Not that I recall… the debuff’s been there every time I recall being snatched up. I mean, it may be possible, I have no idea. This special condition is great and getting TONS of interaction for me with BON, so maybe I’ll encounter it.
if you have lot of corruption, BoN can also grab you
either having lot of corruption or being slowed down by the vomit (you will get also some debuff movement and it can stacks iirc)
this i agree, it’s more like getting the right timings and priorities and coordination with the team.
maybe instead of tweaking the Beast, you just get better at the game?
All its attacks can be dodged, it’s incredibly easy to engage in melee
There really isn’t much to say about this, if you think some of the attacks are “unfair” then you don’t know how to dodge
In my testing, the gobble genuinely only works while you have the slime debuff on you (the one from spitting that can stack)
To be fair nothing ever tells you this so it’s a bit hard to make the connection but it is how it works and it functions as far as I can tell and test
yeah, anything related to the bile it leaves behind as well. Not just being spit on, but walking IN the slime applies the same debuff which allows the munch.
Maybe I’ve just walked on it then. Tbh the entire floor is yellow within seconds because it vomits non stop. Almost impossible to avoid in many cases unless you’re in a wide open space and there’s not many of those in DT.
Its a very boring, dps check boss with low/no skill used to beat it. Its incredibly annoying in tight spaces where the only counter is to shoot in the face. The vomit hitbox is not aligned with the vomit spew which is incredibly frustrating. You can melee it but this requires an open space to kite vomits and back away from swipes and slams which isn’t always possible. The only counter to being eaten if you have a stack of vomit is to run away. If swallowed, ground fire, poxbursters, and other bosses can still hurt and kill you. It can eat random enemies to heal (healing by itself isn’t a problem, but when added with everything else the boss does it’s frustrating). It leaves a constant corruption causing trail behind it, which sucks because that’s where you are supposed to go to damage it, and again is incredibly annoying in tight spaces.
Just an insanely unfun boss and it is mind boggling that anyone would defend it. The event spawning full health Beasts is easily the most offensive part of it imo.
I can definitely not replicate this. It’s consistently never ever eating me unless I have the stacking slime debuff on it. The yellow debuff on the left = you will get eaten. The purple is just “you’re standing in goop” and doesn’t let it do that.

I’ve killed 3 slugs 100 to 0 now and none of them were able to eat me with me intentionally standing in the pee for that purple debuff, standing directly next to them meleeing them.
Good to know. Probably catching stray goop being near enough to the hitbox. Haven’t been caught since the event started, but I’ve been caught by single strays before… probably just paying attention more knowing that there are going to be multiple.
As for the OP topic itself, this is definitely the easiest boss to tank solo with the least movement involved. It’s genuinely dead simple. Just side dodge and slide and beat the hell out of it. Unlike the chaos spawn (flailing) and plague ogryn (charge) it doesn’t even have any toughness/stamina tax attacks. There is nothing unfair about this. There’s no RNG, there’s no undodgeables, nothing. I intentionally used the character with the biggest hitbox and a wep with bad dodges.
Note I was standing in the goop intentionally here, you don’t have to get corrupted at all, if you just do counterclockwise/clockwise rotation you never have to stand in it. Also note that in an actual game it’ll sometimes do the knockback slams instead (triggered by nearby allies) which you dodge by going backwards.
I don’t think it’s unfair per se, but I think it’s the most annoying boss out of all of them. Feels like you always take attrition damage fighting it, and melee classes cry.
Depends honestly, if the aggro’d guy just runs away straight and you run directly after it that’s more or less what the slug trail is designed to punish. You can either rely on teamwork (trusting that the guy tanking it is actually keep it in place) or you can rely on yourself (do what Badwin mentioned and hit it in the back from the side)
You can perfect this boss pretty easily both as the person with aggro and someone just hitting it from the side
The biggest annoyance this boss provides to me is its inability to jump down ledges, it takes some weird path around instead
that’s the thing with the snails, they’re just boring to fight. you see people post about a fun fight with a pogryn or a spawn, but a snail? of course, a shield psyker can trivialize them pretty much, you can bolter or stubber them in the back, or dodge when they puke and smack them from the side… but most time you’re trying to get at their back, running on their slime. i’d like them to become faster and more aggressive when wounded, spawn nurglings or whatever creatures, but i guess it’s that slime in the first place that makes fighting them frustrating.
i’m writing this now after an 8 hour service for the emperor with all classes. i had the easiest time as zealot, sliding in their back and bonking / boltering the slime out of them, but still, meeting one in a corridor is not great gameplay.
This is true but level-dependent. Getting a puppy in narrow corridors is an outsized amount of bad design.
My bigger complaint with puppies is the slime trail they leave behind. Especially in restricted mobility environments. In front is bad, behind is worse. Everything else it does is secondary to how painful it can be to approach a puppy to give it the love and attention it needs. With a chainsword.
Remove the spit or the slime trail, and/or tone it down and the problem mostly goes away. Having some area denial is fine. Having sections you can get a beast that completely destroys the fun of the boss, less so. Especially for melee-centric characters.
Yeah most of the map areas make it aids to fight the burgle durgle. The main obnoxious element to me is how much they tuned up the stagger resistance on him, trying to get him to spit out a teammate without a huge stagger source or unyielding-spanking ranged is so hard now. And that person proceeds to run over fire, take like 75% corruption and get spit out blinded with no toughness. Skill issue for sure but extremely punishing vs the other 2.
And I have some clips of how it animation cancels like a sweaty SSBM player when you do make it spit out a fresh player and also engage it in melee. In one it cycles through like 2 eat cycles/spits slams twice and does a tail swipe, and all of those just cancel into one another mid move.
Are you ever truly forced to?
I will upload gameplay of me on auric damnation for the event missions, and absolutely MOG all of you!
unless a beast of nurgle shows up of course
Yeah, on some levels. Likewise the grab to be eaten can be annoying with lag, getting grabbed from well outside melee is definitely annoying.
The ‘bad map area to fight’ becomes especially problematic if you just dropped down a point of no return and the only way through is forwards, where a lot of enemies waiting to make the boss that much worse are. Doubly so if, as seen in this event, you run into a second boss and the 2 tagteam each other. At least 2 beasts of nurgle aren’t any worse than 1. But a beast + chaos or plague is straight awful. Though this example is extremely niche.
