I love how you can think about nothing but yourself.
No one is talking about you my guy. I don’t care if you’re good at the game or not. Fact of the matter is: Most controller players aren’t.
It’s like your ego is the size of a goddamn planet. Nothing about this is about you, yet you keep reverting to “I” whenever an argument is made. Is your ego that brittle that you can’t accept the fact that some people are bad with controllers and have to take offense?
Yeah, but that’s another problem. There shouldn’t be any aim assist in games. I use controllers in games that warrant it (Cuphead, Overcooked, Trackmania (many keyboard players there), Outer Wilds, …) but never first-person titles. I’m an outlier I’m sure, but I don’t understand how games like Golden Eye or Halo sold a single copy.
I’m curious though, do you agree that it is a bit strange that console players can opt out of playing with PC players but not the other way around? What would be your preferred system here?
If people are bad at controllers then it is a skill problem. I am bringing up my self because, as my philosophy teacher in college would say, “if someone isn’t 100% true…then it’s false”. I can demonstrate very easily by including me that what you are saying can’t be true.
If you think we are just playing with words and you don’t think the actual controller is the problem…then cool I’ll agree with you there.
But like I already said, it sounds like letting console players get good at the game will solve your problem. Aiming is really easy on controller. Is it as easy as MNK? No, but it is close enough to do damnation and auric which is a high enough standard to be content with?
YES now you are getting it, it’s a skill problem us PC players don’t want to hold their hands for we are not unpaid babysitters for the xbox players with skill issues
It’s a problem solved by tech. They gave us an algorithm that helps us aim when we get close to the enemy. I can see why PvP hates it since it definitely isn’t 100% player input like MNK, but on a co op game…who cares?
As for opting out of stuff…I don’t really have an opinion I guess. If PC players can opt out of playing with consoles and visa versa, then I would think that’ll limit the player base which is a negative. On the other hand, clearly pc players don’t want to play with console players because they think they are bad. And that might be true at this point in time but could certainly change with time. I would probably lean on the side of having a large player base? Idk I don’t really care I guess lol
So the argument is “FatShark, please add a skill level, repercussion for being bad at some agreed upon threshold, etc to limit this behavior”. We are really talking about toxic behavior if it is happening as frequent as you guys are saying. Again, I feel like it’s a temporary issue, but I can at least empathize with that argument.
However, the other poster is saying they can’t aim because of the controller. I do not agree with that for reasons I already stated
I suspect it comes down to requirements for the platform, where crossplay is only allowed if you guarantee support for the user’s crossplay settings (which can be set at an account level for MS accounts)
I tried finding MS documentation for it, but I suspect some of the info is locked behind Xbox Developer accounts or something, so this is just a hunch.
If Steam doesn’t require the same, it may be simpler/faster to leave it out initially. Whether or not they come back to it in future.
No the argument is fatshark shorted us 14k the xbox players got which pissed off a lot of us as is, But on top of that we now can’t play the levels with out needing to carry people so again we are not unpaid babysitters, If they can’t play the game to the skill level of pc players then pc players should be allowed to set a setting to opt out of being loaded into matches with xbox players, it’s as easy as that we just want to be able to opt out of that and only be put in matches with pc players, like how xbox gta 5 and pc gta 5 are on different servers
Yea sure I think we are saying the same thing in different ways. As long as you aren’t blaming it on a controller then I would be happy to agree with you. It sucks playing with people who aren’t on your skill level.
Perhaps an MmR ranking system liek dota has would help? I play dota 2 ( on my MNK! Lol) all the time and skill issue is a similar complaint we all have. MmR/ranking seems to be the best way to address what you are composing about
Indeed. I want a scoreboard. This is not because I want to compare myself to others. I want to compare myself to me (well, and others, but not to hurl slurs or call people names). I’m not trying to put words into your mouth here, you haven’t discussed a score board as far as I know .
Dead horse. I know. One of my best friends plays Grail Knight. He’s constantly low on DPS, but on the other hand he staggers everything into the ground so everything is just so easy to take care of when he’s around… and he dominates the DPS when switching to Waystalker or fire witch.
I’ll have to install the mod. I want it to improve my own play, not to judge others. At the end of the day, obnoxious as I am, I don’t care about people’s input methods, and I also don’t mind carrying people on occasion as long as they are civil. Sucking is fine. Being rude is not.
My point is that blocking xbox players won’t stop you from meeting controller players. If they can pull their own weight it shouldn’t matter what they. Being on a controller doesn’t magically make you incompetent, it just changes how you approach things. What’s next, telling trackball players they need to be separated?
I have an xbox serie x and no FPS installed on it.
Fact is, you cannot aim properly with a controller… Off course you can shoot, but without aim assist you just lost behind a player with a mouse and keyboard.
Also, you cannot turn at 360° as fast as someone playing with a mouse.
The impact on the game of one player that doesn’t do its part is huge. I don’t care to see someone that do errors cause he learns to play (or it was just bad luck / day).
But babysitting someone that have also babysitting from the game (= aim assist) that’s too much.
Please try to use your controller without any aim assist… And come back to tell us how it goes…
A quick search shows that Xbox Darktide players can use M+KB. And Steam players can use a controller. And PC Gamespass players exist.
…so why is this thread still going?
If you don’t want to risk playing with people you can’t control, then get friends or get on the Discord. Orrrrr try out this awesome new mod! It keeps impossible-to-please-because-they-won’t-help-themselves players out of matches.
I am better than many MNK players because skill isn’t based solely off of the input you use. If I play with a dude who is exactly skilled as me, then yea he will probably do a little better.
My skill level lets me do damnation auric just fine with a controller
