Another round of Assassin complaints

I think they would still be annoying because of their bugs sometimes and i still think they are a little bit unfair, but this would help avoiding the damage you take if you sucessfully pushed them out of their jump at least. I like both of these ideas (the second one a little bit more)

I hate it when I stagger an assassin with a push and he instantly teleports instead of doing his roly poly stagger dance…

That really irritates TF out me.

That or when you stagger them and they insta pounce you, or when they backboard off a wall and instapounce you, or when you shoot them and get a hitmarker with say swiftbow, and dont insta kill, and they start rolling backwards and then insta pounce you. Or when they spawn in you and instapounce you, or when they leap to a ledge and dont, have any landing lag and insta pounce you.

What I am saying is the insta pounces are annoying.

Idk if this is still in the game but when an assassin is standing on a ledge, their entire animations are wiped out and they just teleport on you.

It used to happen all the time but Idk if it still does though… I hide in buildings or behind trees and fake them out so they pounce a teammate instead

Really pisses off my friend lol

Also the amount of times im the last man alive, and I hear an assassin, only to turn around and watch him quite literally spawn behind me, and insta leap is toooo damn high. Also as a side note ive noticed a lot of “spawn on the player” bugs happening again recently, I was in against the Grain earlier, an an entire wave spawned inside of me, followed by some ambient chaos warriors that blipped into existence. Being insta surrounded is pretty lame.

Oh, what, like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loGm6NRygBo&feature=emb_title (4 minute mark). Still pissed at this, and can’t believe how people think this is okay.

Why, for the love of god, do Assassins not have a minimum time alive before they can pounce, and a max velocity so it doesn’t look like they teleport?

Way too often, by the time you see an assassin, you can’t even do anything. If you were just dodging, attacking, blocking or anything aside from simply moving, there’s no timeframe where you can actually successfully do another dodge or trigger a push. I’ve checked enough of my own “rekt by assassin” video evidence to think that.

Got another one for the pile.

Assassin spawning frozen in an open space before the sound even starts playing.

Apparently, spots between players that aren’t even proper ground for assassins are viable spawns points once nobody is looking.
Look at this poor assassin falling from the air inbetween us as soon as I turn my head

I think that assasin missed his jump attack somehow and ended up flying against the wall.

It doesn’t look like a spawn for me. If you look close than you see that the rat came from the left side. It seems like the jump was ment for sienna but the special aimed a little to high

That’s most definitely a jump and I’m pretty sure you can even hear the assassins’ sound before it hits the wall. Its also at the point in a map where assassins’ spawning with clear line of sight is nothing odd.

I would already be happy if Eshin would have to face the direction they want to jump in every time. Had my fare share of: “Okay. Seeing his shoulder. Gonna jump Saltz.” moments inbefore it jumped me.

You cant trust those buggers at all.

You are absolutely correct now that I’m looking at it again. It’s actually two different bugs in one! Not only did it hit the wall at full speed without going splat, it also would have pounced a player by the time the spawn sound was just about done with the “SHADOWSSSSS”

Yeah. The other day I saw an assassin jump towards a player that was almost directly opposed to the direction he was preparing his pounce towards. Something like a 150 degree turn mid-flight. Just super annoying to deal with.

I like how Assassins can really surprise me with something completely unexpected from time to time and how they make me do the paranoid spinaround.

Yes they are erratic but they force us to really heighten our senses and this is what this game is about after all right?

Imagine them being predictable like Sucboi Leif Litschi… boring

I have raged about Assassins, I hate Assassins with a passion, but they gave me more Adrenaline and more laughter (joyful and cynical) than all the other enemies combined. So please, just leave them alone… and buy some good headphones

That’s not even the point of this thread @Blui. It’s on thing to have hard enemies and another having enemies that are buggy af. If you are getting pounced just a blink of an eye after the spawn sound plays you can simply not make any use of the best perception if you can barely do the “paranoid spinaround” because the time frame is simply too short. Same goes for unnatural movement, and weird hit boxes. The point of this thread are the bugs with assassins, not their balance… well it kinda drifted there too somehow to compensate on the bugs but that shouldn’t be the way to solve things.

To be fair, I don’t really think an assassin actually should have effective counter play in 100% situations in a team co-op game. It might mess with True Solo Lookit My Huge Throbbing Ego runners, but they aren’t the target audience of the game anyway. Normal solo with bots should not be problematic if you get pounced once in a while. It becomes a matter of making bots not hate you enough to leave you for dead when you do get pounced though.

I still concur with all the comments about them being unfair - leaping sideways, ignoring collision with other enemies, registering a leap even when successfully pushed mid-leap are the big ones in my book.

This wierd and buggy behaviour affects balance, maybe not intended balance but it makes them less predictable thus more assassiny in my eyes, which i like. Facespawns aren’t cool but thats a problem in general.
For me its like being able to block or using an ability while reviving, those are unnatural movements, too but they feel good, so what started out as a bug was kept in the game.

assassins could always not deal damage when they land on you. that will get rid of the unfair damage when they land on you due to delay when not being the host.

That might help, but getting bowled over unfairly still really gets on my nerves.

Would you look at this. I already reacted to and killed the assassin before the spawn sound finished and my character could even voice its presence.
Why. Is. This. Even. Possible.
