Can we please get the vituperativeness of the Loner Psykers towards all things Imperial toned down, or at least have the retaliatory dialogue from other PCs/mission control dialed up? A lot of the sh*t the Loners say doesn’t even make sense (fearing being drained by the Golden Throne if they were to visit Terra), would only make sense if they were connected to some kind of heretical cult (implying that they know about the “Imperial Truth,” which has been defunct for about ten millennia) or should logically fetch them a lasgun stock to the back of the head/see them dragged off for examination by Zola/Rannick/Sefoni/et al for signs of heretical corruption (calling the Guard “broken,” referring to the Emperor as “the Carrion Lord of the Imperium,” etc).
I agree with this a lot, a lot of what they say is fighting words. You can argue that they can say this type of stuff because they’re penal troops and that’s basically an execution anyway (even though that doesn’t quite fit with the auric story progression anymore).
But as you said, the egregrious part to me is, why does nobody react? You have extremely loyalist zealots, ogryns, literal former enforcer psykers, veterans who will say prayers but they don’t really care if someone goes
trappers dead… just like the emperor!
or calls him a carrion lord? Come on now.
It feels like the lines were written in a vacuum for cheap shock value/laughs but nobody actually thought about how unimmersive it would be.
Exactly.
we’re all still scheduled to die after grendyl is done with us, barring him stepping in after the campaign. hadron points this out in the cut scenes (she wants us all dead). the psyker is simply aware he won’t get blamm’d until then and is assuming no chance of him getting a golden ticket, so he’s being pretty spicy to cope.
Makes you question if we’re really the bad guys.
Stealing supplies, using drugs, killing heretics as a cover.
Like people creating donation drives but they secretly take a cut of the proceeds or use it as a write off.
Why does nobody respond to it though? There’s like one line that has an actual “shut up before you get killed” response but the vast majority of spicy heretical psyker voicelines have 0 reactions.
Quite frankly, I prefer it this way. I think the game is a lot more interesting with all of this *BLAM*mable dialogue even if it isn’t entirely “lore-friendly” for the rejects to be talking like this.
There is definitely more than one hostile line about this. I can think of 4 from the top off my hat.
The problem with ingame dialogue is that it doesn’t get properly triggered, if one of the persons moves out of dialogue distance while it happens.
Basically, when a dialogue gets started, it flags two characters and those have their dialogue. It then checks what class they are, what gender, etc. and then plays the lines one after another. But it also checks for distance and if the leash distance is broken. So the longer dialogues that have 4-6 back and forth arguments usually end before they can properly play.
One thing to consider is, yes in the “official lore” saying stuff or knowing stuff leads to a bullet in the back of the head or worse. But the “reality” of that would wouldnt be as strict as the ruleset we are shown makes it seem.
Plenty of countries in the world where speaking against the head of state or some other figurehead means trouble or worse. But people get away with it in a local setting all the time. Then, sometimes, they grab someone out of the crowd and make an example of them.
What we are told isnt always the truth and often propoganda or hearsay.
Ah that’s messed up. I hope they revise how dialogue works at some point.
On that topic there is a lot of dialogue that is apparently locked to lower level characters. When you hit 30, all that dialogue is gone forever. I would enjoy if I still got to hear those dialogues sometimes. They’re not all “I’m a total reject scrub!” stuff, some of them are just philosophical debates between characters, or the Ogryn vs Zealot feud which is basically almost gone by the time the characters hit 30. It’s INTENSE at level 1-10, Ogryns do NOT like shouties early on and tell them in various ways to go die or they’ll kill them themselves.
