Arbites class New Players having Rambo syndrome

has anyone else noticed this in their games?

new players using the Arbites class running off alone in Heresy or higher difficulty.
i feel they are new players as their mobility and actions are rather basic.
no dodging, no melee mixing, using several charges of a Medice station.
wasting Medical kits at said stations, using stims right when they get them. ect.

sadly i think its the Dog being so good at keeping Trap Enemies at bay.
so these players seem to be running off and getting swarmed by hordes.

has anyone else experienced this?
does anyone have suggestions on how to correct this behavior?

anti-Rambo suggestions as no one wants to play one man down.
that is when they eventually get killed alone in a corner somewhere.

When they get killed in a corner somewhere say “try and stay with the team”. Guess there’s nothing beyond that that you can do.

they run off and learn. or they don’t learn, and nothing of value was lost.

and being forced to play lower difficulties where the dog plays the game for you and there are next to 0 threats whatsoever. At least T3 starts throwing specials at you and Daemonhosts start to spawn.

It’s because on Auric they basically can’t be punished because of their tools and damage reduction, and ability to 1shot almost every threat.

The best is when they run ahead stealing all of the ammo, but also killing everything. Really makes the game fun.

When I was dead I spectated a guy doing this face tank a Boss with his Shotgun out, without Dodging and not using Castigate, with Gunners shooting at him, and kill it, without having his Toughness cracked.

Also them shooting every Poxburster is really fun.

Another thing is how many are ignoring downed people.

Came back to Darktide within the last month, and the change in attitude and playstyle since Arbites has been something to behold.

I can’t even learn the game properly anymore, because everything is dead. I’d just have to run Havocs or duos with my friend.

Lobbies are melee class heavy. They’re running ahead for the ammo and stims first before any kill padding on top. So it’s high mobility classes, which just happen to dominate horde and armour.

Yup the dog guarantees anti-dog and “most” of the time incoming trapper. It is giving people over confidence against disablers.

You can’t change this behaviour unfortunately, so can only adapt knowing you won’t get any ammo, med stims or medstation (until 4 charge medstation shows up).

Death is very forgiving in this game, they respawn in same room or close by next area. So they know dying just means rescue sets them up to do it all over again.

I feel like I would need to see that to believe it tbh.
Nothing in the game can, afaik, facetank a boss and Gunners with only a ranged weapon without dodging or using powers or losing any toughness.
Seems farfetched.

I fully understand. He was using Charge though.

Guy did 1.1 mill damage in an Auric, by playing solo, so I’d imagine he knew what he was doing in terms of DMGR and toughness generation.

And Lone Wolf

Was just talking about this yesterday, I think it’s because it’s a pet class that can un-cc itself easily. It has a lot of forgiveness that other classes don’t really. Also we just had a huge influx of new players.

Was he pumping the cdr on the Charge and spamming it?

I still have my doubts but I would love to see it (and replicate it too :star_struck:)

I didn’t notice. Also didn’t check if he was on console tbh.

just finished a match, Chaos Spawn that pushed us toward a Deamon host,

Arbites dude (even though we are neck deep in Chaos Spawn) he runs up and agros the Host
then starts spam (marking) the Deamon host, and his dog is bearly participating.
after he gets killed, he was mouthing off in chat how “his dog was glitched and didnt save him.”

the rest of the team was like "well ya you were trying to Solo a deamon host.
got in over your head and we couldnt save you, as we were focusing the Chaos Spawn.

then he posts in Chat “crap game too many Glitches with the Dog”
“team never helps, everyone is out for themselves and theirs no teamwork”

just as we get to him and start picking him up as a re-spawn, he disappears.
and a bot appears in his place, i guess he didnt want to continue the match.

