Are you serious? (cosmetic price complain)

Same.

I’ve bought many of the supporter packs and other cosmetics for DRG, despite having only 1/3 the playtime.

I do this fundamentally because Ghost Ship studios is a company I want to support. And I want to support them because I feel like they appreciate me as customer/player and respect my playtime (see customer appreciation). The design of the games and its various systems are player-positive and feel rewarding to engage with and it makes me happy.

Darktide and Fatshark is frequently the opposite. I play DT despite NOT liking Fatshark’s practices and attitude towards its players because sadly it’s the only game in town with respect to combat gameplay.

It’s been a long time since I’ve purchased any premium cosmetics for DT and I don’t plan to as long as the shop is run the way it is. Thankfully the other systems in DT are getting slowly better, but there are a lot of QoL stuff that needs to be fixed and still missing features (solo-play, better/customizable bots, better mission selection options, etc) that still need to be implemented.

That was exactly what I pointed.
They said that the logo would mark cosmetics with more work.

However, this is just a recolor of something already existing with one less detail… worse, they sell even the exact same model that is just a recolor. The only change are the metal plate that is not here on the promoted cosmectic.
This is just outrageous this time… just a recolor where they have removed ONE detail. Does this deserve more money?? I don’t think so.

I agree price is really high, and that’s something that annoys me. If they would divide it by 4, I would buy all cosmetics, by 2, I would buy a lot of them. But with current prices, I try to not buy from the shop.

Best things they could do is to rework totally the cosmectic system and gives us a for the drip (extended) version.
So, 4 levels of customization:
Level 1: we could choose our cosmetic model
Level 2: We could recolor our model
Level 3: We could change texture used on our model
Level 4: We could choose to add, or not, accessories to the model we use (like a candle, or a metal plate etc)

They could sell: models, colors, textures, accessories. So more to sell…
And they would earn more money…

rather than selling mere recolors or reskins at a half-heartedly high price, I feel that selling more ‘distinctive’ skins at a higher price - like that Iron Man-style skin released with the previous patch (I forgot its name) would sell better.

I’d love to see this.

So much opportunity to for customizing “flair” on your outfits and having events reward little trinkets, unique textures/colors, etc. to feed into cosmetics.

I’m declaring #letuspaint as the new crafting memorial style thread. An undying call for improvement on the cosmetics front. Undying until things improve at least (=

At the start when you bought a bundle in the cash shop you also got some weapons skins. This disappeared quickly.
Also it’s very annoying that there is so little available at one time. Is it made on purpose to try hideing how many overly priced recoloring there are maybe?

No, it looks like a new model for the coat. The old coat is sold separately. This one is more accurate to the artwork.

i don´t want to cheap out on them, but seeing the price hike from 800 aquilas for a “simple” ogryn camo set among the first batches to these compared with a total absence of weapon skin bundles isn´t very enticing once you already got a wardrobe of stuff you only occasionally use.

the “it´s nice but i already got something like it” pops up more and more often in my mind.

and this is coming from a guy who up until playing darktide was frowning upon buying such “stuff” in the first place for as long as this practise was out.

buuuut since it tend to collect figures to all the game franchises i´m really invested into, 40k was a no brainer for 1/12 and while snatching up a bunch of those it thought “why not…” seeing that bullgryn armor for the first time.

even had to make a shameful confession to my gaming buddy, having “bought a skin” :flushed:
now his wardrobe is bigger than mine.

It’s still ridiculously overpriced.

I’m someone who has bought at least 4 max aquilla bundles since starting the game, so I’m not shy to supporting with cash, but I’m now only ever buying a weapon skin if it’s good and reasonable.

The price of cosmetics is just too much, especially after I noticed how much FS used to charge for bundles and items…that was the straw that broke my wallets back.

Sure, I wasn’t commenting on the price, just pointing out that it’s not a recolour.

I thought the hat prices were trending downwards again after the Enforcer sets had 900 priced ones like the average set. This is definitely a greedier move with mostly all the side hats being 1400 this time.

Moving away from FOMO rotation would really help your sales. Seriously, I have discord of 12 people that I play co-op games with and everyone is interested in buying some skins now in Darktide (few would like that full armor cosmetics for Ogryn, I would like that plate armor for Zealot I saw once etc.) after itemization update - but you just don’t give us chance to buy anything. Literally your store looks like that:

  1. I want to buy at store - jeans, black hoodie, cap
  2. I enter your store - and you sell only (with unspecified time frame) shorts, flip flops and jacket, despite sign “clothing store”.
  3. I am asking staff: “hey, I would like to buy jeans, black hoodie and cap. My friend told me he bought them here. Will they be available soon?”
  4. “Dunno, maybe sometime in the future, I have no idea when. Maybe in week, maybe in year. Maybe black hoodie will be red hoodie by then though”.
  5. I walk away.

Before your store sells jeans, black hoodie and cap again, I moved on with my life and money. Maybe I would buy green sneakers if I saw one, but you only had shorts, flip flops and jacket…

I still can’t get over why we have to use this biweekly FOMO store rotation. That should be next on the radar after pricing.

Speaking of, I was considering buying the red zealot themed veteran cosmetic last night, the one taken off the store today. But decided against it as I only wanted to pair it with the red commissar hat and I wasn’t sure they’d be adding it to the store any time soon. Naturally, I wake up to find the hat has been added and the cosmetic has been shifted out for something else. Fatshark missed out on me spending 2100 aquilas with these decisions. I’ll probably skip on the commissar hat as well.

Just let us buy what we want.

Ah, I see what you mean. Both are on the Veteran page now. On the left, the re-modelled version with new trousers and boots, in the centre, the original version that was released but matched with those newer trousers. In the interests of being thorough, the original Steel Legion bundle screen is below.

Its a shame that they did not rectify the design of the first version with the new one, but they’ve got to vociferously chase down that money no matter what. This is why I don’t buy any cosmetics, not just because we’ve seen the price increase so much and I refuse to pay the extoritionate prices, as well as the removal of weapon skins and trinkets from bundles early on, but because the mostly awful skins we’ve had so far might get nicer versions later on. Even then I won’t buy them because, again, what if something better comes along? I can see my IE Aquilas sitting there forever, frankly.

This whole predatory FOMO store thing works in the opposite to me; what if something better comes along? Best save my money.

EXACTLY! There is no point spending money if I can’t be sure I get maximum value out of it

But then we’ll notice all the recoloured replicas :joy:

As if we don’t notice it already.

What’s weird is that a Chinese or Korean outsource team will be able to knock out a billion new cosmetic s every week…so the constant recolour/reuse is kinda bizarre.

We see them anyway.

its cuz the guy in charge probably still doesn’t understand why people like cosmetics. It took ages for them to even coordinate colors in VT2 cuz the director didn’t understand why people would want that, hell he was even disdainful of people who did.

Preaching to the choir, my friend, I don’t work at Fatshark.
