Been playing Helldivers 2 recently and

I also wonder about this, imagine if they will drop it while Fatshark still continue to sell recolor skins, kekw

It’s just a completely different mindset and a good one at that.

Pretty much.

I have notioced a lot more coms chatter between player in HD2, than DT as most of the time it’s GG at the end of the run most of the time.

HD 2 is non-stop, even when it’s a 2-2 split party, a lot of the time, ytou are still communicating with each other, working out objectives, calling for back up etc…

Well I can’t solo, so there. :frowning: I’m lvl +30 at most, not +300! I’ll stick with others, since that’s the way the game’s been built, IMO.

And I’d argue that a non-competitive game probably shouldn’t be entirely balanced around the top skilled players with the best builds, as they’ll always be able to “break” the game if it’s balanced around everyone else. And if it’s balanced for these people then everyone else will have a miserable time.

Take Titanfall 2 as an example of another non-competitive game. Those really skilled players will often do extra challenges for themselves because otherwise the game is too easy for them. They’ll run with the Kraber, or take some pistol and slap on mods on it so it’s got the effectiveness of a pea shooter. But if they wanted to start clutching they’d dominate so hard it wouldn’t be fun (neither for them, nor for anyone else).

I’ve had the (somewhat questionable) privilege of watching an +300 ogryn player solo a some high-intensity mission today (I can’t tell if it was auric or just normal damnation high-int). Not only did he seemed to have the map layout perfectly memorized (i.e. was able to move backwards without looking and running into walls / falling of a cliff), he was also somehow faster than the enemies and seemed to be doing… glitchy things? Like he’d mash the block button for reasons I don’t understand. It’s not a level of play I’m really interested in, and I suspect most people are playing DT for the W40k co-op at the end of the day.

you say this like it was something strange/uncommon.

if i got into a game i immerse myself completely in its mechanics/design/map layouts.

especially when bored at work i “mindmap” through different maps forward/backwards, think of situations where things went well or south etc.

one reason i came to appreciate the handcrafted maps (even though the game could need any content by now, procedurally created ones as well)
are the tiny spots where you can use crates, pillars, higher ground in general to your advantage by outplaying your enemies, cause you’ve become one with your surroundings.

overskilled players coming down to lower difficulties is a boring thing i’d wager, can’t think of a reason for it myself for auric maelstrom gives ample opportunities to finish melk weeklies in 3-4 matches.

still there should be an “open ceiling” for those dedicating themselves to be the best possible at the game.

would keep this fraction from getting bored and make for some nice incentive to invest more time and energy.

speaking of which, fridge is empty, gonna restock. got me a sweet week off to get that ogryn juices flowing.

see ya ingame

oh, by the way

depending on your weapon, block/animation cancel is used to churn out heavy attacks in the quickest succession possible.
while it looks silly most of the time, there is a combo i like to use myself with the shield that feels fluid and genuine. heavy-push-light. faster than normal heavies and still full fluidity of motion, so it seems its in there as intended

its essentially, what fatshark is always saying tho,

“i’ve delivered the message” → 6 months later, nothing…

i consider arrowhead a better studio when they actually adressed it either by implementing it or boldly saying how it is and it won’t happen, before that i won’t praise them for the same shtick

That one tweet alone unironically has more communicative value than anything that Fatshark has allowed the CMs to give us for months.

It’s definitely going to be uncommon for any but the highest level of players.

Possibly a hot take, but this depends what’s required to get this sort of thing going.

If you need to make the game harder (and more frustrating) for 80/90% of the playerbase to keep the top-level players happy, then it’s probably not good balancing. If it’s just a matter of adding a new difficulty level then it’s probably fine.

Because, at the end of the day, Darktide isn’t some competitive PvP game, it’s a casual co-op game.

No, he wasn’t swinging when he was doing that. He was moving backwards, with his melee weapon out, and seemed to be mashing the block button.

Valid solution… but won’t that make the anti-cheat throw a hissy fit tho?

which doesnt mean one cant enjoy it to the fullest.

right now its kinda the only game that gets my juices flowing and i dedicate every ounce into mastering my game.

wasnt implying upping the already existing difficulties but adding some on top.
even if it means some penances for map variations taking ages, cant for the life of me get back to heresy or damnation.
that dopamin tastes far to good, craving some more already

personally i’m only interested in the extreme in whatever strikes my free-time fancy.

sadly having crappy 10 hour shifts past a certain age means i dont meet my own demand anymore when it comes to games like quake live/champions.

but with all the beautiful movement and physics darktide provides it’d be a shame not to use em to the fullest.

this and i’m all into warhammer since the games visuals struck every fancy in my book so yeah, i’m no-lifin the game and aint gonna pretend otherwise

as for the way you describe the dude flailing, might have been a script gone wrong, neither like nor use those. if i cant even create the motion myself i aint worthy of its results i say.

Unsure. Some keyboards have hardware on the fly macro recording without needing software.

Then again the anti cheat isn’t so great. There are reports of people given max resources for 100% unlock by playing with others who cheated because of shared rewards…Whether they like it or not. So legit players have to submit ticket to remove their resources to reverse it.

Bad design the client side gets to report to the server how much resources earned that goes towards their account.

So stumbled into a funny detail while doing higher level content. When trying to do a suicide mission we were just getting absolutely swarmed and the equipment we were doing just wasn’t cutting it with the objectives we had.

1 teamate with all the samples ram to extract while the rest stayed to launch the ICBM. It turns out that if the ICBM launched while the shuttle is on the leaving cutscene it will still count the mission as complete.

It was an amazing feeling after a mission that was just hell.

This topic right here convinced me to buy Helldivers 2 lol.

I was interested in it from the start but liked the melee aspect of Darktides combat too much to shift over to Helldivers.
Through this topic I checked the current reviews and the communication on Arrowheads site… Seems really good.

Fatshark isn’t really doin it for me. Atleast not in the way I was hoping when I first started playing Darktide. I’m pretty disappointed. Still got my moneys worth but the current state, communication and flow of content just feels bad. Could be a banger of a game with some work but I won’t hold onto this dream anymore. Copium ran out.

That was an HD1 problem HD2 is trying to solve via their kernel level anticheat. Ironically didn’t prevent people from hacking hexcodes to change strategems and get access to mechs early. Etc.
