“Can’t track Steam Users” is a bold faced lie. Ridiculous.
Every Steam user at account creation is assigned one individual user ID. Anything that interfaces with Steam by having Steam API integrated gets access to that Steam ID and can sell to it, restrict access and do other Steam related things relating to their product.
As for politics - Look at these dudes. Look at Twinbeard. Look at Misty. Do these guys look unpolitical to you? 
I’m not trying to stir the pot here, but in time you’ll find that most people are not that complex. They wear their heart on their chest, their appearance is what they are.
Because it is bullshmite. Steam API is easy to work with and accessible to anyone selling on Steam.

As per usual being intellectually disingenious and stuck-up, doubling down. They are only making it worse.
They could have scored some sympathy points by going “our publisher demands it, we are sorry”, but this passive-aggressiveness will only make it worse. Nevermind that they’re missing the point. It’s not about the 120 second process. It’s about something else here.
Classic “We have altered the deal, pray we don’t alter it any further” stuff. It’s all so tiresome…
And then execs wonder why we despise them. Why do so many (not all) people at the top ladders of companies think so arrogantly and dismissive of the people they service? To the point that they think they can just keep demanding more and more and the “sheeple” will fork it over.
It’s this mentality that is ruining our world right now. Same people at company top ladders wil fire their employees in mass to score a 10% CEO payout bonus.
This short-term greed is appalling.
They think they’re holier than thou and that they can hurt those not from EU / US. But you think the average Ruski or Chinaman cares? They will be upset for a bit, yes. But they will move on. They have their own economy with their own media and their own everything.
I don’t think Helldivers 2 devs and Sony even realize how graced they were to get the business of the usually politically separated regions of our planet.
Such arrogance, such ungratefulness. I think I’m going to vomit.

The “Spitz Redemption Arc” is on, and wholesom. By the latest from the Discord, AH really had nothing to do with the push, apart from being told and asked to come up with cosmetic ls for rewarding account linking.
The CMs are saying that talks between AH and SONY are ongoing atm, and the stance of the devs is wholly against the push.
Naturally, the internets have already taken this on and the content machine is churning.
Atm I’d say SONY should make all linking optional, to backpedal with grace while still retaining some profit from the move.
