The reason why everybody camps there is because of how many bullets there are in a vastly open area.
There’s nothing fun being mowed down by 6 machineguns while you’re trying to kill 3 maniacs and are being attacked by a whole lot of trash.

They already do that if you let them, assuming the team holds way up at the mouth of the choke (which they often do for some reason). People don’t seem to notice them because there seems to be only 2 or 3 anchor spots up there where ranged enemies can set up.
I agree with the idea that there needs to be a reason to move though. A boss, a wave of ogryns, real spawn doors/vents/whatever, anything to give people a reason to not rely purely on the idea that they’ll be able to kill whatever’s coming at them before they get pushed back down the corridor to the dead end.
As it stands, the only way to fail this event is when people get bored and push too far out on their own, and even then it’s totally winnable as a 3-man. Even a 2-man, if they’re the right people.
I don’t hate the idea of SURVIVE events, I just don’t think they’re delivered very well when there’s nothing else going on. Like, the scanner events in Dreyko (or any of the other arena events, really) are SURVIVE events, they just give you reasons to move around instead of holding up behind the smallest choke in the area and using it as a blender.
Nah, it’s just boring event.
There is cover and you can engage them in melee, or kill them with range weapons. Its just excuses for not wanting to learn to play the game properly. Ppl are just trash at it because theyre carried by their op builds. If it actually matters that you understand and use all game mechanics they just die. Thats why they need to abuse ai/spawns and cheese envents.
Im talking about 10 gunners on each side. Not 3-4 shooters hiding in fear behind the handrail and then jumping in like lemmings to die.
The way this event should play out is that youre being chased around the map from cover to cover, section to section. Move closer to ranged that are dug in to surpress them in melee and close a gate on the way. Rinse repeat. Camping spawns or setting up any other kind of meatgrinder somewhere should not be part of the game ever.
Same…its annoying. I got kicked the other day because i didnt want to cheese the ending of the carnival with the hallway method. Wouldn’t be that much of an issue if i could just play solo with bots but…we cant do that can we…
Ive honestly started just leaving the mission if that one comes up 90% of the time, which is a shame cuz its a really really fun mission.
The thing is, those maps are designed in a way to give you defencive spots, but not literally just tunnel all enemies in a single chokepoint which turns into a braindead meatgrinder.
I don’t agree. The favored camping spots on enclavum baross and consignment yard are basically just as safe camping the carnival entrance, and simply defending the center of the platform on ascension riser isn’t much worse.
They’re all plain and arguably boring finales. The only difference is that the matchmaker is FLOODED with carnival right now so we have to see it again and again and again.
Honestly, you don’t even need to block the back entrance, if there were some cover where the entryway ends and where the arena starts and if the enemy AI didn’t try to put gunners up in the audience row while people were standing in the entryway, then they could move to the new placed cover and have a straight line of fire at the team.
I use smoke grenades, so that ranged enemies cannot shoot directly at my team, that also makes the enemy get closer to my team and that is another advantage to kill them faster.
“This chokepoint is unfair, use this other, fairer chokepoint!”
How about no?
No, and no.
There is no cover in a circular arena where gunners can be 360 degrees around you.
There is no engaging in melee when the gunners are mostly 20 meters away and on a different level of the map.
Can I do it? Yes.
Is it more fun than staying at the entrance? No.
it just need enemies spawning behind you as well
not gonna lie tho, as a zealot in a tier 5 mission, i still run back and fourth closing the gates, while my team hides behind a psykter bubble at the entrance. zealots simply don’t care about hoards of enemies
I think the entry camping is boring but needed to actually get through this map with most PUGs. There are too many BS angles shooters can take on you where you can’t effectively return fire.
Exactly. There has to be a better way than the current meta. Sadly, now that the entry chokepoint is the meta, it will take a major change to the arena like locking the entryway off with a gate etc. for the meta to change.
