both of these issues would be solved if Fatshark just let us convert between these two crafting materials.

Though, to be frank, I don’t understand why we need more than one type of crafting material in the first place. Just seems like unneeded complexity which introduces problems like these.

I have a harder time finding Plasteel for sure. The amount of crafting materials needed compared to the lack of materials recovered from missions is also pretty bad considering how many weapons we have to upgrade in hopes of finding an actually good weapon (or better than what we’re currently using.)

Since I play mostly the higher difficulties I have the opposite problem. If we could just convert the two mats it would be nice

its another sign of half implemented systems . clearly as you progress through difficulties they figured you would see higher rarites dropping so need more diamantine as you did so. but of course teh system and thats stretching the meaning of that word we do have just randomly drips randomly.

so if you play below malice your diamantine starved and plasteel starved if you run heresy+

this current “system” needs us to get more of both , which is frankly a pretty clear sign one of them is utterly redundant

Crafting resources should differ between difficulties because that’s a surefire way to force more skilled players to play with low-skilled ones… and forces low-skilled ones to potentially ruin higher difficulty games because they have no choice in order to get the required resource.

It’s an awful system.

Completely agree. This is the type of comments we (experienced damnation players) get when running malice with 2 randoms

Let me think twice… you went for that mission to get books/grims whatever Melk wanted… Yes?
Then dont put others in the same bag they maybe wanted to explore the map or play they way or look for more resources[imo not so much worth to look to much as those drops are low income ones & really better is to end mission] still “You an experienced damnation player”… ohhh I see… where the f… you are when I try to grab a team for a damnation mission & why like 50% of time you start & w8 then in mission to someone to join & then after 5 minutes wasted [ohh not gonna solo in this game as bots are terrible & even dont have a EQ scaling with difficulty level] … damnation player… yes… why I cant find a QP game on damnation with players like 50% of time… private lobbies now make it even harder.

& you know you joined his game why not kick him as per say you could have get majority from his game that he started… would be fun to see more topics at forum about people being kicked from started by them game when a trio joined & kicked him at end xD Can’t w8!

Because the matchmaking is not working properly. It’s not just you, everybody has a problem with that.

Even normal map starting is usually empty slots + me … like fev min w8ing & quit as bots even dont have decent equipment…

… imo it[eq for bot’s] should scale with the difficulty [like here we cant set presets for our bot’s like in V2 where it helped a lot before someone joined the game in their place]. Like damn give them some decent weapons but even then probably making them alive thro fight with even 1-2 crushers + some other trash would be almost imposible as it is now :stuck_out_tongue: like 90% of time if i see crushers on lev 4-5 then i know bots are dead if i dont play Sharpshooter & I started to play him less as I want to level up other 2 classes [ogryn long ago 30 lev but i want to level Zealot & psyker to…].

Plasteel is the first thing I run out of on all characters, as well.

I remember having the same problem in V2 with blue and green rocks.

we need that something is done about plasteel / diamantine. It was perfectly fine until I play on heresy. And now, with damnation it is worst.
I have 1310 diamantine and 410 plasteel…
And I think the gap will just increase…

I kind of want T4/5 to get a new pickup in the form of Resource Crates.
Have a couple tiers to them, like Small, Large and Corrupted.
The regular material we grab can be rationalized as us stuffing it into a pocket or backpack etc.

But make the Resource Crate into a pickup like Grims and Scrips. If found, Team has to make a decision on who carries it to the finish line and protect whoever has it.

Small could be a chunk of Plasteel or Diamantine (you get whichever you have less of).

Large would give you a decent pile of either material, chosen as your discretion.

Corrupted would behave like a Grimoire, corrupting your team over time. The payoff would be a massive quantity of both materials. Could even make it a sliding scale.
Example: 5k total material split evenly between Plasteel and Diamantine with a slider to balance it in whichever direction you want (1k Diamantine + 4k Plasteel for example)
If you dont need the crafting materials, you could instead select a “gift” which could be a random Curio or weapon (your choice as to which).

Make the Small/Large one appear in yellow boxes and have Hadron announce that the map has some “Resources that would be beneficial to acquire” when you start the mission so you know it exists, you just have to find it (Saving you from fruitlessly searching maps the crates havent spawned on if she doesnt alert you to its presence) with a UI indicator under the Scrip/Grim counter to indicate whether or not you have it.

The corrupted one however … I would have those drop exclusively from Deamonhosts.
I know a lot of people cry that they are hazards meant to be ignored, Sorry, “avoided” but we’re in the bloody Inquisition!
We should be cleansing them on principle alone!
But this at least gives the squad a decision to make. Engage for loot or steer clear for safety.

I agree there need to be better ways to get materials, but not the daemonhost bit. Making daemonhosts drop rewards would screw over a lot of teams full of randoms. It already happens sometimes when one person goes off and attacks a host at first sight then is surprised when they’re on their own because the rest of the team is busy elsewhere or not geared to be able to kill a host rapidly.

Worst that happens is they tgo down and the team picks them up later. It’ll be fine.
Its pretty stupid to have an enemy whose sole reason to exist is … So that players take a 3 second detour.

Take your situation but reverse the result. Someone triggers it and the team gets the kill.
Now theyre full of coprruption and what did they get? Nothing. At least this way, when a team survives the encounter, they at least get rewarded for the fight.

Nah, it’s annoying.

Nah, it’s fine.

Yep, so avoid.

Yeah gotta agree with lovetruffle here. DH is clearly designed to incentivise you to avoid it. I’m very fine with that. No reason other bosses which are forced encounters couldn’t give some resources though. If only there were a similar system FS could draw inspiration from cough bosses dropping loot die in VT2 cough

On another note I don’t really like how the current design encourages full looting levels. Doesn’t cost you much extra time if the team is on board with it but if I’m out here farming heresy for crafting mats I don’t really wanna be speedrunning the level. I’ll get like 80 plasteel that way instead of like 200, and it don’t take twice as long to check a few corners and side rooms on the way (again IF whole team is down to be reasonably thorough). If your team is split on whether or not to loot it often just ends up separating the team and causing misery. A significant amount of the crafting mats you get from a level should just be rewarded for completing the level (scaling to difficulty naturally) so the pickups feel like more of a bonus rather than something you’re encouraged to go out of your way for.
