Realized today that I’m done for Darktide. Loaded up the game twice today to play, exited it twice without starting a game.
Not going to use this as a parting shot. I’ve commented on things I thought were worth improving.
I’ve had a great 1000 hours out of the game so absolutely no regrets on spending that £40 whatever it was way-back-when, but I’m just cooked on the same maps, same weapons, same skills, same same. Wish things had moved faster so the player base was more energized, but there we are.
Thanks to everyone on this forum that’ve indulged my ideas and shared some jokes. Been great. Adios!
I definitely can’t complain about not getting my money’s worth with close to 300 hours
But I’d be amiss to not say I could have had many many more if fatshark didn’t continue to bungle this game at and post launch.
They definitely drove me into super earth’s loving embrace
Same here. But, I can say a lot of my hours were also frustration with crafting and just logging in to check stores or buy things and leave without playing.
Yeah, I’ve never done that. I don’t think I’ve played at all this year, but when I do I just play missions with whatever gear happens to be kicking around. Can’t even be arsed to sell the junk.
Money isn’t coming in as well as expected. It could be something to do with the tragic ways the cosmetic shop operates. Also lets not pretend here. Fatshark allowed the playerbase to bleed way too quickly with their poor release experience, and wasted all that time to catch up with some major issues.
I’d be up for watching a noclip style doco on the back-end happenings of Fatshark. There has to be some juicy stories on things like their software solutions and processes, and structural/versioning systems and whatever caused the Xbox port to go from simultaneous release to delayed to delayed indefinitely to 11 months later.
I think I’m in the same position now, I updated my mods last week which broke the game - couldn’t even launch it. I started to get in the process of fixing it, but I was just like what even is the point. I opened the game a few days ago, modless, and played 1 game but I just felt done and closed it.
I actually installed Dead by Daylight instead, that game has really no similarity to Darktide at all, but I find it funny. I stopped playing Dead by Daylight for over a year because of how slow the devs were to listen to community feedback. Just like I stopped playing Darktide for over a year for the same reason.
I come back to Darktide after over a year and the game is basically the same but with a class rework, which was awesome and made me interested in the game again, but there was really nothing else different. I come back to Dead By Daylight after over a year, and the game is so different, a lot of the bs I hated was fixed, meta has changed, tons of new maps (even if many of them suck) and a lot of new content.
I’m done with Darktide for at least another year, hopefully a new class rework-esque update will come out. I will look at “news” and come to the forum occasionally because I love the game, but I’m at the point where new maps, fixing crafting, weapon balancing changes, all of the stuff that should’ve been fixed while I was gone for over a year won’t bring me back. Where is the agency? I doubt they’re going to fix any of those things in the next year anyway.
I thought BHVR had slow development with Dead by Daylight, they’re literally The Flash compared to Fatshark and Darktide. I really don’t see Fatshark’s goal here, did they bring everyone back with the class rework just to lose them again? Oh well.
Explains a lot though. I recall Strawhat or Catfish mention, that they don’t do concurrent releases for their two Tide projects, because they don’t want one to negatively impact the others.
