Camera lock after alt+tabbing or accesing steam overlay

Issue Type (Required):

Input Devices (Keyboard, Mouse, Controller, etc.)

Issue Description (Required):

Hi, since around the EAC patch, occasionaly whenever I alt+tab or use the steam overlay, my camera movement gets completely locked out and no matter what I do it remains the same, I have to restart vermintide completely to fix this. It seems to occur whenever it’s back and forth, not when I actually do something in the different window I jump to.

Only camera movement input is not registered, everything else is absolutely fine. Even the actual in-game cursor in menus/tab display works fine.

I play in borderless normally. Is there some known interaction that would be causing this? If so, how could I prevent it, or at least if there’s something I could do besides actually restarting the whole game?

It always happens after a loading screen, BUT I can not be certain of that as I rarely alt+tab or use steam overlay outside of a loading screen being in progress, although it has never happened in all the 23 instances I have experienced this issue during the past 2 weeks outside of a loading screen. So far it has always been after a loading screen resolves (I started keeping track somewhat of how often it occurs to me since then).

I was actively trying to force this to happen for a little while just bashing randomly but I was unable to cause it intentionally.

What I tried whenever this happens:

  1. Alt+tabbing back and forth, closing all other aplications besides vermintide, closing off steam overlay and its windows
  2. Unplugging/plugging mouse, using a different mouse - having both of them plugged in until it has happened for one instance and both of them were locked out.
  3. Interacting with whatever I clicked in other applications or in the steam overlay, just randomly mashing buttons and stuff overall
  4. Playing without mods
  5. Changing from windowed(borderless) to the other 2 options (ctrl+f & alt+enter as well)

I did verify multiple times and I did a clean system install/game install on this machine as well since then as I was troubleshooting my PC.

Last thing before session end if it helps in any way, or let me know whatever else you’d need from me.

@Foctopus sorry to hear this. I’ve shared this report with our engine developers. Hopefully they’ll have some insight! I’ll be in touch once I’ve heard back from them. Thank you for your patience.

@Foctopus I spoke to our engine developers originally and they suspect a gameplay code issue, so I’ve raised this with our gameplay developers now for investigation.

Sorry I don’t have any immediate suggestions, but we’re on the case. If I hear anything specific from our gameplay devs when they get to this then I’ll let you know!
