Man this really knocked the wind out of my sails. I just cannot describe how I feel. Disappointed? Disrespected? Used? I just… why? Why would anyone in any company think this would be okay? You guys cannot be that damn oblivious…
This patch I was able to get eleven of my guild mates to retry the game again. All previous early adopters I was able to convince to give this game a try. Guess what? Nine has left so far because of this.
Couldn’t you guys have given us at least a week of hope before you started abusing us again?
Probably backroom deals, something something “do this for us or no Xbox release for your company”.
Companies with leveraging power in negotiations pull these things all the time, often as a simple power move or to style on competition. We had this not too long ago. Remember the 2000’s and 2010’s in Gaming. Exclusive deals of all kinds where the eye could see, ranging from not releasing on another platform at all to giving another platform a worse release by having an early “buy only” time-window.
It’s only recent that most companies have adopted a multi-platform release policy. And bless the heavens they did. I was really getting fed up being punished for not being a console gamer.
Or picking the wrong console. Or picking the right console and still getting shafted because they update for the game as a whole instead of the chosen snowflake platform so the ‘exclusive’ content is neglected.
This gives me flashbacks of the time all the Japanese Devs joined the PS Vita and Nintendo Handheld fad.
Nothing like getting a Playstation just for JRPGs and seeing your favorite franchises and new projects suddenly all downscaled in content and ported over to a very oversized pocket calculator.
They killed Valkyria Chronicles in this way and then brought it back from the dead and then killed it again.
So you’re patiently waiting for people to cave in and buy aquilla for the new Krieg skins until you’ll actually publish a statement with substance other than “we’ll get back to you in a few weeks”?
Just ignore the shop. Don’t even go there to see what they have. They no doubt have metrics on how many people interact with it, how many look without buying and so on. Make it clear that you don’t care (if indeed you don’t).
There are things to get worked up about. For me this is not one of them.
There will always be offers to try to rope new players in, but something may be said for retaining existing ones. Something like "In recognition of the X-Box launch, we’ll be giving all existing players X Aquillas).
Did you really link to your own Update Thread, where you say hollow nothings and end it with “in the coming weeks”. The same thread where you put in that one post and have yet to respond with anything to the community asking you what is going to happen, or why this is happening?
Is the only thing we are getting for beta testing for a year, “screwed over”? I personally would rather hear that I’ve been had, than hear nothing at all.
Thank you for this post. I would play on gamepass version, but now I will buy the premium version.
I know this was not your intention, but thanks! I would never know about it, if not for this post.
And I understand Fatshark why they did it…as why would I buy the game if it is “free” on game pass.
The game launched on Game Pass almost a year before it was on xbox, without that incentive for those players. PC game pass players were also stuck on their own servers while the game was double-dead. But they get nothing from Fat Shark.
It’s the price you pay for “free beer”.
Gamepass was always little more than a glorified demo pass for full-version games.
To be fair to people who bought there, Fatshark did want crossplay to be a launch feature originally.
To be fair to Fatshark, people who buy Gamepass versions of games when they have a perfectly valid Steam version available are sort of setting themselves up when it comes to online community shenanigans.
Gamepass has never been strong in terms of multiplayer.
An unpopular service doesn’t somehow demote the class of users, lol. Microsoft has gone out of their way to attempt to muscle in on Steam’s territory, and at least their install downloads work unlike EGS. That doesn’t mean somehow the Game Pass that the PC players pay for is worth less than the one console players pay for. Its the same freakin subscription, you don’t need it on both platforms…
