If we consider the Scribe option to be the Adept from Dark Heresy, it is difficult to really plan out due to it being a more RP focused class, but it could offer basis for certain advances, setting them around being already part of the Inquisition for longer time, and bringing in mechanics from certain of DH’s mechanics, for example Agent of the Reliquary which could bring Digital weapons as Blitz and a Psychotrope Grenade or Hellrjfle as ability. And a Deamonine Seeker, who use the name of Deamons to stun, hurt and inflict various conditions on Deamons and their followers
As for Death Cult Assassin, they’re not that strong on average, but they’re somewhat already covered by Zealot’s Right branch. Might be easier to have the class be (normal) Assassin, with 1 branch also focusing on Death Cult Assassin (Maybe Bladedancer, oh could be interesting to have talents that affect the dodges, one that pirouette out of the way, a other than will slash enemies…)
Some people like to jokingly insist very seriously that they want Scribe, which was a non-combat class from the tabletop RPG that Darktide takes a lot of inspiration from.
As for Eldar; it’d definitely be unusual, but I have no trouble believing that the warband would accept help from them. We know an Eldar ship is lurking in the system and the Rogue Trader who owns the Mourningstar has history with them. We know that there is a great daemon on Atoma, and Eldar are known to get involved to prevent such things from breaking out. Given the fact that we had Kerillian in earlier games, it seems to me to be quite possible. But YMMV.
Space Marines and such are a joke, but sometimes people bring them up.
One idea I’ve never seen anyone bring up (and I don’t think it’s likely, but it’s an interesting thought) is if Atoma itself actually had a Xenos species, long believed to be extinct, who actually have survived out in the wastes. If they were threatened with total annihilation by Admonition, they could risk trying to work with the Inquisition in the hopes of getting a sanctioned status.
Super unlikely, of course, but there is one interesting thought about it; namely that it could be Fatshark’s own original creation, with any powers, traits, or weapons that they wanted to make up.
TBH I would like to see another Abhuman added to the game like the Beastmen that serve the Imperial Army and later the Astra Militarum, where they used their innate bloodlust to fight for the Emperor and atone for the sin of being born as mutants.
Support psyker, they can call it whatever they wish. The reasons:
We have what, 6 regular fighters classes? And just one psyker class, that’s a huge disproportion
People have been asking for a more support-leaning class for a while
I think some “tagging healer/buffer” archetype is what could work in DT (at least as one of the sides of its Tree). So you would tag your allies, assigning some buffs or protective auras to them. Also give the class ability that allows picking up enemies with telekinesis and throwing them at a hoard, causing massive staggers / supression and some damage. Ability to extinguish fires and remove gas clouds for some time, in small area. A Blitz that simply allows you to chose an ally to tag them, and if they get HP damage that would send them down, they won’t go down once and instead are invulnerable for a few seconds, and regain a bit of HP (so similar to the zealot’s talent). Ability to “pull” or teleport downed / disabled allies to psyker’s current location, in a small range. A buff that they can give to one of their teammate in a small range, which that teammate can activate any time, and teleport to psyker’s current location. Ability to select a few targets - and completely incapacitate them, bypassing all stagger immunity mechanics (won’t work on bosses though) - while still being able to fight other mobs (but not the incapacitated ones, that would release those you hit from the stunlock) normally. Perhaps some talents that allow them (just them) to see mobs through walls and obstacles in small range - and apply some of those abilities to those mobs and allies there? So like incapacitate some mobs through a wall if there is some ally with direct line of sight to them there; or throw mobs at each other through the wall. May be some support abilities of the Psyker could still be available to them (Smite, Shield), with a few twists (a Smiting or Shield-placing class-locked staff?)
All of those could be Abilities, Blitzes, or attacks on unique staves they’ll have. They would also have access to some staves current Psyker has - but generally they would be much weaker when it comes to offense, comparing to the Psyker. They would be more resilient and protected at their core though (I mean passive protection here, not skill-based one; may be even have special talents freeing you from the need of constant dodge/slide spam to survive, if they choose to lean towards more support-oriented builds), making them the perfect choice for that one friend (or girl/boyfriend) that wants to tag along, but isn’t that good at the game, and prefers a more calm, peaceful style of play.
Yeah SoB could definitely work, just needs to be implemented appropriately. But I also echo all the calls for non-class content for the foreseeable future.
I think Fatshark’s focus on new classes has led to neglect of other aspects of the game. We haven’t been seeing new maps for adventure mode, almost no new weapons for the existing classes, balance isn’t in a very good place, power creep is somewhat out of control, and there are still a lot of technical issues. I still have no idea why expeditions was added, but it isn’t exactly a hit.
They only release a few significant updates per year, and it seems like most of that limited dev time has been taken up by the creation of new classes for a while now.
Now that we’ve had 3 new classes to play with, I wish Fatshark would hold off on more new classes for a while and instead focus on new maps, new weapons, balance, and technical improvements. But something tells me I won’t get my wish, since new classes = $$$.
