I’ve been playing more Vermintide 2 lately since Darktide burns me out fast, but the new event, the Arbites class, and news of another class got me excited again. I’ve never bought Darktide skins since the initial shop controversy, but I own every Vermintide 2 cosmetic and DLC. On top of that, money’s been tighter since I moved these past couple years.
With $430 in my Steam wallet from selling CS2 skins, I planned a $300 Darktide shopping spree. But the skins I wanted weren’t in the shop. After all this time, Fatshark’s still using rotating FOMO tactics and a premium currency that hides real prices! At least they changed the Aquila bundles to comply with EU laws.
It’s disappointing and honestly insulting. I never cared much about cosmetics before, but having the money, desire, and chance to finally buy what I want, only to be locked out now, is way more upsetting than if they’d just shut the shop down completely. Since I’d never bought anything before, I didn’t even realize it was rotating. I got pulled back in for a bit, and now I’m back out. Instead of their disgusting mobile-game-style cash shop, I’m taking that $430, going through my Steam wishlist and buying DLC and games from developers who actually respect their players. I don’t even know if I want to come back to Darktide now.
