Can't start: Problems connecting to backend

Issue Description:
Downloaded and installed the game today through steam. After opening the launcher right off the bat the play button is greyed out, when I hover over it it says “Can’t start: Problems connecting to backend”. I managed to get into the game and even play through the tutorial, as the button would become active after waiting 5-10 minutes. The other part of the problem is, even if I manage to play the game i get booted out with various server error codes which force me to shutdown the game. I switched to google dns to see if it makes any difference, it didn’t.

Below are crash reports from the few times i managed to get into the game, play a bit before getting inevitably booted out.

After a day spent troubleshooting and testing i discovered I’m able to connect through a VPN but not without it. This is only happens with vermintide 2.

Enabling UPNP in my router seems to have fixed the issue. It’s odd i couldn’t find any threads with similar problems and nothing mentioning UPNP and vermintide 2. Enabling UPNP is a potential security hazard, so just a heads up to anyone finding this thread in the future.

@backendConnectionErr, glad you were able to resolve this!
