Can we have a spear or halberd like weapon?

And please no more variations, I realy don’t like that kind of way for adding “new” weapons.

Just my opinion

spears are not used by most imperial forces, so we’re not gonna get them. i would expect more variants for a while, since honestly the melee pool for most of our choices is a pretty thin selection. ogryns are already using number of weapons they strictly speak aren’t known for using hand to hand.

zealots might get maces though. they’re known to use clubs fairly often.

Maybe they can allow the use of explosive lances when not mounted. Or even better, allow mounts, haha.

Are you sure about that?

On that subject why don’t Zealots have access to shields?

He did say most…

Though the only ones I can think of are the grey knights glaives and the Krieg lancers… who did you post?

And yes, everyone has access to shields. In theory. Someone had an epic post about which shield for who would be right.

to be very honest, I would love to see some of the Necromunda weapons added, Like Flechette pistols, the various weird weapons of the houses that probably only someone in the Inquisition could get without being part of the gangs. Maybe even a Ganger Class, but I digress, Necromunda has alot of fun little weapon things, if not for outright new weapons then for variations.

I’m still waiting for my Zealot to get a Power Sword & Storm Shield combo.

Easy to adapt here as a spear.
Action 1: Melee attacks, can be held for heavy attacks
Action 2: Block, Action 1 to push/push attack
Action 3/Special: Activate the special charge (Dependent on the variant

Krieg Mk2 Hunting Lance (Heaviest variant, special are Krak charges, same attack pattern as Kruber’s Tuskgor Spear)

Attilan Mk3 Hunting Lance (Medium variant, special are Inferno charges, mix attacks pattern from Kruber’s Tuskgor Spear and Kerillian’s Spear)

Attilan Mk5 Hunting Lance (Light variant, special are Shock charges, same attack pattern as Kerillian’s Spear)

Atm they aren’t really adding new weapons, only variants.

i think we should lower out expectations and wishes for this game.

Darktide should be a very basic, lore-accurate, depiction of everyday man in the Imperium. We should have basic stuff and not much of exotic weaponry. I feel like we already have too much weapons. As much as i want more.

Darktide 2, on the other hand, can be more ridiculous in that regard. Especially if next game will not be limited to a specific lore niche.

Like, imagine 4 playable classes: Space Marine, Eldar, Ork and high ranked Inquisitor. You can throw in someone like Tau or Mechanicus as DLC race.
This is where you can go completely ham with weapon diversity. All kind of weapons. Just throw it there.

Space marine can have multiple classes. Devastator with heavy bolter. Assault with jetpacks. Classical tactical marine. Apothecary. Grey knight.
Eldar can be Seer, sniper, that warping spider character (i dunno much about Eldars, just listing ones i remember from DoW2)
Ork can be big boss, weird-boi, mek-boi, commando.
Inquisitor can be… emm… Inquisitor? Heavy melee focused with thunderhammers. more ranged with plasma pistols and melta-pistols. Or go full warp magic with some ancient books and grims. Smth like that.

And enemies are tyranids. We already had that situation of cooperation in DoW2… somewhat… Why not have it from first person shooter perspective.

If they add Dreadnaught as playable class (like DarkTide has ogryns) omg take my money fatshark.

Okay, I’m about to be excessively pedantic. You’ll see why I’m unable to resist.

“Ackuallllllly” lances don’t make the best spears due to their rather excessive length. I happen to be one of the few who actually owns two original lances made for horse cavalry at the end of their life as a viable military force.

On my wall are two lances made in Solingen for Uhlans. They are metal for the full length, hollow steel. Tips are not as sharp as you might expect, though more then enough with the weight of a horse behind it. The grip is wrapped with rope and there’s hardware to attach a flag on the end.

They are about 12 feet long. I paid less then 500 for the pair, but the shipping was much more because they had to come freight. Trying to manage one in any kind of tight space would be a nightmare.

What would make a good spear for our purposes is a bayonetted helbore or Kantrael (lasgun OR shotgun) that can block.

Swapping weapon would shift grip, and alt attack in ranged mode would stab, and in melee mode would shoot. It would be equipped with the same weapon in both melee and ranged slot for a moderate speed advantage, though you might (for sake of blessings) make the bayonet a ‘separate item’ from the rifle.

Darktide 2 isn’t needed, unlike VT2 was at it’s time.

And no, we don’t need SM

Don’t worry I like pedantry.

Neat, though when i said “adapted here as a spear” it wasn’t as much as taking a Hunting lance and using it as a spear as much as applying the same logic to a shorter Spear (So giving a normal spear a special charge to it)

Yeah, it’s kinda too bad we don’t get any. Spears were some of my favorite weapons in VT2.

Some factions in 40k do use reach-type weapons, don’t they? Like the Mechanicus, who have Arc Lances and Electroleech Staves.

And the Omnisian axe, which is somewhat Halberdy.

Perhaps we’ll get it when we finally get that admech profession (like skitarii) we’ve been begging for but they have never even suggested giving us?

Thanks, forgot the name of that one. Yeah, that’d be a great halberd.

Admech class seems so very obvious - would be accepted by the cast without a problem, the minor lore issues can be hand-waved, and it’d be really unique. That said, FS has never added new characters to their games and seem both confused and upset whenever it gets brought up to them, so I remain skeptical they ever will do it.

Confused and upset ? That’s a new one, they’ve always said that there won’t be a new character in VT2 cause it’s the U5 and any new character would not be as well involved with the other. Here (Darktide) they haven’t said the same thing

Pusfume doesn’t need manthings. Pusfume needs screentime!

There is precident for a polearm in an Inquisitorial retinue through Sergeant Stone:

He has what is referred to as a “duelling glaive (halberd)” in the Inquisitor rulebook. Whether we would actually see such a thing in DT is probably unlikely if I were to hazard a guess.

that’s not for you to decide if playerbase wants a new coop horde shooting game)

Granted, we do have space marine 2 coming up. And it will satisfy the need for SM vs Tyranids niche for players. But in 5-10 years having a new Darktide game, can be even called “SomethingTide” having a different name with same Tide concept. That involves playing several factions. SM, Eldars, Orks, Humans, Mechanicus, Tau. Would be nice. Hell, maybe even necron as subclass of mechanicus? Who knows.
