Arbites Loner, the New Class

It’s becoming more common to see Arbites “Loners” in Damnation/Auric.

Why stick with the team when you have infinite stagger, you’re built like a toughness tank and Spot the friendly superdog at your side? Downed by a hound? No problem! Pesky mutie zipping around? Easy! About to get pressed by an Elite patrol? Throw a Voltaic Mine down and watch them fall like dominos to the mightest maul of all!

Maybe it’s just bad luck on my part, but the incentive for looting and Coherency seem drastically diminished for Arbites with the plethora of errrm… strong tools he has.

We’ll probably just have to wait until Fatshark returns from their break and the sales-driven favoritism period for Arbites ends. As for me, I immediately leave the game if there are more than three Arbites in the party.

lol are you the fourth?

Nope it was always the Arbites Loner just slaughtering everything with some tag alongs luckily everything dies so fast it seems like your in a group =p

Maybe a symptom of its power LEAP.

I’ll still play as long as there are no more than two Arbites, including myself.
With Chorus and Smite around too, I’m even more likely to leave the game :joy:

Yeah, still ‘dragging’ myself through the 100 Arbite games to get the penance over with (at 75, so so very close) and it’s just insane the level of ‘I don’t care’ the class lets you get away with. Basically played this evening like a reverse bot where I’d go the opposite direction the team goes just to grab loot and resources, then get caught in the horde. But while for all the other characters I’d try and work my way back ASAP, I’d just stay in my corner with Arbite/push forward in most cases and literally not get punished.

Bleed/Brittle/Shock dog just DoT’s down the wave every pounce, that + the lovely Aura that I love the flavor of so much but is so broken it’s ridiculous (Part of the Squad, Dog count’s as coherency, so I never get touched by any of the ‘outside of coherency’ random spawns and even if a few do slip through, said dog takes care of them for me), means I’m basically incapable of dying unless I miss time a overhead dodge (and even then, that’s only when my Castigator Stance isn’t active). That plus ‘the point of death’ for the detonating shock collar for even more AOE nuking splendor, and all the other bonuses to ‘staggered’ enemies (which everything’s staggered if Concussive has anything to say about it) and just drop everything by mashing attack in the right order and hitting the dodge key after every push attack combo.

Multiple times across the games I did this evening I was walking forward through the horde, realized my team was having issues behind me, worked my way back to them through the horde, dealt with a few things, walked forward again, then went ‘ohh wait they are still having trouble behind me’ and just rinse repeated that process is insane. There was also a point where the kill feed was just my Arbite’s name over and over and over as I think I had to have been ‘the host’/the closest connection to the server that game as every time my dog would jump through a line of specials they’d just fall over and get credited to me from the bleed. It’s quite nutz, and to the point I’m doing all this just to ‘see what I can get away with’ and laughing in a depressed manor realizing ‘I can get away with anything’.

I’m happy the community at large has largely realized this though and swapped off this class pretty quickly, games in Auric have actually gone back to being ‘pretty fun’ most of the time (at least the ones this evening had the enemy density I remembered them having since before the update), since I at most saw one other Arbite for most of my games. I can’t wait to get off them myself, dog is nice flavor, but I just wanna go back to actually having to engage with the game again xd. 25 more games, 25 more games and my objective compulsion will be sated and I can go back to having fun.

Sounds like the average Loner Zealot.

Just wait until they finished the Rework of Zealots Tree and the others. Then discuss again who is broken.

as of now arbites and ogryn are broken beyond belief thats theres almost no point on bringing anyone else

Not really; first you can still play other Classes for fun and not muh Scoreboard and second other Classes are still very much viable and better in several fields than Arbites or Ogryn especially in higher Havocs the others are still prefered choices due to Chorus/Dome/VoC and Ogryn

and as said the other remaining three will get their rework they alrdy said they are actively working on zealots just going to take…a while…and a skilled player can alrdy ‘outperform’ (rly important to do so in a coop pve) an arbites with the other classes except for veteran just the skill level is higher to do so

Waiting for a somewhat distant future to discuss and navigate the present is something you should do on your own privately.

its not fun to play as a vet when the squad is 3 other arbites that steamroll everything on their way.

and you just admited that the vet has no way of outperform the arbites

Live service :winking_face_with_tongue:

Sorry, but Voltaic Lone Wolf Break the Line Arby is Smyker levels of bad dialed up to full throttle. Branx Maul gets a 45% damage buff (Execution and High Voltage) for merely using special attack with Concussive Talent, that damage buff applies to the electric DoTs and stacks quickly on multiple special attacks.

Hound does too much, allows players to ignore coherency with half the repercussions other classes get thanks to the Aura counting hound as being in Coherency and hound turning Specialists into total clowns with Castigators + Execution Orders.

Look, the redesigned Talent Tree for Arby is a welcome change to Darktide and it was expected that Arby was going to be a strong class because it’s a paid DLC. However it’s impossible to ignore Arby changes the fundamentals of Darktide in a massive way that’s not entirely good and needs reasonable adjustments as a result.

also the dog makes you immune to hounds

Maybe because Arbite players are just sick of the self-centred players who use Scoreboard to make justifications on why they need to kill steal all Elites, Specialists, Monstrosities, Roamers, Captains, and Horde in the game. Then make crying posts about it on the FS forums.

But it’s a cooperative game, it shouldn’t matter who got the kill.

Unless… power creep actually is a very real thing and Loner Arbites players are avoiding teammates because the effects of power creep potentially deny them their kills

And yet the only players who don’t think that are Scoreboard users, then cry to FS because the team fails to let them get all the kills.

Yep, I do this as I hate self-centred players who feel the need to kill steal. It is also mainly scoreboard users who feel that only Arbite players do this, but in reality Ogryns, and Zealots also to this, but let’s not mention those in a thread. Let’s just cry about Arbite players.

  1. I don’t use Scoreboard currently and haven’t for a while.
  2. Yes, I agree Ogryn Talent Tree is in need of adjustments but Arbites is currently the biggest outlier.

IDK about “kill-stealing” but there are definitely times where it’s annoying or problematic to have an overzealous heretic slayer on the team.

An Ogryn gets good toughness from heavy melees, so it’s quite frustrating when I’ve got someone on my team who prioritises the lone poxwalker next to me over the shooters who are the actual problem.

Veterans also get some good toughness from elite/special kills so I imagine that could be similar.

It’s nothing that some consideration and target priority won’t alleviate, but sometimes that is in fact too much to ask for…
