listen, i get it, abhumans like the ogryn are enough for some people, but just having the ogryn and the psyker doesn’t really encapsulate the true vastness of the impirium of man, nor does it do the lore justice. i think that adding more abhumans would be a great idea, not as classes, but as another race so to speak, for instance, there are literal cat people who fight in the emperors name and i would love to play as one, they are called Felinids. there are also Beastmen who fight in the ranks of the astra-militarum and they are pretty cool, i would love to play these races as zealots and as veterans, i’m sure other people would too, not just for some extra customization, but for the lore it could bring.
no i want less abhumans
My honest reaction:

More abhumans would be rad but I’m not sure which ones we can even do. The only types of abhuman that have a lot of lore that I know of that would likely be represented in this game are Psykers, Ogryns, and Blanks, and blanks are such a rarity that they’d probably be reserved for a supporting character later on. Wait until they reveal that Swagger is a blank for no reason.
Felinids are the obvious furry/weeb bait choice but Troths are a species I wish could be expanded upon - though most abhumans I know of are functionally similar to standard humans, just visually different - how do you add them to the game in a believable way? Which ones reside closest to the Moebian Domain? Would they just be facial/body shapes of the standard human classes, or entirely unique?
Absolutely not. We’re playing as the Imperium, not the filthy tau.
In a game like “rogue trader” bringing alot of weird $hit, the rare, the abnormal stuff from the far reaches of the galaxy etc is fine, great even.
But in a game like darktide? Horrible idea.
Daemonhost: “WHY AREN’T YOU GETTING CORRUPTION?!”
Blank: “Magic isn’t real, you idiot!”
Blanks are known to be recruited by the Ordo Hereticus as Acolytes rather frequently, at least compared to their overall rarity.
A Blank Arbitrator NPC based on Karl Urban’s portrayal of Judge Dredd would be vastly superior.

Yes would love more variety in style of gameplay and abhumans would bring this.
Not so sure about cat folk myself but it’s no secret that I really want a Ratling character.

I f…knew this is going to lead to heresy, Kruber pass me my warhammer. No, no, the BIG one, the big one!

That would explain my natural dislike of him.

In the words of an Inquisitor addressing the accused who has broken under torture and wishes to confess their heresy, "Tell me more … " (In other words, that’s a very interesting idea for an NPC).
If I have a hope for any Abhuman joining Darktide’s line-up, it would be Beastmen. Question is whether they would be the fifth archetype itself, in which case I’m not sure what they would bring to the table, or would they be an option in character creation for the Veteran & Zealot archetypes? I could happily have a Beastman Guardsman as my 5th character slot. Be rather funky.

I wonder if our reject characters are blanks since we do not succumb to corruption even when confronted with something like a BoN?
nor does it do the lore justice.
The lore has plenty of things that isn’t good, and doesn’t need justice to be done. As well as thing that either make no sense or wouldn’t work here.

So basically being introduced as new Veteran personality that give cat ears and such ?

Not before GW make official arts and models of them. It’s the same situation as Ogryn not having 2 gender, GW never showed female models or arts.
there are also Beastmen who fight in the ranks of the astra-militarum and they are pretty cool, i would love to play these races as zealots and as veterans
Beastmen if they ought to appear, would be better portrayed as a separate Arche, they can’t really be Zealot, as they’re forced into the Abhuman Auxillia (or press ganged into Slave works).
And there would be the problem of adapting all the cosmetics to make them work to them (unless we treat them as ‘helmets’)
Blanks
Couldn’t work due to their combination with Psyker (Making Psyker just normal humans, or even weaker)
Troths
Aren’t those bound to their world ? Like genetically
I really want a Ratling character.
Which sadly aren’t really suited for the gameplay of the tide games.
If we really want to see new Archetypes (or how ever they’re introduced) for the player to be able to use, it’s either Beastmen or Squat (but PoV issues)
The rest are either not suited for here (Goliath, Ratling, Navigator), would be redundant, or simply not major enough to be warranted.

Thank you so much! Their working name on my end would be something like “Arbitrator Aemilianus” because that is the Latin (High Gothic) equivalent of my surname. I thought that making them a Blank would be a really interesting way to give them that proper “Judge Dredd in 40K” feel. Arbitrator Aemilianus materialised in my mind while I was brainstorming some fan ideas that I thought would work well in Darktide during my free time, during which I happened to rewatch the 2012 Judge Dredd film. It all began with a new “Cyberpunk” Zone, and everything just sort of fell into place from there.
If we are going into specifics… Arbitrator Aemilianus upholds the Lex Imperialis as absolute, barely tolerating that the Inquisition is above the Lex Imperialis. They refer to any unredeemed Rejects as “common criminals” while scowling at them with utter contempt. I would love to see them interact with Captain Wolfer by hacking into the Traitors’ Vox Network just to torment him with the immense list of crimes that he is guilty of, such as “heresy”, “property damage”, “treason” and so on.
Didn’t beastmen lose their abhuman status? They were eventually placed on the Register of Proscribed Citizens.
Ratling is the only one I want, just copy and paste Bardin’s skeleton over here. For some reason he’s oddly short even by WFB dwarf standards, so his size is practically perfect.
Edit: Please do not put me in the book.
a
Yesn’t, they are so in some for the Sectors, where they were mass persecuted, but it’s not general to the whole of the Imperium, so it could be written without breaking much lore
