Time to Uninstall Darktide

@FatsharkCatfish

True to my pledge, I said that if patch #10 doesn’t do something to address the community’s biggest, outstanding issues with the game, I was going to uninstall the game and move on until such time that Fatshark makes substantive improvements to the game’s progression systems.

With the patch having landed, and it not addressing these issues, I’ve just now uninstalled Darktide. :frowning:

I’m assuming that Fatshark tracks installed instances (since Steam does to manage updates), so after 6-months of constructive feedback I feel like this is the only thing left to do try and send a message.

Backing up, I was so ready to be all in on Darktide. The combat gameplay and aesthetics remain incredible. I’ve written two Steam guides and had another in the works. But I’ve hit the wall on wanting to keep playing and I can only take so much of being force-fed a casino gambling experience before the frustration of it overshadows the good.

I’ll keep an eye on things and if Fatshark decides to address these issues, I’ll consider coming back. But at the moment they’ve lost me. And to be honest, it feels liberating to just walk away.

If you’re feeling the same way towards Darktide, consider just uninstalling and dropping a line here. It’s likely the only thing we can do at this point.

This is a good community with a lot of love for this game, and we just want it to be meet its potential. Take care everyone.

I agree it’s a real shame, I uninstalled in February I think with only 53 hours played. I believe they’ve got their plans in place for the whole year, and you might as well go and have a conversation with the nearest fence post for all the difference it makes. They’re simply following their own internal road map and their customers can just go kick rocks.

Here’s the deal though, they’re possibly swimming in cash and DGAF about the locks, or any of the other stuff as they’ve got their spondoolicks and it doesn’t matter for maybe 2 years whether or not they continue to be profitable. They can just keep limping along at this pace and it won’t actually matter.

We know they are working on the console port, but I assume that there might be some of this in play. Maybe there is a bunch of disillusionment and lack of pride internally about the game but at the end of the day no one really cares enough because they made a ton of money regardless. If, so where’s the motivation to do the hard stuff like implementing new/reworked gameplay features? And if leadership doesn’t care, I can’t imagine other staff are going to cause a fuss and stick their own neck out.

I can’t even get MY stuff that I earned on another character.

FWIW, I had four characters trying to get Blaze Away on an Autopistol. About 3 months looking for it and using the shop checker plug-in and everything and I never saw it.

Yop I need to uninstall too, it just makes me depressed.
This isnt even some ‘studio is having trobles’ and unfortunatelly a good thing dies.
This is just pure fatshark retardery that actively drives this into the ground

I was really hoping after 2 months of silent waiting that this patch would be a sign of the devs hearing community feedback going forward, instead we got another core system implementation finished after the games release and labeled “content”.
This patch gives players no incentive to come back and keep going, and the hope that it will change in the future is just evaporating.
It’s sad, and I just don’t have the energy or hope to care anymore, I have no desire to play.

Kill the RNG, put the “quality” back in QoL, and start pumping out new free subclasses for existing characters like your future depends on it.

That’s what it would take to save this game in my eyes, until then - I’m out, there’s too many other better things to play out there to have my mood ruined by darktide.

I’m just still reeling from the fact there weren’t ANY balance changes. I thought that was going to be the biggest part of the update. Where the hell is the “large patch?” Was it just updates to how we look at cosmetics?

Why are you @ting fatshark over this you weirdo? You think she cares? She’s the community manager not a dev.

Get over yourself your sense of self-importance is unreasonably high.

Please don’t create another topic about your copy’s installation status whether you come back or you don’t.

edit: LOL, you took this topic to reddit?! You’re so full of yourself!

You have been a great source of calm and constructive feedback on the forums. It is sad to see you go, but I have had the game uninstalled since they announced the second blessing slot would be locked. All we can do is vote with our time. If I am still lurking the forums looking for souls to add and they announce something change I will notify peeps at the board.

Cheers mate - and I appreciate your efforts to push for a better experience too. Sadly I think it’s time for me to move on. I’ll still be lurking here for a while and posting too. But I’m done playing for now. It’s actually been over a week since I played anyway (May 18 when the comm-link didn’t drop) so I’m already falling out of the play routine. :frowning:

Haven’t played DT 4 days. Grinding D4 called Last Epoch that we have at home. Dev team are amazing and open to community. Highly recommend unlike DT.

Take that last part you mentioned and direct it at yourself. Self reflection is important you know.

Yeah dude I might just uninstall as well. All that waiting for two new maps but actually just one map, recolors of old cosmetics and a new monstrosity as of the time i typed all this. I do genuinely appreciate the new content, i will never complain about new maps or mobs. That is all great and it’s all free. The problem is, they very clearly have their own vision of the game that does not match what the majority of players want. I mean, just remove crafting locks. That alone will go a long way. It wont fix all the crafting issues like not having a guaranteed way to get a blessing you want but it will at least show they value our feedback while making crafting a little less frustrating. Anyway, the new map and monstrosity is cool but i quit after one match when i realized i cant play the new map on the mode i want (and probably most damnation players) which is, of course, hi shock gauntlet. So if master gatekeeper Fatshark doesnt want me to play the way i want to play, I will just not play at all. Literally every other game i own i can just open up and immediately play because i know any mode, map, weapon, etc i want will be available or have a guaranteed way to get it. No third party sites needed just to see if the mode i want is up before i waste my time launching the game. Of course there are two maps but apparently master gatekeeper Fatshark feels the need to add it behind an arbitrary “event” that’s not even an event, it’s literally just playing the game. So I’ll be back when either hi shock is on the board or when they release the other map
