Grail Knight is my favorite aesthetically and gameplay-wise, but I sometimes feel slightly limited in my options. His regular loadout of Bretonian weapons works so well on him. I think I’d like to experiment with more stuff than he can currently use, like the spear and the spear and shield. I’m not sure why he can’t use these. Many 14th-century french knights (which is basically the Bretonians) would use the spear or spear and shield (not just lance) more often than sword. I don’t think it’d be OP on grail knight, bad or clash with the aesthetic any more than seeing him use a 15th century looking gothic shield.

Any content Fatshark creates/wants to include in the game, including careers such as the GK must be first vetted by Games Workshop (the owners of the Warhammer Fantasy IP). The reason GK can’t use spears (and range weapons for that matter) is that, in lore, Bretonnian knights andPreformatted text nobility don’t use such weapons as they consider them “peasants’ weapons” and beneath them.

This is also why WP’s flail doesn’t glow when under fury (and also why he can’t run solo flail), even though everyone Fat Shark included would prefer it if it did. And why Bardin can only have some variation of an axe, hammer, combo thereof or a mining pick for melees.

Thanks, I didn’t know that. I guess the whole point of the topic is out of the question and given that using spears would violate the lore, I wouldn’t want GK to use anything considered a “peasant weapon”. I appreciate lore consistency.