As far as I have seen, and I am guilty of it too, everyone and their mother that has been playing Arbitrator has just been Ramboing because it’s OP as hell. People saying the dog is the greatest asset of the class are flat out wrong. The entire class is busted to god tier. Almost nothing stops a fairly good and built Arby.
It makes the higher difficulties feel lame when I used to be tested at least cuz I’m not amazing at the game. And squad coherency has been noticeably looser on average. I hope they put the arbitrator in line with the other classes cuz right now it trivializes most of what the game throws at you.

More than just Arbitrator players do this, don’t just single out one class, make your posts fair and objective.

Yep, I am at my wits end with all these Dredds, StopResistings, and JudgeTrashcans

Players usually yell at me for being to slow on my Arbitrator, mainly due to checking all cache boxes and resource gathering. But I am never in a rush, so those way ahead can spend time waiting, Hahaha.

I have absolutely, 100%, clutched 2 missions I would not have been able to with anything else but Ogryn. And maybe not even then due to his size making him the bigger ranged target in the sea of other shite I was dealing with. And I was still running terminus warrant for the penance at the time. So, yeah, homie is a tiny tank.

Unfortunately, I don’t really see a guy doing this, especially ‘with his shotgun out’, without Castigator’s Stance being active, or the game lagging and it just looking like the gunner was hitting him. Because those gunner beams HURT even with Damage Resist Curios if you just stand in them, and while yes with Castigators up you literally are immune/take no damage and I’ve tanked 4 rangers with a gunner beaming me in the dom before (or a whole host of monstrosities in Auric Mortis Trials), but taking a beaming to the face plus a monstrosity with no dodges…I’m very skeptical Castigators was not involved.

That being said, I can maybe see it if you’re running something like:

  • Lone Wolf (15% DR on top of a bunch of other stuff)
  • 10% base DR pip
  • Forceful with all upgrades (would make sense against the boss, Stun immunity, 5% toughness regen, and 25% damage reduction)
  • Force of Will (10% toughness on stagger, combined with just pelting the monstrosity with shotgun shots and staggering it)
  • Suppression Fire (enemy does 20% less damage for 5s after being staggered)
  • Hold the Line (15% melee DR, for the monstrosity again)
  • And likely a proc of Imposing Force (25% DR after an elite/specialist kill)

And even then, a bit skeptical, unless the boss was knocking them around a lot and the ‘gunner shooting them’ was actually missing like half their shots. This isn’t even the highest amount of passive survivability (the dog gives you 5% toughness regen a second plus an additional 2% a second after a kill and 20% DR, not to mention you can now take part of the squad for another 7.5% toughness DR), but given what was stated in the thread this is the best I can come up with. I got a similar set up for a regening Arbite’s Grenade build (just cause I wanted to have one) and it’s pretty tanky, so maybe it was a good bit more resilient than I realized…shrug.

Either way, yeah, to op’s point Arbite just lets you ‘hold forward’ and not care, and that combined with Auric getting neutered this patch makes it so even low end players can just hold W and win. It’s nice in some ways, but makes the game so insanely easy, to the point I play Auric Morits Trials with deliberately bad RNG random buffs just to feel alive again (the last 3-5 waves can just spawn infinite monstrosities sometimes and it makes me feel happy), or I got a good Maelstrom Gloriana yesterday that was SUPER fun and ‘felt like the old days’ of a week and a half ago XD. Besides that though, I’ve had a Veteran yesterday that seemed drunk, talking over mic about something every so often (I had a video up so wasn’t paying attention to him), and just kept holding W, dying repeatedly because he was a balanced class not Arbite, and then left toward the end after dying for the fifth time XD. Literally didn’t hinder the team what so ever but was amusing to watch.

so they are enabled by something to run off… and die?, but if they die it means they are not enabled to run off in the first place, so the game is already working as intended

its just new players experimenting stuff, you should be carefull what you wish for when asking for devs to control behaviors

it’s just new players being new players. sure, arbities has a lot of defensives that may allow people to do that behavior but it’s not its fault. if it really is that bad, you can kick them.
